@@Tatumstantrum haha they have the bye this week - they will not get rolled. Look they should beat on current form North, Adelaide, Richmond & West Coast which would get them to 11 wins. Add to that Freo down at Tassie (60/40 game) and a severely depleted Collingwood (50/50) which would get them 13 wins and finals. Even when looking at the tougher games like GWS away, Cats and Carlton it wouldn't surprise me if they snatch a win or two there. So all up gut feel is they should get 6-7 wins to finish. Of course injuries etc happen and they could go on a losing streak but don't see that happening.
They do and I can easily see them ending up on 10,11 wins. The biggest issue for them is the 0-6 start because they can't have a bad game now, if they drop one of these games (WCE, North, Richmond, Crows) then they will have to win two of those hard games (Pies, Cats, Blues, Freo) I can see them doing Freo in TAS but I can't see them beating the others, pies yes they are injured but they will be pushing for a top 4 spot so will be tough to beat, Cats are vulnerable but it's at Geelong so that's probably a no, blues I think will just be too strong as they will be looking at top 4 too and GWS in the same boat. My thinking is they either need to win all those winnable 4 games and beat Freo or they need to hope those top teams are vulnerable when they play them. Overall even if they don't make it this year they are on the right track and next year should definitely be in finals contention! @@MordechaiK89

The pies in general are umpired differently, they are the AFL cash cow. They need to do a better job of hiding this fact from the general public because it does detract from the sport and people will stop watching if every close game is decided by umpire "mistakes" (that always favour the popular team for some reason)
In my opinion all teams should be looking at two examples this year. Hawks and Pies. They show with a good coach, good structure, game plan and attitude whilst blooding youth you end up winning enough to compete whilst maintaining your future. Look at the Pies for example, Harrison, Mcrae, McInnes, Jiath, Dean, Kruger, Daicos all under 23 (Kruger 24 but alot of injuries) lets say three of those turn into solid players and another one turns into a role player and daicos obviously is a superstar. All of a sudden you pickup another few from the draft and you have 6 or 7 players for the next 10 years whilst your still competing for a flag. Hawks Newcombe, D'Ambrosio, Weddle, Watson, Day, MacDonald, McKenzie, Dear, Moore all under 25 thats your future and within two years they will be a really really good team. If you don't play the young ones you might end up top 6 but you wont win a flag and if you do your screwed for the next years. The swans have done it too perfection, kept Heeney, Papley, Rampe picked up Grundy, Jordan and Adams to play a role whilst giving games to Warner x2, Gulden, Amarty, McDonald, McInerney, Blakey etc over the past few years. If they win this year sure Adams, Jordon might go but youve got a team of under 25yo with another 5 to 10 years in them of great footy. Thats what worries me for Port, Cats, Dees etc yes they all have a few good young ones but their core is older, hawkins, cameron, Viney, Trac, Houston, Dixon and even Brisbane but too a lesser extent. Long story short if you can play youth with a simple but effective game plan and the right mentality your on track, thats why i agree with Kane who always goes on about signing older players to long deals. Sure lock away your beats, Gulden, Daicos, Reid etc but the rest if they want to go get as much in the draft as possible and go again 😅
Take Pies this year, with a full squad we might be one or two wins ahead of where we are now but in the coming years we will be better off by playing those young ones because McRae, Harrison etc would leave without game time and then you've lost two players who could turn into anything, McRae shows ALOT in his few games, Harrison is a goalscorer by nature you can see that in his game those players are worth ALOT in a final. And I hope Fly rewards them if we make a PF or GF just play them. They are learning, Dean is learning from Moore and Howe, McRae, Harrison is learning from Steele, Pendles, J Daicos etc, McInnes from Elliot, Degoey and Nick Daicos is a generational talent who although people hate on your absolutely nuts if you don't think he's already a top three in the comp and could end up being one of the best to play the game. When we played the Hawks I was in awe of those young guys, they have a super bright future and as much as it pains me to say Hawks might be good again I think they are setting up another ridiculous team 😢
Spots Bet won the game for Collingwood, can't have a underdog getting up and potentially costing the bookies millions. Betting agencies are in the pockets of the AFL!
I believe in altering rules to make a sport safer, but at a certain point there has to be an acceptance of the risks involved in whatever sport you choose to persue, you cannot protect against everything and still keep the essence of the sport. Its like if someone drowns in a swimming race and then deciding to take the water out the pool to prevent drownings. Then its no longer swimming is it?
When you try to win by not allowing the other team to win, you will probably lose. Sure, you may have the players to hinder the other team's players, but you're motivation isn't aimed at how you got in front. It's a cloudy goal as opposed to your training in beating the opponent which has had years of training. It's just a way to fail ultimately.
Well said about hawks! David king said last week he only sees hawks winning only 1 to 3 more games and around the same wins next year! So we beat tigers and he thinks they will only win 1 to 2 more games this year! And same next year😂! What is the bloke thinking???? 12 players less than 50 games how could he only see us winning 1 to 2 more games and no growth next year😂! Honestly thats the most bazzar comment ive heard for a long time!!
Hawks are doing great ! Their 0-6 start will make it hard for finals but I can see them winning another 4 games this year, they will need 12 for finals so they would need to win 5 which is probably a 50/50 against Freo, Pies, Cats, GWS or Blues. Next year they might have a similar year it all depends on their growth and the rest of the comp too but they are definitely a finals level team over the next two or three years imo
Don't forget next year they'll move into the "middle six" of fixturing, so that's 4/5 games less against the bottom teams and more against freo, dogs etc... generally tougher matches. Can they improve w/l? On their form, probably, but can they push into top 4 (15+ wins)? It'll be tough.

