I'm sure it's common knowledge by now but for future viewers to reference: You can actually keep the meter frozen (ideally in the red position for best loot) by not gathering the entire node. So with geologist, gather 3 out of 4 times then move on. It will still reset on the same timer but won't affect the meter, letting you get way more materials.
@@zestro2836 with geologist lvl 3 you can mine each node one more time. So you get more items. Normally you'd go from 3 to 4 (a 33% increase) but with the better strat of leaving one, it's from 2 to 3 (a 50% increase) so it's mandatory for fast farming.

Another TH-camr found a trick to keep red gathering level. Instead of using the 4th swing you get from geologist 3, mine 3 times and move to the next node. Also, nodes create pairs when at red and those pairs *_do not change until the big node spawns._* It is therefore possible to manipulate which pairs are created by spawning the big node until you get a set of pairs that you want. Sidenote: "resets" are when the pairs switch. and if you are mining a node when that happens, it's partner is despawned and the other pair spawned in.
Run through tundra region-easiest to farm and it's all in the open. Just run a geologist set with intimidator jewels+stealth easy farms for however long you want

My build is Knightly Ectis with a Hungerless +4 Dec, Kirin Horn B+ with Geology +4, Geology 1, and Botanist 1. Hornetaur Mail B+ with Miasma +4, Miasma 1, and Sheath 1. Acidic Glavenus Braces B+ with Hard Intimidator 4, Sprinter 2, and Sheath 1, Damascus Coil B+ with Hard Tip Toe 4, Sheath 1, and Antipara 1, and then Death Garon Greaves B+ with Brace/Maintenance 4, 2 x Antipara 1and Gatherers Charm. Skills: Paralysis Resistance 3, Marathon Runner 3, Hunger Resistance 3, Quick Sheath 3, Geologist 3, Stealth 3, Effluvia Resistance 3, Tool Specialist 3, Intimidator 3, Stun Resistance 2, Effluvia Expert, Focus 1 (Not important, result of having Damascus Coil), Master Gatherer, Carving Pro, and Flinch Free 1, The Stun is not overly important, I just didn't like being flashed by Tzitzi-Ya-Ku while I was running to highlands lol. I would run the Kirin Longarms B+ if I was going into the Volcano area for the extra lvl 2 slot to add a Cooling Jewel. Also this build is so decoration slot heaviy that if you have good decorations for most skills like Hard Geology jewel, and others you could put in way more! Also as this build is purely for this run, so I didn't waste time with Botanist. Also finally a video I would like to see would be testing all the various gathering specific skills, like scent hound Scoutfly range up, Foragers luck, etc, too see how they interact with the Guidelands, and also a good all round gathering build for the Guidelands. You’re mistaken on one thing I’ve seen several of the bone clusters spawning in the middle of the floors 7:20 A bone pile spawns right there in the middle of the floor there sometimes
I might be a bit late to the party, but I feel that it is worth pointing out that for those who made their Appreciation event sets, it’s possible to swap out the gloves from this set for the Astral Scarf (Appreciation event gloves) giving you a rank 4 gem slot in addition to the two rank 1 slots used here, making it possible to slip Stealth 3 into this super easy without loosing any of the featured skills in the video.

from a pc player during the event week, i tried this rotation and did 23k fuel in 1h and almost an half. Legit perfect thing to do since u get a lot of points, free materials so u dont have to bother for a while.(also almost 45k research point with the 1.2x from the felyne skill) After that with the steamworks u get all bunch of stuff, a ton of armor sphere, got 1.5kk zenny from golden eggs, 230 steel tickets, 65 silver tickets and 3 gold tickets. The steel tickets are only good for crit ete and wex, but the silver ones drops huge jewels. I recommend every pc player to thumb up this video, follow the amazing work they do and try this out, Piece
4:55 PRO TIP!!!!!!!!! Once you get the bone/ore gauge full, or near full (when the bar turns red) don't empty the nodes completely, leave one gathering point and move on to the next bone/ore pile. Leaving one will let you keep the red bar!!!!!! I haven't tried it out yet, I've just seen it in the comments a couple times and wanted to spread this neat trick.
Would also like to point out i did a run with and without foragers luck, this skill definitely allows for the collection of more chunks and research points. Did a raw 1 hour run and got about ~33 chunks w/o foragers luck and about 27k research points. the next three runs were for ~45minutes each with the perk and was about to consistently get 38-45k research points as well as 29-37 chunks. I figure this may be helpful to those farming for decos.
@@KhoiBoa The available rewards, for a few weeks you were able to get items to turn into decorations at the melder. The rewards changed again however and you are not currently able to farm decorations at the steamworks

