- We're taking you behind the scenes of our favourite Banh Mi in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Banh Mi Boy started life as a food truck in Mangere- John and his wife Zeena have taken the leap to open a bricks and mortar. Get out there and support these guys and eat epic banh mi.
What we ate and where we ate it:
Banh Mi Boy, 55 Montgomerie Road, Mangere, Auckland. Open Tuesday to Saturday 9:30am to 2:30pm. Traditional banh mi $13, vegetarian banh mi $11 and all other Banh mi $12.50, garlic bread $3

This place is a gem! I remember them from the food truck video and am so happy they’re storefront now!! Everything looks so good! It’s nice to have a place where the sandwich is the star…so often it’s just a one-selection option in the menu, not like the great spread you guys scored!

What I love is how he got all that yummyness right to the ends of the roll! Great to see they have a shop now, thanks to you guys I visited the food truck a few times definitely best in Auckland. One good thing about living back in Adelaide however is the quality of Banh mi and Vietnamese food in general here.

I am about to start a vegan bahn mi business in Barcelona but cant find the right bread!! Will have to use a regular baguette and hope no one minds!! Best Bahn mi I have eaten is at Superhero in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia. Bahn Mi Boy looks great!!

07/06/24 I Decided to check this place out, I Travelled from Hamilton and I wasn't disappointed, so fresh, and the flavor, fresh bread, and pork brawn are a must. Check it out guys and hopefully soon a shop in the Waikato, much appreciate the chat as well.

@@ChasingaPlate next time I'm in Auckland I will definitely have to try it out loving the chicken and the pork ball bahn mi coriander is my absolute favourite herb it's such a fresh tasting herb great on a chicken pad Thai

i think my biggest downside to moving to new zealand from the states is the food selection is just awful compared to the states. I could find a restaurant for any cuisine within an hour drive from me. Not having any mexican food here kills me being from colorado and it being one of my favorite foods. Ill definitely be trying this place since ive been looking for a banh mi place.
I can totally see how you would miss it hugely!! Have you been out to Cielito Lindo in Henderson? They do great food. We have spent a lot of time in Mexico and love the food.