North missed out on Reid because they refused to tank now some idiots are accusing them of tanking. You dont get 9 goals up trying to tank only a fool thinks that way and you dont tank against Collingwood. You tank against a team you are expected to beat not a team you are not expected to beat.
The AFL is precious, coaches have to accept all free kicks or missed ones! Umpiring could be better, but if game is by decided on poor umpires, cannot criticise the AFL! Too many rule interpretations, the basics are finished and complexity of the rules is not about talented players, it’s about having a law degree to work out rules!
As fans all we want is consistency, umpires need to be professionals and held accountable for their performances. For the AFL and Laura Kane to come out and give the "no 50m penalty for Scott" the OK shows just how out of sync they are with the game.
That was the only missed call all game. There were no other bad calls. Actually only the ones that didn't go north's way, despite the grey area in the rules, it was a clear rigged robbery. "Totally fair neutral supporter" here.
I was filthy with how the umps played a major role in the comeback. Plenty of soft freekicks given to the Pies in the second and they missed some easy ones for North. The freekick count went from 10-10 to 24-14. The Pies were also effectively gifted a goal through a 50 when Powell got the ball back to Daicos as quickly as he could after identifying the player he had to throw it to. North are then denied a clear 50 at the death when that very likely would have resulted in the winning goal.
what helmets do you suggest? rugby scrum caps? They don't do anything to protect the head from knocks, they're purely to stop cuts/abrasions when packing down in a scrum.. the helmets do nothing in terms of head/concussion protection. Angus Brayshaw even said he only wore his for his mum.
@@jeremyk6560 no I don't... it's a contact sport, you can do everything you want but there will always be accidental contact, doesn't even have to involve two players, someone going up for a mark and landing on their head, and knocks themself out
Helmets don't protect from concussions. Helmets don't protect the spleen, kidneys, ribs etc. I don't want to see the speccy gone, but helmets aren't the solution.
There is no excuse for blowing a 9 goal lead. This is not a school or a training ground. This is very the top level of elite sport. Man up and do what it takes or you will fail. North failed. Yes, there are many positives and the progress is clear and good. I expect next year will be better and the year after better again but I do not accept softly, softly, good try, everybody wins a prize type mentality and no champions are built that way. The best are forged in the crucible of hard truths of reality = Work harder, overcome whatever is put in front of you and that is where glory is found. Aim for mediocrity and that is the best you will ever do and most will fail at that. Better to aim for glory and at least you will have a chance at it if you are good enough.
As for the rules and injuries. Bucs you say it is a croc if the AFL are trying to eliminate all head contact. WE ARE ALREADY THERE. The game as it is now is impossible to umpire and impossible to play to the rules because of the dumbest rule changes in all of sport introduced in the last 20 years. The twenty years prior, the AFL tried to encourage running and movement and keep the ball alive. Then some how, imbeciles were put in charge and we end up with "STAND" and two ruckmen standing next to each other in a ruck contest not allowed to jump at each other or the ball. Then there is the stoppages that every has to wait for the umpire to find two guys with their hand up. Possibly the worst of all is the idea that it is up to the opposition to protect your health and safety. It creates a perverse incentive for players to milk free kicks..... The complete opposite to the previous 100+ years of football = protect yourself and go for the ball and the rules will protect you is a thing of the past. This product is unwatchable in most cases compared to the 1990's. It is catastrophic to the games integrity and counterproductive for everyone's health and safety. Current and recent past leadership has failed our game. Media is pathetically complicit and these are greats of the game from it peak. Man up guys and criticise the ineptitude of the current AFL direction.
The rule is that if a player decides to play on, there is no 50M penalty. It looks on the vision that the umpire was about to give away the 50M penalty and then the North player decided to play on. The umpire didn't call "play on" until AFTER that.
It also looked as if the umpire was delayed in paying the mark and by the time he went to pay a 50 or whatever he decided the north player has no moved 5-10 meters off his line and the two pies players where running at him. Just all round confusion.
Freo supporters are always whinging that they don't get talked about. Saturday is the reason. Just a bang average side. It was more that Melbourne played bad, so on that basis the Bulldogs are a top 4 lock and a contender. You guys are always changing flag contenders week by week whenever a team wins by a big margin.
lol these two are actually demented. North were clearly robbed. Watching the game as a neutral I almost threw my remote at the tv when the clear 50 metre penalty was not called.
What about every goal being reviewed. Absolute crap unless the guy reviewing is Brian Taylor and can't see. There is a goal to magpies that was shown to be clearly seen touched off the boot.
Just call the north game vs pies game as it was. Yes, north shouldn’t have choked, but they were robbed, I thought every goal for example was reviewed? Obviously not? Multiple obvious throws not called? With one lateon the golden boy, and the 50 that wasn’t? Everyone talks about how the pies win close games but it seems only footy fans, especially neutral ones see that they seem to get the whistle every time they do.. And the media and their fans celebrating like they won a flag after that is embarrassing. Any non pies fan can see the ending for what it was. And no I don’t go for north 😘
Stop lying to yourself. There are no "neutral" footy fans when it comes to Collingwood. You hate them unconditionally. Were you up in arms over the Freo game? Or the St. Kilda game earlier in the year? Probably not...
😂 Robbed?? Since you watched the game so intently, any comment on the Daicos 50 non call a couple of minutes prior to the one your complaining about? How about Xerris Swan lake rendition to get a goal? Scott diving on the ball and then tackled by Maynard not called in the last 2 minutes? Those are just off the top of my head.
@BoclanBenkins after the Freo game they were all "rules are rules" .. but now when Daicos' fist hits the ball it's "nah he threw it" or when a North player runs 10m off mark it's "he was standing still, clear 50"