I KNEW THERE HAS TO BE A PATTERN! The wyverian Engineer even hints at this if you mess up too much "still not getting the hang of it, huh?" Which would make no sense if it is all random!
I seem to have a greater overall result when starting with square. But this method is still better overall, I don't think the pattern will matter unless the chance for celestial prints is significantly high enough.
@@JadeIsBunny I just tried it.... way more fuel burnt, crappier rewards. Better for time since you can be completely absent, but you'll mostly be getting basic shit like mega potions.
On the build I'd instead reccomend the shamos shades, they have a special skill that allows rare gathering points to appear on the minimap, also come with a few geolagist
Serpentareas Yeah same here did maybe 20k yesterday and got like 3 Gold. But also got around 40 silver and 140 steel and got several good decos like tenderizer, agitator,attack and critical boost. Right now burnnng through 15k more and i hope for 1 or more handicraft decos cause i have zero of them...
have the steamworks gauge at zero, go to settings, turn off internet, close monsterhunter without opening the game (press start over app, hit close) then relaunch leaveing the internet off, yourwelcome
There is no pattern. Several people claim to have found a strategy that gives more succeess, but empirical testing has never found anything outside of margin of error. It's RNG, the best thing to do is just hold R2

Tip for the fastest way to do the minigame: If you have an custom joystick (Red Dragon etc) with turbo button, set turbon for a, X and y. Hold them and you will get 2x the speed of R2 (use something to Hold them pressed)
For using the fuel I'd recommend a basic AHK program because otherwise every 15k fuel takes about an hour. Something like this should work (1 starts it, 2 stops it); "toggle = 0 #MaxThreadsPerHotkey 2 1:: toggle:=1 while (toggle) { random, delay, 50, 100 sleep, delay send, {Space down} sleep, 20 send, {Space up} } Return 2:: toggle:=!toggle "
@@TheFr0z3nF0x I've crafted the full set and gotta say on an awake monster the Mega Barrel Bomb does 315 damage. Plus, it has Agitator so the set isn't bad at all.
There is actually a bone pile spawn in the big circular area at the far end of the coral highlands region that spawns on its side on the ground... It's the one exception to the rule that they don't spawn on the ground. You'll have missed it. It was hard to notice for me and it may just not have randomly spawned for you.
Huge tip someone typed but cant find there name so this tip is not mine: the guy said only mine the ore 3 times so the bar dose not reset which made me make 23k an hour :O more than duble what the video said we will make and you can be more efficient by only going for ore chunck
If you get lucky to get hard intimidator and tip toe decos early on, pink rathian chest becomes a very good piece thanks to built in tool maintenance then all you need to build for is marathon runner. if you want a decent chance to get them early on and the duffel penguin quest isn't up (or you have no luck at it), "Greetings from the Tundra" can be completed in less than a minute (51 seconds is currently the fastest completion time I have) by using a set with mirewalker geologist 2 botanist 2 marathon runner master gatherer and stealth. since there is no combat, and several HR armor pieces hold the needed skills, there is little to worry about outside of Beotodus, and typically you'll finish gathering before he aggros.
The lava area is right next to the rotten vale area and it's a very tiny area, it has about 6 spawn points or more for the nodes. Might wanna include that as well in a future vid to optimize the run even more
Around 12k i got 36 x Golden egg 57x Steam ticket 2x Gold melding ticket 48x silver meld 140x steel meld 2x celestial wyvarian print 20x gourmet voucher 14x King Armor sphere 42x heavy Armor sphere 73x hard Armor sphere 384x Armor sphere+ 202x mega barrel bomb 230x tranq bombs 121x dust of life 224x ancient potion 518x mega potion Did the same yesterday but like 20k and got even more than today. Definitly its worth it even if its annoying as hell and take à LOT of time... but the reward is great and i got several of the decos i needed doing this.
Don't know if it has already been said, but there's an hidden camp right before the intersection between ancient forest zone and the coral Highlands zone, if you build it you can skip the entire "go east" part of the loop
In the coral region in the lower dead end area a bone pile can sometimes spawn a meter before the wall, so not every bone pile spawns at the wall this is an odd exception to the rule
At 7:20, there is a spawn point for a bone pile you didn't mention, excatly next to where you use the Wedge bettle to get up to the final spots of the coral highlnds
Just lvl up ur cristals in the guiding lands almost to max, them farm them but leave the last bit of the cristal u mined left so they wont reset to yellow and then just go auttound and farm the best coal, with theat method u can make 50k an hour
After following most of this guide my last few runs have averaged 10k fuel for every 30mins, just to let you know how great this build/strat/farm is. I'm not using the lance for extra speed either EDIT:ty jinjinx this has helped with alot different stuff.
I don't know exactly where to say this info so maybe someone else will and can talk about it but I tried out the HBG support with the new wyvernheart mod for increased damage and I was able to get 2964 damage from 50 shots which is crazy because I just started MR. So the potential for this to OHKO a monster is there I tried against HR monsters and could pull it off 50% of the time.
Was there a recent patch or something?... Whenever I hold the trigger down for the steamworks it only does 1 rotation and then requires the trigger to be released and pressed down again, requiring me to have to pay semi - attention. (I just haven't seen you or any comments mention this)
It’s always been like this, it’s going to change with the next update tho. It’s going to go trough all rotations possible before it stops so you don’t need to be near anymore.
