Well in this case i fully support it. I got the Lexar NQ790 4TB for my laptop and there are no compromises, Tom's Hardware thorougly tested it too.
This brand should get more exposure as they are way cheaper but have no compromises

On my iPhone 13 I used a Sandisk device that was awesome - simple and fast to use. I now have an iPhone 15 and wish k could find something similar.

Very cool. Would be great if you can do a Black Magic read/write speed test from your Macbook from and to it.
The 3x2x2 technology may not be giving the full speed when read from your Macbook. You will see what I mean when you test it.
All it needs is MagSafe on the back of it and you’re golden!!

I think a magnetic ring on a plate with some Velcro on it would be very handy. You could snap that on your iPhone and put Velcro on whatever you wanted to attach and it would be easily removed.

You should have tape a MagSafe ring to the Lexar and then could have attached it via MagSafe.

Phone manufacturers are selling phones as everyday cameras but they remove the one thing that cameras have in common - memory card expansion slot. All these would be unnecessary if they maintained the micro sd expansion slot.

Does look like a cool and sleek ssd! Very slim and compact too as well as really impressive R/W speeds.. but unfortunately even on offer it’s very expensive in my opinion.
I’ve been looking for an ssd on and off for a few months now, mostly to take pro res recordings, and if this ssd had MagSafe and was cheaper it would be absolutely flawless and perfect!
But for now I got a usb c 3.2 gen 2 memory stick/thumb drive
It’s small and compact with not only a usb c port but on the other end it has a usb a too.
While it’s less storage at 512gb.. it only costs £30
Can’t go wrong really.. apart from running out of storage capacity lol 😂😂
If the lexar ssd becomes cheaper in the future I’ll definitely consider getting one!
I would love to get the 2T one, but not at the price of £149 or £179/£200+ for different models. Even the 1T is expensive, but for pro res recording, 2T or more is probably better long term.

not only CAN you, but you HAVE to use external storage if you want to record in ProRes at 4k60
I think it's only on the pro iPhones because raw video is like gigabytes per second of video

I have an OWC envoy pro mini that I got to store things on and use for storage, but my iPhone won't record 4k 120 to it. Is there a setting I need to change or will this drive not work with my phone?
The only downside of this device that I see would be the speed of the type c. USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20gbps isn't supported by Apple. Lexar just should've gone for USB 3.2 Gen 2 10gbps and lower the price.

Recording to external disk from a iPhone requires a maximum average write speed of 220mb. Also just fyi Mac supports maximum 10gbit max. So everything above 1000 write is useless. (oh yeah same with read speed) And sadly with this ssd you cant connect an external mic so theres that. So many other better options out there :)
Why cant you connect and external mic? Should be able to with the Belkin 4 usb-c hub

You know, there's a thing called SD card slot but they got rid of it.
you can't record higher-resolution video to SD. The write bandwidth isn't high enough.
