    Tom Brady has said on multiple occasions a player's best attribute is his availability for the team. If that means sliding 1 yard short of a first down in a September game so be it. That is how you play 20 years in the NFL.

      He also played for an organization that put the O-line over skilled positions. The Pats have had one of the best O-lines in football since the Belicheck era, compare that to someone like Andrew Luck or David Carr who was forced to stand behind a line as holey as Swiss cheese.

      The difference between then and now is we know about what concussions do to the brain. If players knew about CTE back then, they would not have been playing that recklessly. Say what you will about bad officiating now (it is def a problem), but at least theres a chance players won’t be as messed up later in life.

      @bkstacker 247 I agree that Luck and Cam Newton didn't get the calls that Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers would get. That doesn't really effect the Allen situation though. The dude was close to the 1st down marker in a close game and he still had forward momentum though he was being tackled (and lowered) by another defender. Dude could have slid instead of going head first into multiple defenders.

    Bills Fan here, my whole problem with the hit on Josh Allen was that it was just unnecessary. He was already going down to the ground when the second defender decided to get involved.
    Also, and this one of my issues with football in general, is that defenders prefer to just launch themselves at players in an effort to get a “big hit” rather than wrapping. The Josh Allen hit is just one example of this “tackling form”.

    • @nickleo3153
      @nickleo3153 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      He would have gone with momentum to get the first and in that situation you can’t stop time and say ok let me not touch him. Also, if you look at it, he leads with the shoulder not his head, but because of Allen’s level it lines up with his head

    • @tarnantula
      @tarnantula 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick Leo I’m not saying Jones didn’t lead with his shoulder or that JA’s momentum was going to carry him for the first down...
      But I’ll tell you what, running into someone being pushed forward isn’t going to stop them from going forward. Also, your not gonna stop the momentum by just launching your shoulder. Rather, he could have wrapped up from the side and tried to take JA’s momentum to side thus preventing the first down.
      The crux of my displeasure with the play is “launch yourself” tackling form, that a lot of defenders rely on, and needs to be coached/officiated out of the game.

    There are different rules, or at least different reactions to hitting Tom Brady, Manning (when he was in the league), Rogers and certain others than the rest of the league. Don't beleive me? In January of 2006, Carson Palmer injures his knee when a Steelers defensive lineman rolls into him on a low blow. Pretty much ends the Bengals' playoff run and Palmer missed the next season. The reaction of the league.....nothing. 2 years later, Brady injured on pretty much the same play in the same manner, misses the rest of the season. Matt Cassell steps in, Pat's go 11-5, Cassell gets a huge contract that the chiefs are only now recovering from (had no bearing on the story, but just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents about how over reactionary the league is with certain QBs in paying them dump tons of money with limited sample sizes for performance, but really slow to pay others). In any event, Brady goes down, and how does the league react? The next season the rules are changed so that you can't hit a qb below the knee
    You can argue that it makes sense for the league to protect it's most valuable assets (the best and most recognizable QBs) but let's not pretend that the rules aren't different for hitting some guys than hitting others.

    I remember the Steelers vs Cincinnati game where Burfict literally tried to decapitate Antonio Browns head❗️🤯. I also remember Cincinnati being up very late in that game a couple years ago. Pittsburgh called a timeout, they were driving about 30-40 yards away from a potential game winner field goal? When 1st “Adam Pac-Man Jones” was called for a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty, moves Pittsburgh 1/2 the distance they need. Then on a timeout, Marvin Lewis (former Bengals Head Coach) told BURFICT do NOT do anything STUPID....BURFICT, then goes out on the field and on the very next play, BURFICT literally tried to decapitate Antonio Brown’s head! He, “AB” would have most likely not caught that pass from Big Ben as it was high! However, BURFICT moronic play gave Pittsburgh another 15 yards! Which gave them enough to kick a game winning field goal with seconds left!
    If the Bengals do NOT have back to back retarded plays? Especially the Burfict Hits Which gave the Steelers 30 yards basically for free...Was just enough for Pittsburgh to kick the game winner! I said back then, A.) This dude just cost the Bengals their 1st Playoff win under Lewis? And Lewis never got as close and was fired the next football season. B.) This player is not dirty? He’s trying to kill people? At the very least he’s trying to injure any opposing player. At obviously whatever cost to the team? I honestly think if that play does not happen? Bengals win their 1st Playoff game under M Lewis & he’s still coaching the Bengals.

