Bout damn time the C.G. got NEW instead of Squid hand me down equipment. I severed 76-80 as AD3 and back then we were the handmedown service half the time. IT WAS U.S. Coast Guard Coxswains who handled a vast majority of landing craft in WWII in both theaters. The first Helo rescue in history was a Coast Guard rescue.
Boarded by one off Key West a few weeks ago. Very impressive boats, and fast, twin 60 Series Detroit Diesels on water jets. After they were done they tried to keep up with us, couldn't, but still fast. We were in a 42 Yellowfin with 4 Mercury 300 Hp Verados.
