I think it's just a reaction to the unfortunate gender divide we typically have in terms of how we think about dating. Guys are usually the ones who have to make the move (at least in Canada/US), so a lot of times, women can just sit back and find something eventually while not really doing anything (meaning, not really trying to look for something, necessarily). If it was roughly equal both ways, we probably wouldn't be having this issue cropping up on such a scale.

Marriage would’ve been weird for us because of how different our friends and families were. I’m not a fan of him but I think it’s fair if someone’s is self conscious about their hair (or lack there or, to want to hide it). I’d agree that doesn’t fit his idea of masculinity but I think a healthy form of masculinity would be inclusive of people who prefer to hide physical features they don’t personally like or want to share.

My story is not meant to rebuke high earning parents, but point out that there is a double edge to either lifestyle. So it frustrates me when RP effectively doom-pill men that aren't achieving their prescribed lifestyle, siting "reality" via hookup sex preferences, while my personal experience shows 90% of married men around me (including myself, my dad, my extended family, my neighbors, and community friends) do NOT fit their prescribed lifestyle. If I'm making 300+k/year, I legitimately don't care if my wife works for/makes/has money. As mid earner 130-160k/year, I like that my wife works because it gives us flexibility in how we use our money. There's a threshold where I stop caring. Military wife here. People get married before deployment for extra benefits and military men absolutely have the ability to cheat (my husband deployed multiple times to Afghanistan). Believe it or not, women are a part of the military!! Cheating happens by both parties and divorce is high for many reason besides long distance. We made it!
