"Shoukoku no Altair" deserves more recognition. I don't know why it's so underrated having a great plot, amazing characters, excellent music and an awesome manga. The creator of this magnificent series is an historian. This anime has everything to catch people's attention: a good looking protagonist, wonderful villains, a very interesting story based on real events (the Ottoman Empire), war strategies, great battles, good animation, extraodinary background music, amazing OPs and EDs, main character development, etc. I love it!!!! ♥♥♥

mo dao zu shi is honestly such a beautiful masterpiece. from the characters, animation, music, EMOTIONS, and the plot is just amazing. the anime does have a bit of BL in it but don't let that stop you from watching this.

You should include DORORO and Akatsuki no Yona for your next historical anime list! These anime are both grate!
Hyouge mono is a hidden gem, so little serious anime is made nowadays, the obsessiveness about tea jars is a bit of ridiculousness but apart from that it's so deep, and it doesn't overexplain everything like most anime

if youre indeed looking for history and realism in an anime, Junketsu no Maria is the one for you. first off, its a short and sweet series, and every character is written beautifully and interesting in their own right.
secondly, the historical elements are INCREDIBLY ACCURATE!! the garbs, architecture, weapons, armour, tactics, EVEN THE MARTIAL TECHNIQUES, small details such as archers competently using their bows with amazingly accurate technique, armour actually offering protection, the non-fantastical melees being done at proper distance, tempo and with proper technique, like the proper usage of grappling, and small details such as halfswording, and people actually using polearms in battle!
i mean, this is the most accurate and realistic representation of the setting ive seen in my life yet! and its an anime with fucking succubi and a virgin witch that wants to end all wars!

Why do most Historical Genre Anime series/movies always have to take place in either
Medieval Europe and Feudal Japan? I mean they're always going to be 0% Historically Accurate anyway but I've seen the same concept way too many times.
cos Japan never had contact with the greeks or romans. and cos it is made by Japanese people so of corse there is going to be a lot in old time japan
If you want a recommendation DORORO is a grate anime that is not the same as these anime you are "referring". DORORO is a new anime first aired January 2019 untill June of the same year and the plot is amazing

Jyuni Kokuki/twelve Kingdoms is notoriously underrated. Based on a novel, the storyline and character developments are all so fucking delicious. Recommended for anyone looking for a historical binge.

I dont understand why shoukoku no altair got so underrated although the story is good, is it perhaps because its related to turkey and some kind of middle east culture? Not necessarily historical but highly recommend Baccano for it's 1930's setting it has elements of fantasy but its not cheesy or cliché

I've been searching for an anime around 2010, a boy accidentally transfer into an other world while running from the cops, an other world in which gaurdian spirits and swords sorta things exist, and he is unable to control his spirit at first while his spirit protects him on his own when he's asleep or is in danger, i dont have the clear idea but it was something like this, does it's clicks anyone's mind?
Could you please alter the font size of the letters used for the anime titles ? Often the anime title is difficult to read because if the tiny script lost on a muddy background ; its frustrating , especially as some many of the videos definitely interest me. Otherwise , keep up the good work.

When the modern ones have nothing historical about them XD
And several of these animes are either supernatural and still have nothing close to historical.
Only the clothing, weapons and time period sure but the overall anime then idk.
Also drifters is pretty okish, but weird if ur involving different people from different worlds, lands and cultures.
Then theres No Maria.

So overall there's no too many anime with accurate and good historical settings