I kinda made a set just now that's an improvement on the set you showed off for this video. Uses Lunastra head, arms and legs but keeps the chest and waist, and uses a Safi weapon with Anjanath Dominance.
@@seventaru9274 I play tournaments locally so i have fighting joysticks that have the turbo button function and you get better rng if you have the 3 buttons instead of the r2 button but I leave it on to reset the works .. so al 4 buttons are mashing so it wont turn off your console during inactivity..so I end up to 3-5k tickets because I never use my coals ever during this time hope this helps ..if anything find a rubberband that holds r2 and make sure your console is set to dont sleep .
My friend that hasnt played much but has gone with me once in awhile he wanted to quit because he couldnt get decs now ends up with 16 coelecense 3 sharp and 6 mindseye with 2 gaurd ups ...and I was struggling getting one more crit jewel got 6 additional now and of course those awesome 4mix
But if you want to perfect it and always hit just remember to write down or remember 3 patterns and use it.when you make a mistake remember those buttons because it will work on the 3rd try then follow your pattern and if its mistaking again then that will work after your first mistake and after the 2 sequence and the next fails then you have steamworks on lock meaning you get it 100% of the time
I don't think that could be an issue, as long as you focus solely in 2 regions (3 or 4 are going to full your pouch quickly). That's my experience tho.
You missed a spawn point, there is one bone pile spawn chance in coral highlands in the circular area with all the wall jumping shelves, it is the only bone pile I know of that doesn’t actually spawn on the walls
Wildspire biome is just as straightforward as Coral, in my opinion. You can get 90% of the gathering spots I've found by just running along the outer wall (map's edge). I've gotten more wildspire crystals and bones than absolutely anything else, despite barely having gone through there as most of my fights have stayed in the forest.
Jinjinx i have a little more info about the steamworks slot machine game. so when you fail a ton you trigger the 3 cats mini game. if you are doing medium to very well you trigger the steeam engineer and cat mini game. Now i would actually make a video if i had any talent at cutting and editing video segments. So please kindly if my information helps you nail down a much better video please use all i have given you to do so. Once you trigger the 3 cats mini game BEFORE you start pushing buttons (or randoming through) in the mini game take video feed of the whole of it. always make sure to give 10 or so seconds before starting each line to give the needles time to jump and wiggle for video cuts. the reason for this is because the needles act like normal UNTIL you start pushing the sequence. After that the dials lock up until the you finish the current line in the 3 cats mini game (i know you prolly know how to do that but hey just in case). This will give you a clear line of how to target the First needle wiggle in the normal part of the mini game. the second one is always very obvious as it has a wide wiggle before settling down and #3 has a weak wiggle that mimics the first in line wiggle but much much weaker. figuring out how to do the proper sequence is the most importent for when a high bonus line appears (which always acts in round 3 machine wiggle and had RED check marks instead of green). the hint for this has to do with how much steam is around each button because just like needles waiting to check the steam will cause a bit more steam to form around button 1 and less for each of the other 2. but you can generally also sort it on how you would go about doing any round 3 line which is identifying which one is button 2 so you can sort the other 2 buttons out better. otherwise thumbing the R2 button is much easier for all other lines. (so sorry for the mega edit but i read my last line and deleted the double up of info i already did >_
i will say this. for people struggling with the coral/vale route. wildspire area is a good focus area for people not wanting to do the multiple area run. Each area ALWAYS has at least 1 bone and 1 mining node. this means as soon as you take the "last" node of each kind another in the area always spawns. there are just more mining node spawn locations over all in wildspire (not bad since thats where you get steam coal) and somewhat holds true for the other areas. i highly recommend a clockwise route as the wall vines sync up with this. By far the worst to farm is the freaking ancient forest..... the area for mining/boning is just to huge. and they can spawn inside the fishing area to the far northwest which is just plain stupid and cancer as you have to waste lots of time going under the log for the next node and often the large node piles.....
Why can't you see people still screwing it up? XD It is a great set to make though, seriously. Lots of the early MR monsters taken down using a humble Jagras SWAXE with Free Element 3... including Nightshade 😸
I would absolutely love for their to be a pattern in the Steam-Works. I don't like randomization where there's not a hint at all to what the correct combination is.
im also researching how the steam works, ive tried deco sniping methods with upload n donload save files but that doesnt work since its random, but i do find a recurring pattern of 132 and 213 presses most common. ive been getting most success by alternating between those two and inserting 231 and 123 here and there.
As posted on a previous video if you want to make this a bit more passive in exchange for less points per hour you can just hang out in the coral highlands area and do do a roundtour there every now and then with youtube or netflix on. Or use your mount ability and set it to a random item in the area you want to go too. Makes this rather braindead and a nice side activity while doing something else. Doing it full hardcore like in the video is rather daunting but if you can take it all power to you.
Should we do steamworks only when the overdrive bonus is a Celestial Wyverian Print? I've noticed the red tier rewards has a chance of giving you one though I've never gotten one

