It’s honestly so sad what happened to Morgana. Had Gaius or Merlin helped her when she had first discovered she had magic, or even explained the nightmares, she probably wouldn’t had such a better fate. The only person that was really on her side was her sister, who was evil. Well, not exactly evil, but led her down the wrong path. She went through so much, and it could’ve easily been avoided.

Yes she was, she's just as hypocritical as her father , she used to sympathise with the opressed because she considered herself one of them , but as soon as she became powerful she no longer had any principles, she hated her brother for no reason, she claimed that she hated Uther for what he did to innocent sorcerers, but it's not like she has a problem with killing the innocent, she just uses other people's suffering to justify her personal greed, she is no martyr, she had many chances of redemption but she didn't stop. there is darkness and light in everyone. Everyone kept morgana in the dark tbh. so the moment she saw a light source (morgause) ofc she'd follow her. they say "in the land of the blind, the one eyed is king." Merlin was too much in the "light" and ended up denying that darkness have to exist in people too. Both Merlin and Morgana were acting in the extremes tbh. Life shouldnt be a matter of light/dark or good/evil because such things do not naturally exist in nature. There is always a balance, a grey area. But to them it's black and white. Both of them have emodied "there is no other way" "i had no choice" kind of mantra. BBC Adventures of Merlin a sad tale of not offering compromise and not understanding each other's humanity anymore. For this i blame kilgharrah, gaius and morgause. They mentored the two into unbelievably strong bioweapons into thinking that they alone were each in the Right.
People are blaming Merlin about Morgana turning evil , while forgotting that merlin also had a tough life growing up and still chose to do good, while Morgana grew up in riches and with a slight challenge chose evil without a second thought.
Morgana biggest problem was her impulsiveness and naivety in the first 2 season, she presumed anyone that she meet had the best intentions think the bandit guy in season 2. She went to the druid not realising that it would have started a war, it was merlin idea but she shouldn't have gone. The dragon should have tried to contact morgana if he wanted to be free, I'm sure morgana would have freed him after there 2nd conversation. Not to say morgana wouldn't have become evil if merlin was honest with her, if instead of sending her to the druid he told her he had magic I'm sure everything would have gone much better. The moraguse scenario in s2 ep12 wouldn't have happened as morgana would have less hatred over uther because morgana would be actually know the bandit guy was evil rather than thinking he was just a regular revolutionary causing her not to meet up with moraguse as merlin would have told her that she's probably evil, but who knows.
@@nani4249 Morgana desperately helping Modred and without a second thought willingly falling into the hands of morgause was actually prophecy fulfilled, she was born to be an antagonist to the ones and future king Arthur, and she actually inherited Uther's wickedness and unwillingness to forgive, because Merlin tried many times to help her and convince her to use her gifts for good but she hardened her heart just like her father uther.
@emperordavid2044 yeah but I think the dragon intentionally made it seem like morgana was more of a lost cause than she was i think it was to make merlin more dependent on him rather than getting morgana to help him in certain circumstances she could be useful. Merlin and gaius could have done so much more than they could have to prevent morgana from turning, merlin did the only thing he could have done in s2 ep12 by poisoning morgana. It was a hard choice but merlin had no idea she would reverse the spell if morgana life wasn't in danger, even I dont know, moraguse couldn't be trusted plus arthur would have certainly died from those random knights if he hadn't poisoned her. And after that point spending a year or something with morgaue had permanently changed morgana (who knows she could have even been enchanted to help with the brain washing).

Yes I know that it wasn't easy to let Modred die as a child but funny thing is that the greatest harm often comes from the best intentions. The druids already knew that Arthur was destined to die at the hands of one of them, that's why the great dragon warned Merlin repeatedly not to help Modred but it fell on deaf ears .

By betraying her it snapped inside her and she lost her trust in people. I do think that she coulve been „saved“ even pretty late. With Aithusa it did show that she still had a heart, that she could still care( besides Aithusas looks represented Morgana) She also cared about Mordred a lot and I think his betrayal, Emrys reveal and mordreds death drove her over the edge at last. I really would’ve loved to see a character arc of her after Merlin’s poisoning in season 4 or even 5. I also guess that is one of the messages of the show: to not judge someone by prejudice, accusations & merits that were not committed. So called „Destiny“ is made of choices. Choices that other people influence a great deal. Eg.: Gaiuses blunt lying about her magic, Merlin’s betrayal and uther not acknowledging her as his rightful daughter did cause her to act the way she did.
