I just love how close the camera is pushed in, makes it feel like you're flying thru the city with spidey as opposed to just watching him
One disadvantage is that it makes you feel nausea as it's soo pushed in yyou feel disoriented wish we could adjust the camera like in other games

These graphics look better than the game sequel... and the animations are smoother (althought the swinging isn't as realistic, ish)
I feel like its more of a change in art style than graphics to be honest. This game was leaning more on the real world take of the movie, where as 2 tilts more in favour of the comics. The animations though, do look better in this one.
SnakerPace The sequel graphics look more cartoony (which I guess relates to what you're saying), but it's weird because a game released 2 years later has less realistic looking draw distances and map boundaries, among other things.
Justin Kreule Could simply be a case of developing for new hardware, time constraints probably meant they had to make the game less optimised so reduced draw distance and other stuff? I dunno, part of me just wishes they would go back to making good Spiderman games again, the potential for good comic book/superhero games has been through the roof for years and only Rocksteady have really grasped it.

Justin Kreule The main problem is exactly that, time. I believe Activisions contract for the Spiderman licence requires a game every 2 years or so. The only way it would work is if they allow other developers rights to Spiderman aswell, but in the shadow of Call of Duty and now Destiny, Activision's little games like Spiderman probably wont get the budget, advertisement and time it takes to make a great game.

I agree. The webbing needs to actually have some physics of being attached to a building but I’d rather have this style compared to today’s Spider-Man game

This game was actually one of the best childhood games I played
What I loved about this game was the music. Ahhh, the music felt so good while you were swinging through the air. And also how Spider-Man sometimes yells out of fun! *YEAAAAAAH* *WOOOHOOOO*

But what game I love is tasm 2 pc because his webs attach to walls and it's some great swinging graphics it has so good suits
But I love the most is miles Morales PS5 with the programmable matter suit and it has the greatest swinging of all times
While this game isn't great, the swinging was really invigorating and fun.
The swinging was complete ass. It was one of the worst in the entire franchise since SM1, when it comes to the swinging. It was so incredibly automatic most of the time. It felt like just one big canned animation. It was physics-less, and took control of most of it. The camera position through most of it is shit, probably to hide that the player has little control over the mechanics. When you get near the ground, you can't collide with anything at all. The game just takes complete control of all of it.

@@z-chan946 the motion blur and camera just hides the fact that the animation + physics looks wonky as hell. Yes, when you dive the camera adds a sense of weight and acceleration but after that it's just bad.

The combat from this game is so fun, unfortunately the sequel is so boring in every aspect
The combat and stealth takedown is the best things in asm2 and the web swinging is legit in asm2

I'm not sure how I feel about the web slinging in this yet. On one hand, the fact that you don't need a surface let's you go higher, and makes it more smooth in that you don't have to drop down to find a surface, so its very easy to get around. But on the other hand I liked that you had to use real surfaces in some previous games, it made me feel a bit more like spiderman, and it made swinging around slightly more difficult, in the you had to look around for buildings. Not sure which I like more

This game is a childhood game. I remember getting in the Christmas of 2012 and I was so excited. I had asked for the game ever since it had came out in June. Back then, those graphics were pretty decent.
But now, in 2021, the Marvel’s Spider-Man is now out and craps on this game, but the one thing I loved about this game’s swinging was definitely the boost it gave you with air. On the 2018 Spider-Man game, the web slinging feels nice, but the vibration gives swinging kind of a rocky and odd feeling. With the 2012 game, the web slinging feels smooth and feels as if you are swinging on silk.
You get a lot of air on the 2012 game with makes the webs feel with rubber bands with also was a cool feeling as well.
The graphics were incredible for its time
Looking at it now this game isnt great but i grew up with it and played it non stop and thats why i love it so much