& right before the bone pile on that roundabout you mentioned there’s sometimes a mining spot right before it as well

Did a raw 1 hour run and got about ~33 chunks w/o foragers luck and about 27k research points. the next three runs were for ~45minutes each with the perk and was about to consistently get 38-45k research points as well as 29-37 chunks. I figure this may be helpful to those farming for decos.

@@KhoiBoa The available rewards, for a few weeks you were able to get items to turn into decorations at the melder. The rewards changed again however and you are not currently able to farm decorations at the steamworks

I KNEW THERE HAS TO BE A PATTERN! The wyverian Engineer even hints at this if you mess up too much "still not getting the hang of it, huh?" Which would make no sense if it is all random!

I seem to have a greater overall result when starting with square. But this method is still better overall, I don't think the pattern will matter unless the chance for celestial prints is significantly high enough.

Better for time since you can be completely absent, but you'll mostly be getting basic shit like mega potions.
On the build I'd instead reccomend the shamos shades, they have a special skill that allows rare gathering points to appear on the minimap, also come with a few geolagist

This setup + farm route is amazing. I did this for exactly one hour and I got 46.000 research points (with the food skill) and 23.100 Fuel o.O

Serpentareas Yeah same here did maybe 20k yesterday and got like 3 Gold. But also got around 40 silver and 140 steel and got several good decos like tenderizer, agitator,attack and critical boost. Right now burnnng through 15k more and i hope for 1 or more handicraft decos cause i have zero of them...