You'd never teach kids to tackle like that. That being said the NFL has been clear; if you leave the pocket with the ball tucked under your arm or at the hip, the officials are not protecting you. It doesn't matter if you're Cam Newton or Johnny Football, you have to know those protection rules. Though I never liked how Ron Rivera ran Newton into the ground with all those QB power runs.

    And I know why.. it's because none of you guys watched the actual game and seen it live..
    If you were watching it live you would know that Burfict was within his rights as a linebacker to attempt to tackle Doyle the way he did. The Refs didn't even think it was egregious when it happened. They were going to allow the colts to run the next play. But the officials in New York made the call down to the refs on the field, telling them to not allow the colts to run the next play so that they can kick Burfict out of the game.
    And do you know why the refs on the field weren't going to kick him out? It's because they watched the play live, understood it was a bang bang play and that Burfict's options for tackling Doyle were pretty much limited to what he did, and that it wasn't malicious.

    Vontaze Burfict is exactly what he has been since Pop Warner, a classless competitor that has never had any respect for his teammates or the game! He has shown this since before his Centennial of Corona, to AZ to the NFL. But he was one hell of a baller everystep of the way. It's just a shame he couldn't hold back enough to let his talent dominate!

  • @stairway718

    Josh Allen was getting tackled from behind, almost at the ground, and Jones took the opportunity to helmet-drive him. It was clearly dirty

    • @jraymond1988
      @jraymond1988 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If Allen had slid earlier it wouldn't have been an issue. Yeah the hit was unnecessary and possibly warranted an ejection but helmet to helmet hits don't just drop out of the sky. Quarterbacks are making it impossible on the defenders to tell when they are sliding last minute.

    • @ArrowheadJunkie
      @ArrowheadJunkie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Every pro football player has "heart" that's one of the dumbest cliches EVER. That's something ppl say about players who aren't that good in other areas of their game so they say but he has heart.....basically translating from the consensus that aka they like that player. You're playing the most important scrutinized position in pro sports in the toughest game in the world by playing it your entire life. You have heart simply for that. But that doesn't mean you're necessarily a good QB nor are you known as a one of the tougher ones in the league both as in Carr's case

    • @ArrowheadJunkie
      @ArrowheadJunkie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jason Brown don't throw THAT around. NEVER EVER said that's why he was soft. That can't be further from the truth. I was merely saying that you can't just say a QB has heart it's just pointless conjecture and cliche. It's often said when there's not much else to say about a QB tangible qualities.

    • @kami1
      @kami1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArrowheadJunkie Mahomes is soft too. Calling for a Roughing the Passer against Crosby in week 2 acting like he got fucking hurt. Meanwhile Carr has been getting fucked up after throwing the ball ever since week 1 and has not gotten a Roughing the Passer called for him once. He hasn't even debated the refs to look at it. If Carr is soft, so is Mahomes

      @@kami1 he's just calling for a penalty to gain an advantageous position for his team you moron. He's using the rules in his favor. It's called being smart and exercising gamesmanship. Sure sure he's soft. Only thing soft about Mahomes is how soft the ball is when he floats it effortlessly into the arms of his receivers who are 10 yards ahead of any DB. Another clueless hater who sees my pic and just can't handle it 😂😂😂

    Pat calls it like it is. It's really unfortunate that Allen got concussed, but he was trying to make extra yards and the defender tried to stop him from doing that- the helmet to helmet contact was not intentional at all.
    Vontaze must go, he is the reason my boy AB acting all wild, lol.

  • @Lukasafer

    If Brady got hit like that, of course the player would be ejected
    He gets sneezed on he yells at the ref, Belichick would demand they get suspended after the game
    Allen was scrambling but Brady is treated much differently than Newton, Wilson, Luck (when he played)
    The answer is yes, an ejection and flag on the play would happen

    • @huntermilliard9852
      @huntermilliard9852 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but like Pat said you wont see Brady get hit like that, because he doesnt let himself get hit like that. Allen will learn to protect himself better if he wants a career as long as Brady's.
