I love Bucharest, I live here, but I must say one thing. It's developing in not the best ways. For instance, the Aurel Persu street at 4:41 - that little street has now traffic jams. There are just way too many medium and high density developments in the area now (and it's not even been all built up yet, the nightmare will only intensify) and the infrastructure can't deal with it. That's what happens when nearly every other person in Bucharest owns a car. Don't get me started on the national shame that is the Cathedral at 9:57 (you surely don't know this, but in that area where Casa Poporului is there was an entire hilly neighborhood of houses, called Uranus, only a small part of which survived to the south of Calea 13 Septembrie). You don't seem to care about lost greenery, nor urbanistic concerns. Anyone can use Google Street View and make a video out of it without having to think. P.S. Yup Romania doesn’t have balkan mountains so its not balkan... Even tho the balkan region is beautiful European region... but Romania Hungary Austria... Aren’t part of the balkans since they don’t have balkan mountains 🏔
Bucharest is 350 km away from Turkish Border. That is closer than the distance to Piatra Neamt, my home city. We may not be completely in the Balcans, but you will find we have a very similar history to other Balcanic people. Language wise Romania is part of the Balcan sprachbund (an area that despite its different language shares a lot of Turkish, Greek and Slavic words due to having had a shared history for centuries.) All Balkans can share a glass of rakija (rachiu) on a veranda or in an "odaia" and eat ciorba (chorba), sarma/dolma or mici/cevapi with guests (musafiri). They can even have serbet and rose jam. Culturally we are genetically also we are most similar to other Balcanic people - Bosnians, Croatians, Serbians, Macedonian being the most similar to us.
@@ralucaganga1974 I don't doubt the similarities between neighbouring peoples, but..if history serves me correct and it often does, we were here with the greek more or less first. The rest came after as migratory people(slavs/maghiars/tatars/etc). Of course habits/customs/food/religion were adopted or adapted. It's only natural. But in a sea of peoples we kind of stick out like a sore thumb :)) Some may be happy about this...others not so much. One thing is certain, we are stubborn :)

As a romanian, Romania has evolved a lot after the revolution from 1989. The capital, Bucharest, which you've showed, is evolving pretty fast, along with other big cities like Brasov, Oradea, Timisoara, Cluj Napoca. But still, the video only shows the best parts of Bucharest. In neighborhoods like Rahova or Ferentari, things didn't change so much, apart from the cars people have. In other parts, a lot of apartment buildings are made uncontrollably and without standards (it leads to unorganised places and crowded streets- Ghencea). In places like Pipera, things changed in good in the last 15 years and if you walk on there you feel like in a western city. But Romania is still behind western europe. New highways are being built right now and this is what should help our country become better. Entering the Schengen area would be crucial and would save time and money for everyone.
I would wish to see evolution of the arc de triumf in Bucharest. The last renovation was in 2014. I see lately that Wednesday series was filmed only in Romania 🇷🇴 08:01 on this street is Andrew tate house!

Decent city. with lots of flaws
Paul, you're not a very good geography teacher at all. Romania, therefore its capital city of Bucharest, is not in the Balkans. Check your sources, which it won't be hard to do, and make the necessary corrections.
Until new ring road is completed, Bucharest will suffer from very poor road infrastructure and horrendous traffic (and some totally idiotic traffic rules which we'll need hours to analyze). Central and near central locations remain better for living without the need to take your car (is a must if you can). A lot of areas in the periphery are built without having proper city plan and infrastructure. So you may see new block of apartments growing like tree leaves in the spring, but roads are very narrow, or non existent at all (so no asphalt, full with mud, dust and holes), sidewalks are inexistent, as well as recreation areas (parks, etc). You have this feeling that the constructors are trying to squeeze every single square mm for the blocks. In comparison, Brasov has WAY better road infrastructure than Bucharest, although it is 7-8 times smaller in population.
You can’t get rid of them! They make more than 70% of buildings in Bucharest! They need to be modernized and painted like they did in Poland. More than that you can’t do anything. The damage was done.
You are crazy. Romania is a Carpathian country, along with Poland and Uchraine. Belong of mainland of Europe. You are stupid. We have nothing to do with balkanik culture

So I think it will continue to accelerate. They will probably also build new buildings on the streets that had unsalvageble ruins and / or simply empty lots, completing various street fronts. Some of those buildings will maybe be inspired by older arhitecture, tho not many examples come to mind.

P.S. A lot of shots from here are not in Bucharest proper, but in Voluntari.
The cathedral is not a shame, and I am not even from Bucharest. Don't make your opinion based on some rumours yet, what until it is done and see for what purposes it is used.

Romania, therefore its capital city of Bucharest, is not in the Balkans. Check your sources, which it won't be hard to do, and make the necessary corrections.

We are not Balkan !