There is no pattern. Several people claim to have found a strategy that gives more succeess, but empirical testing has never found anything outside of margin of error. It's RNG, the best thing to do is just hold R2
if the steamworks is completly random then holding R2 is just as efficient as pressing any other combination

Tip for the fastest way to do the minigame:
If you have an custom joystick (Red Dragon etc) with turbo button, set turbon for a, X and y. Hold them and you will get 2x the speed of R2 (use something to Hold them pressed)

For using the fuel I'd recommend a basic AHK program because otherwise every 15k fuel takes about an hour. Something like this should work (1 starts it, 2 stops it);

There is actually a bone pile spawn in the big circular area at the far end of the coral highlands region that spawns on its side on the ground... It's the one exception to the rule that they don't spawn on the ground. You'll have missed it. It was hard to notice for me and it may just not have randomly spawned for you.
If its the location where tzi zu yaku sleeps, i can confirm this. Its right next to the veins on the left as you enter the area

Huge tip someone typed but cant find there name so this tip is not mine: the guy said only mine the ore 3 times so the bar dose not reset which made me make 23k an hour :O more than duble what the video said we will make and you can be more efficient by only going for ore chunck

If you get lucky to get hard intimidator and tip toe decos early on, pink rathian chest becomes a very good piece thanks to built in tool maintenance
then all you need to build for is marathon runner.
if you want a decent chance to get them early on and the duffel penguin quest isn't up (or you have no luck at it), "Greetings from the Tundra" can be completed in less than a minute (51 seconds is currently the fastest completion time I have) by using a set with

since there is no combat, and several HR armor pieces hold the needed skills, there is little to worry about outside of Beotodus, and typically you'll finish gathering before he aggros.
The lava area is right next to the rotten vale area and it's a very tiny area, it has about 6 spawn points or more for the nodes. Might wanna include that as well in a future vid to optimize the run even more

Did the same yesterday but like 20k and got even more than today. Definitly its worth it even if its annoying as hell and take à LOT of time... but the reward is great and i got several of the decos i needed doing this.
Don't know if it has already been said, but there's an hidden camp right before the intersection between ancient forest zone and the coral Highlands zone, if you build it you can skip the entire "go east" part of the loop
In the coral region in the lower dead end area a bone pile can sometimes spawn a meter before the wall, so not every bone pile spawns at the wall this is an odd exception to the rule
At 7:20, there is a spawn point for a bone pile you didn't mention, excatly next to where you use the Wedge bettle to get up to the final spots of the coral highlnds
Just lvl up ur cristals in the guiding lands almost to max, them farm them but leave the last bit of the cristal u mined left so they wont reset to yellow and then just go auttound and farm the best coal, with theat method u can make 50k an hour
After following most of this guide my last few runs have averaged 10k fuel for every 30mins, just to let you know how great this build/strat/farm is.
I'm not using the lance for extra speed either

I don't know exactly where to say this info so maybe someone else will and can talk about it but I tried out the HBG support with the new wyvernheart mod for increased damage and I was able to get 2964 damage from 50 shots which is crazy because I just started MR. So the potential for this to OHKO a monster is there I tried against HR monsters and could pull it off 50% of the time.
@Josh derp yeah I get that. Maybe with an optimized build it could be useful for large bursts of damage to a monster. IDK how to build sets thought

Was there a recent patch or something?... Whenever I hold the trigger down for the steamworks it only does 1 rotation and then requires the trigger to be released and pressed down again, requiring me to have to pay semi - attention. (I just haven't seen you or any comments mention this)
It’s always been like this, it’s going to change with the next update tho. It’s going to go trough all rotations possible before it stops so you don’t need to be near anymore.
I kinda made a set just now that's an improvement on the set you showed off for this video. Uses Lunastra head, arms and legs but keeps the chest and waist, and uses a Safi weapon with Anjanath Dominance.

Getting a tailraider (idk how the spelling is but the wild cat friends) helps thell gather some outcrops while your doing the farm.

