    Actually the tradition of the day of the dead is long before Christ, thousands before the Spanish arrived in America, the Spanish modified many deities and traditions to adapt them to Catholicism, the day of the saints is what the Spanish call it, but the true name is day of the dead since in various civilizations such as Aztecs, Mayans, Olmecs, etc, they believed and celebrated the return of the dead to this land.

      We do celebrate Halloween in Mexico but just in a few cities or places, kids dress up with their favorite costumes and ask for candies in their neighborhood, same as the US. The Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition where we celebrate life and death and remember our beloved ones that passed away, so as you can see it has nothing to do with Halloween.

      Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
      ~ John 5:28
      And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

      So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

    It Makes Me Laugh How They Have Distorted This "Supposedly" MEXICA -Not Mexican- Tradition. If it really was Tradition, they wouldn't be painted as Catrinas. Nor will they dress in those clothes of another regions. Las Catrina was to make fun of the Indians. and El Mictlán Mexica was a terrifying, humid and pestilential place, full of putrefaction and various dangers for those who were forced to travel through it.

    • @Aviz-
      @Aviz- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is tradition because Diego Rivera changed the whole concept of it since back in the day. The creator of the Catrina was mainly to make fun of the poor as you mentioned, but Diego Rivera made it into elegancy, beauty, among other. Therefore it was more accepted by the people.
