I used to be a gamer before i became an old man, and as someone *stunned* by the orginal MArio 64’s graphics when it first came out, i cant explain how insane it is that youve shown this wouldve been possible.

Such a cool hack, the stage design looks really cool and impressive how he changed the entire source code to improve the quality so much.
I really like the attention to detail. Power stars have a glowing outline and make a subtle sound that tells you where it is hidden.
One of my favorite things in a DGR stream is when he bypasses an informational sign to get through faster..... then not know some things..... but solve the situation by harder than necessary means. xD I love that. That's skill.
I actually like reading things in real life...but in video games I find it a chore for some reason LOL

He reworked the code from the original super mario 64, that's why it looks so good and runs very smooth.

It is crazy to think that the n64 was able to do so much more then the game developers were capable of doing at the time. Being able to optimize and increase frame rate when running on an n64 is pretty awesome.

If I'm not mistaken Kaze means Wind in Japanese, which I think is what dude is going for there? Idk, just thought I'd mention it. But yeah Kaze Emanuar has been around online doing Mario 64 stuff for the better part of like 10 years. He's like an SM64 Legend at this point, so it's super cool to see how insanely polished and amazing this hack is, and how far mario 64 hacking has come in general. Gud Stuf!

I will say this regarding Super Mario 3D World. It is by no means a bad game,however I will agree that yes it is the worst of the 3D Mario games. Personally the main complaint I had about 3D World was that I had to complete each stage with all of the characters and I don't get to enjoy the designs of each stage because of the timer.
Comparing 3D World to other 3D Mario games only hurts it. It's a fantastic game when looked at individually.

Oof, Mario 3D World is my favorite 3D Mario.
The thing about frame rates and getting stuff like this to run on Nintendo 64 hardware is that game consoles were never the bottleneck. The limitation of graphics and framerates was much more in TV displays of that era, and game developers programmed around that, because it didn't matter if you COULD make something run at 60fps if the CRTs of the late 90s and early aughts were only good for 24 or 30 at most.
tl;dr version: I'm not at all surprised that this can run on the original N64 hardware. I AM impressed at how amazing of a job Kaze did, however. This is exceptional work!

You can also get widescreen with an HDMI adapter for an N64, just be prepared to restart the console if the game doesn't appear on screen which it doesn't happen often, just very rarely
If it does run on 64 then all the textures would be bit off
