Very nice video, i did the same to my 690 enduro r, i removed the passenger footpegs, change the slip on, changed the footpegs.. i have reduced weight, but again put more weight on the bike because i put the lower crash bars, skid plate small rear rack.
Most 690 "builds" involve adding weight. Rally tower, guards on every part, super heavy tires, lots of ways to add bling and weight. I like the Wings muffler, they are over 600.00 in 2024. I will figure something else out.
you can still miss the weight with the collector, replacing it with the titanium tekmo, which is less noisy in addition. you can also save 1kg by removing the antipollution system: EVAP, CANISTER, SLS with a map you will gain enormously in engine approval and reliability after that would be to change the fairings with carbon, the tank cap, the axles of the wheels, the discs, the crown. after that it quickly costs a bit expensive 😅 it is possible to lower the weight to 130kg dry
@alkane Thank you for your feedback! regarding the removal of antipollution system: EVAP, CANISTER, SLS..it may affect the inspection approval as I still need to ride it in public roads. the remaining mods you suggested might become a very expensive for the outcome maybe... In any case awesome feedback
Very good info thank you, I m gonna fallow you. Next years 2023, I m gonna change my bike for this one ( I RUN R1200GS 2018) but now I just do day trip or small trip with.. I do long trip with my Overland truck ( Tacoma Offroad)... so I when run lighter bike and more Offroad capabilities... this one the ktm 690 enduro r look perfect for have more fun daily...
Hi! thank you for your support! I have also other bikes like the Ducati Pikes Peak but this one is what I use the most for fun and offroad adventures. Stay safe!
I rode an 890R for 3 years, off road a lot, then I got a 690R. The 690 feels like a full on dirtbike right outta the box compared to the 890R. Around 120lbs lighter. SO much easier to do any kind of off roading on the 690. Which is a no brainer, who ever said "I want a near 500lb dirt bike" ? The 690 is a laugh a minute, wheelies, slides, easy to turn around in tight spots, it hauls ass.....75mph on road is no problem for hours.
Which rally are you aiming for? Europe? Africa? In Europe, I'll skip rallytowers and go as light as possible. A simple roadbookholder is more than enough.
Im planning to start Europe Rallies and then we will see. My dream is doing desert Rallies...My idea would be to go for the new Superlight kit from Aurora because it adds extra wind protection and only weights 2,5kg..what do you think?.
@@pedrosousaGO I ride a 701 enduro and use it for rally events too... I also was thinking about the Light kit its looks really promising und you upgrade the awful lighting of the 690/701 platform. I would advice you to get a cumpan (Display) is really handy and easy to install. Its Is really good for monitoring your engine temp. These things are taking super long to get the right oil temp (Will save you from reving your engine too early) and off-road you do not over heat the engine .. i had similar foots pegs of yours the are really grippy but they fuck up your boot real fast :( I changed to the rally pegs due too this fact there are more pricy but boots are aswell haha looking forward to the project developing :)
@@pedrosousaGO personally I think the Xplorer kit is the most interesting in terms of possibility and balance. The enduro 690 has been designed to have tanks at the front, without, the weight is far too unbalanced, especially with luggage
@@LimitEdit Cumpan seems like a nice add on. Ill be posting a video with the rally tower installation and Carpe iter pad... I was thinking to connect a OBB to Android and retrieve some data from there but Cumban looks like more hassle free and with more feedback. A bit pricey though...
@@alkane6467 Explorer is the best approach but price is prohibitive to go for it in one move. My idea is to start with the new Superlight kit and when the fuel range becomes an issue either going for the rad Garage (extra 6L) in the front or the Aurora Super 690 kit (extra 15L). Cheers
Airfilterbox and the assebly to that is another 1-2kg.. swap it with a cold air intake, use motocross airfilter spray. Works like a sharm in the dunes. I have a 690 smc woth evo 2 inc cam. And that kit also dramaticly reduce weight. And gives a seriuos bump in power. Went from 58.3bhp to the wheel and now i have 70.4bhp at the wheel. Make sure to sent ur bike to a good tuner. Put race tune on original switch. (Sport mode) keep rest of map setting stock. And also make sure ur guy makes a dyno map that he finish on the road. My bike runs better than stock.. but mapping with only dyno, usaly gives this wierd effects, when hot, moist or so forth :) So a well rounded tune from a good tuner that takes his time, u Will get a good bump from about 55-60bhp wheel to 70-73bhp wheel. Some countries have higher octane in fuel, so sone different resaults. I got 70.4bhp wheel, and my tuner said he could go a little further... but he wanted drivebility and quality to maintain good or better. And he nailed it. The bike is another bike. Super smooth and pull harder inn all the rpm range. But my guy said, make sure someone who knows the ls4 engine do it. Many bad mapping resaults out there... bike jerking, blowing up (to lean) so forth. But the engine loves to get pushed, u just need the right tune. Omg i just gave u a really long anwser.. but youtube removed it? ...