@@suparibhau No, this flight mechanic is practically the best. Because of the feeling, this feeling, when you practically fell to the ground, but at the last moment you shoot out a web and fly high. The camera moves like you're really flying there, it's a fucking feeling. The feeling of speed and drive, the feeling of a she-devil that makes you scream like a fucking spider-man "woooo!!!" . And there is even a share of physics here, because the higher you climb, the longer you fall, the faster and higher you will fly when shooting with a web. The only problem here is steering and catching the web in the sky, otherwise everything is fucking. Also, a web zip is the icing on the cake, which makes already great flights even cooler. No other Spiderman game has ever offered this kind of experience, most webflying in other games has been boring, where you just stare at a dull creepy spectacle. The same Spider-Man Marvel's, where just stoned animations, cringe tricks and lack of physics and realism. You do not even have to do anything in it, just hold down the button and just watch the process. Spiderman will do everything for you. Or in the web of shadows, where there is a cringe spounderman, the web also clings to the building, there is no sense of speed, but everyone liked it. Or Spider-Man Ultimate, where you either fly trash or fly slowly, watching the 3D model not of Spiderman, but of a griffon. In general, this is what I wanted to say. I apologize for the wasted nerves and time. I wanted to speak out.
@@Alan1984B Most of what you said about momentum are present in the new games, wos and siderman 2 so I don't get how this is better. The transition between different animation is pretty janky and there's no variation while web slinging, it's like watching the same animation loop over and over again. The zip mechanic is boring and looks hella scuff when it's just "press a button to fly to a certain point".

It objectively has a better physics system with proper momentum and fluid/varied animations that flows naturally.
I used to love web swinging in this game, I would always try to swing as low to ground as I could
the speed really determines on your momentum of how fast your falling, if you hold the swing button he tends to continue to just swing in a somewhat slower rate. If you hold it and let it go, he swings once and launches himself into the air if you let go at the start of the upwards point of his swinging arc. Other than that there isnt any speed buttons or anything else related to swinging except what you do with the swing button.
My God I still love this game.. I remember watching every trailer about it in my aunt's house every single day.. simpler time man I was only in fifth grade now I'm in my third year of college

The game is fun, but it really depends on if you like Spider-Man or not. The story isnt long and the combat is pretty simple, but there is also side quests and collectibles. If you can hold off from buying it full price then yeah sure, but if your a Spider-Man fan and really want to play it, then you should probably go ahead and purchase it.
They make him like, waaay buffer in these games everytime, can the actors just like grab the heavier dumbell for once?

Spiderman 2 (PS2) swinging combined with the camera angles and animations of this game would be amazing.
I always love this game, and always used web rush more often than I should.
Beenox finally did it, they made a great Spider-Man game. Nothing against Shattered Dimensions or Edge of Time but they just didn't feel like a Spider-Man mainly because they weren't free roam or because none of the levels took place in the city
Having played through the game, there are definitely some images that would kinda point towards an older element, I essentially think its aimed at teens rather than kids.

i love this game so much its so fun swinging around and getting to choose to jump bounce around any where this game might even have better web swinging that insomniacs
there is no weather cycles, and the time only changes depending on main story progression, after thats finished you can go back to your apartment, and choose the time of day, I think theres like 5 or 6 different times to choose.

you cant hold onto the web as long as you want, you can delay it by swinging round in a circle but ultimately you can feel the game trying to speed you up to make you let go, and the web attaches to the clouds not the buildings like in Spiderman 2, this is mainly due to gameplay reasons.
Just in case you haven't found out yet, the Rami suits are unlocked by taking pictures of hidden spiders around the map. One can be found in Times Square.

The web zipping n leaping in this n number 2 was the best out of all the games wish ps4 spiderman had it
The only problms I had with the game were the way you only had to hold down one button to swing, and how he would shout 'yeah', 'woohoo' or some variant thereof every time you'd let go of a web.
We need a HD remake of all the old spiderman games.

I love this game swinging mechanics. Until PS4 arive, i immediately changed to Spider Man PS4. Since i don't have a PS4, i played this game for hours just to swing around NYC
I havent noticed screen tearing in the game, screen tearing in videos is usually due to the Hz of your monitor not matching the Hz of the video.
I really wanted the Sam Raimi movies suit, but I think that was a pre order bonus or something.

After you beat the game and side missions...I guess you just swing around? The game does get abit repetitive after awhile, however its a great deal of fun for a rental.
If you like Spider-Man, you will get much enjoyment out of this game, best Spidey game in awhile.

Its great if your a Spiderman fan, its good if your not. The combat is fun but can get abit samey after awhile, and if you dont mind the web attaching to the air when your web swinging, then yeah, its a good, fun and enjoyable game.
