This in an improved version of the Khr30, also made in Germany as the FWB AW93. It was designed as a pistol for clubs in the Soviet Union by V Yarygin, a prolific gun designer. I have two of these and a lot of gunsmithing experience on them. The firing group is designed with a very long first sear, enabling a very strong hammer spring (without making the trigger pull to heavy). This makes the gun extremely durable. I see no need to replace recoil springs, like you often do on European guns. The second sear is in the form of an arc, which is theoretically ideal, this is very rare. It gives the trigger pull more of a "roll" feeling. To tune the trigger you will have too change the second sear spring to a weaker one and slightly round of the sear surfaces, and polish them of course. Fit and finish is generally very good, even though they look a bit rough, being Parkerized.

The grips are Arnie Vitarbo grips. Make sure you put loctite purple on the 3 barrel screws. Also upgrade to allen head screws .

I've had one for 20 years, made in 2003, branded Baikal, did have an agent in Australia but he passed away recently.
Great gun, I've used it extensively.

    I own a IZH-35M myself.
Baikal/Walther cooperation, but before the Walther KSP200.
I have magazines for it (It is possible to source them in Europe, but not easy). 🙂 (I'm from Denmark)
But I am curious: What have you done, to adapt the S&W22A magazines to the pistol?
These are a lot easier to come by, and also have more than 5 round capacity.

I concur. Please spill the 22A magazine secret sauce. I have the Frankonia version in chrome with the Walther grip. Though I don't know if it is a keeper now that it labels me as a hipster. 🤔

To adopt them for use, you have to move the loading pin from the right to the left. I also put a piece of tape around the magazine to allow for friction to keep the mag seated.

Don't You have some regulations in trigger weight? I do need have at least 1000gr on trigger, You can adjust this using this small screw on top of rail. Nice shooting!

Definitely! I know Free Pistol and Olympic have different rules for trigger weights. It really varies by competition. I haven't bothered adjusting this trigger, since it's likely 1800-2000 grams. I haven't tested the pull.

I have the same gun. It was originally designed in the 70's. I was shooting this gun in USSR in the late 80's when I was in a competition shooting. Your gun is not from the 70's. Your gun was made after 1991 after the fall of the soviet union. The earlier guns would say on them "Made in USSR". Its great gun was made in the Izhmash factory and designed by (V. A. Yarigin.)

    And what model S&W mags

    • @Deanosaurous
      @Deanosaurous  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Those are Smith and Wesson model 22 magazines (or maybe 22a, but I believe they are the same).
You have to move the spring compression peg to the other side of the magazines (requires modifying the follower) and then what I do is put a small piece of Gorilla tape on the back of the magazine near the base to tension it into the magwell (since I didn't want to modify the mag catch on the pistol).
A bit jank, but it works well and since original magazines go for 200 or 300 dollars when they come up, this is a far cheaper option.

If you have an IZH-35M... I wager you have an HK P7...