@@seventaru9274 I play tournaments locally so i have fighting joysticks that have the turbo button function and you get better rng if you have the 3 buttons instead of the r2 button but I leave it on to reset the works .. so al 4 buttons are mashing so it wont turn off your console during inactivity..so I end up to 3-5k tickets because I never use my coals ever during this time hope this helps
..if anything find a rubberband that holds r2 and make sure your console is set to dont sleep .
My friend that hasnt played much but has gone with me once in awhile he wanted to quit because he couldnt get decs now ends up with 16 coelecense 3 sharp and 6 mindseye with 2 gaurd ups ...and I was struggling getting one more crit jewel got 6 additional now and of course those awesome 4mix

But if you want to perfect it and always hit just remember to write down or remember 3 patterns and use it.when you make a mistake remember those buttons because it will work on the 3rd try then follow your pattern and if its mistaking again then that will work after your first mistake and after the 2 sequence and the next fails then you have steamworks on lock meaning you get it 100% of the time
I recommend focusing on obly mining or bone piles. When you do both, your itempuch gets full verry quickly. This costs time.
I don't think that could be an issue, as long as you focus solely in 2 regions (3 or 4 are going to full your pouch quickly). That's my experience tho.

You missed a spawn point, there is one bone pile spawn chance in coral highlands in the circular area with all the wall jumping shelves, it is the only bone pile I know of that doesn’t actually spawn on the walls

Wildspire biome is just as straightforward as Coral, in my opinion. You can get 90% of the gathering spots I've found by just running along the outer wall (map's edge). I've gotten more wildspire crystals and bones than absolutely anything else, despite barely having gone through there as most of my fights have stayed in the forest.

Jinjinx i have a little more info about the steamworks slot machine game. so when you fail a ton you trigger the 3 cats mini game. if you are doing medium to very well you trigger the steeam engineer and cat mini game.
Now i would actually make a video if i had any talent at cutting and editing video segments. So please kindly if my information helps you nail down a much better video please use all i have given you to do so.
Once you trigger the 3 cats mini game BEFORE you start pushing buttons (or randoming through) in the mini game take video feed of the whole of it. always make sure to give 10 or so seconds before starting each line to give the needles time to jump and wiggle for video cuts. the reason for this is because the needles act like normal UNTIL you start pushing the sequence. After that the dials lock up until the you finish the current line in the 3 cats mini game (i know you prolly know how to do that but hey just in case). This will give you a clear line of how to target the First needle wiggle in the normal part of the mini game. the second one is always very obvious as it has a wide wiggle before settling down and #3 has a weak wiggle that mimics the first in line wiggle but much much weaker.
figuring out how to do the proper sequence is the most importent for when a high bonus line appears (which always acts in round 3 machine wiggle and had RED check marks instead of green). the hint for this has to do with how much steam is around each button because just like needles waiting to check the steam will cause a bit more steam to form around button 1 and less for each of the other 2. but you can generally also sort it on how you would go about doing any round 3 line which is identifying which one is button 2 so you can sort the other 2 buttons out better. otherwise thumbing the R2 button is much easier for all other lines.
(so sorry for the mega edit but i read my last line and deleted the double up of info i already did >_
i will say this. for people struggling with the coral/vale route. wildspire area is a good focus area for people not wanting to do the multiple area run. Each area ALWAYS has at least 1 bone and 1 mining node. this means as soon as you take the "last" node of each kind another in the area always spawns.
there are just more mining node spawn locations over all in wildspire (not bad since thats where you get steam coal) and somewhat holds true for the other areas. i highly recommend a clockwise route as the wall vines sync up with this.
By far the worst to farm is the freaking ancient forest..... the area for mining/boning is just to huge. and they can spawn inside the fishing area to the far northwest which is just plain stupid and cancer as you have to waste lots of time going under the log for the next node and often the large node piles.....

im also researching how the steam works, ive tried deco sniping methods with upload n donload save files but that doesnt work since its random, but i do find a recurring pattern of 132 and 213 presses most common. ive been getting most success by alternating between those two and inserting 231 and 123 here and there.

As posted on a previous video if you want to make this a bit more passive in exchange for less points per hour you can just hang out in the coral highlands area and do do a roundtour there every now and then with youtube or netflix on. Or use your mount ability and set it to a random item in the area you want to go too. Makes this rather braindead and a nice side activity while doing something else. Doing it full hardcore like in the video is rather daunting but if you can take it all power to you.
Should we do steamworks only when the overdrive bonus is a Celestial Wyverian Print? I've noticed the red tier rewards has a chance of giving you one though I've never gotten one
