I love how this also works with other parameters to populate the sub-values! My use case is wanting to see the overall category distribution while drilling into a sub-category distribution where the sub-category varies depending on its parameter selection. So now I can drill-down by a variety of dimensions. So great, thank you!
Hi Andy, I don't see Nested sort option as you have shown in video (@ 1:53) and also don't see in add actions drop down "Add Parameter Actions". where am I going wrong?
Thanks for this wonderful trick. Can we change the color for sub categories e. g when I click on category (furniture) then sub categories come up with different color, that will make easier to understand with other category.
Hey Andy, this video was really helpful, but I am facing a problem, when I am integrating this graph in a dashboard drill down is not working, do I have to some changes in dashboard as well?
Hi Andy, this is fantastic..I'm able to do this for one level but struggling to understand how to apply the same concept when there's multiple levels that I'd like to drill down. Can you give us an example? I don't use set actions because the table shows blanks when not clicked, so parameters look a lot cleaner when using a table view.
Great stuff Andy! Is it also possible to select multiple categories for drill-down`? Right now it only works for one but what would need to be done to make it work for multiple?

Hi Andy, Would it be possible to do multiple drill downs? For example Category to sub category and then sub category to sub category 2 ? If yes, how exactly?
Thanks for the tip Andy, I do have a problem with the sub category list being too long (50+) on some selection. So it all cramped up in Dashboard view when I click on the selection, what can I do to resolve this please?
Hello, thank you for this video I have two questions : I am trying to make a treemap with 3 levels (categories, sub-categories and products), and a filter at the more detailed one. When I deselect a product, I want it to come back to the categories treemap level. I think it is pretty much the same as your example. But I have a problem, the drill down is working with a table, and not with the treemap. Any idea of why ? The second problem is that I can’t hide the categories/subcategories when they are not selected. I tried with an action filter but it didn’t work. Is there a technical way to do that ? Thanks in advance for any help
I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. It must be something to do with the treemap. A treemap is incredibly difficult to understand, so I'd recommend going with a bar chart anyway.
Thanks Andy, is it possible to drill down with measure values? I have created some measures, but I would like to include the calculations that made that measure. i.e rate drill down to the questions that created that rate?
Andy Thanks for this time-saver idea, brilliant! I, however, have issues wherein the action won't work on the tableau server, it works fine on tableau desktop
Hi Andy, I have a requirement where on clicking technology I need only the corresponding subcategories whereas Furnitures and office supplies must be hidden. Is there a way to achieve that?

THANKS I did this and have it working in the Worksheet, but when I put it in a Dashboard it did not work. I did got to Dashboard Actions and checked 'Show actions for all sheets in this workbook." Hi Brenda - You can make your Worksheet Action function on a Dashboard by changing the way you originally set it up. In the Action’s settings change the Field, Source Sheet, from the Sheet to your Datasource. This will make the Action function on your Dashboard and prevent you from having to recreate the Action on your Dashboard. Hope this helps!

You must not be following the steps exactly. Try again from the start.
Thank you! This is perfect! - I do however have a challenge .. when moving to the dashboard (floating) the drilldown feature no longer works??
Once it’s in a dashboard, you have to set it up again as a dashboard action.

You need to create the action again as a dashboard action.

You have to create it as a dashboard action.
