Satya Demonstrating 4 Basic Yields

In this 3 min video, my mare Satya & I demonstrate asking for hindquarter yields & forehand yields on both sides using fingertip pressure (steady pressure) on the ground.
I also show neutral lateral flexion & use captions throughout to give helpful tips on doing the yields, explain what qualities you should be looking for in the yields, the importance of giving breaks/dwell time in between exercises & making sure your horse feels rewarded for putting in effort.
You can also see a clear difference between her stiff side (bending or turning to the left) & her looser side (bending or turning to the right). Satya is 26.5 yrs old when this video was filmed (Sept 2024) & has age related arthritis. She has been retired fro riding for a few years, but doing gentle groundwork with older horses is a great way to help supple & strengthen them and help them feel the best they can feel during their senior years.