@@MordechaiK89 they could also realistically lose their next 7 matches. Literally
They'll get rolled by Eagles in W.A this week i feel
WCE they should beat, Crows they should but it depends who rocks up the crows best is good enough to beat Hawks, they should beat north but if north play like they did yesterday then who knows. If the Hawks had one more win rn I'd say they make finals 80 percent. Now I think it's probably a 50/50
So many tears from all the Collingwood haters, I should start selling tissues in here :)

Nothing about Xerri faking the dive over the fence. His free kick and goal.
The pies in general are umpired differently, they are the AFL cash cow. They need to do a better job of hiding this fact from the general public because it does detract from the sport and people will stop watching if every close game is decided by umpire "mistakes" (that always favour the popular team for some reason)
We r the only team how hold shares in the umpires association, so that's right ,right?

Geez I wish Nth got Buckley. Buckley is a genius and wisely stayed clear of the club👍

Cos its never just a linear growth.
And at some stage the comp will put alot more work into how to stop them.
Hes probably right about winning maybe 3 more this year. Next year i think they improve again but they are still a few years off
Hawks are doing great !

Protected and gets held whenever he gets close to the ball with no free kick given to him for it. Might need to get your eyes checked champ.
Daicos probably gives the umpires half his money with all the biased calls he gets.
The thumbnail heartbreak for the kangaroos and bucks with huge grin ear to ear 😂
North missed out on Reid because they refused to tank now some idiots are accusing them of tanking. You dont get 9 goals up trying to tank only a fool thinks that way and you dont tank against Collingwood. You tank against a team you are expected to beat not a team you are not expected to beat.
Peter Wright also turned his body... got 4 weeks.
'You can't smother' lol. Easy on the sensationalism there son
Shouldn't need umpires when you're 54 points up. But Norf were robbed.
That is a free any other time and match. It doesn’t matter what the scores or lead was. And both teams won a half, game was in the air
Umpires save them last week from throwing away another lead and this week it’s their fault.

what helmets do you suggest? rugby scrum caps? They don't do anything to protect the head from knocks, they're purely to stop cuts/abrasions when packing down in a scrum.. the helmets do nothing in terms of head/concussion protection. Angus Brayshaw even said he only wore his for his mum.
@@malbster you want to get rid of the specky? 2024 they cant designed one
@@jeremyk6560 no I don't... it's a contact sport, you can do everything you want but there will always be accidental contact, doesn't even have to involve two players, someone going up for a mark and landing on their head, and knocks themself out

@deepside7 so you wanna get rid of specky? Please read and listen don't come into an argument if you don't know the information.
Kane Cornes is the biggest mule of AFL. Who is Cornes????
@Burningthunder90300 games wont give you common sense 😂😂😂
Kane jumping at shadows and trying to create outrage over rules that haven't been made.
The rule is that if a player decides to play on, there is no 50M penalty. It looks on the vision that the umpire was about to give away the 50M penalty and then the North player decided to play on. The umpire didn't call "play on" until AFTER that.
Which rule is that?
It also looked as if the umpire was delayed in paying the mark and by the time he went to pay a 50 or whatever he decided the north player has no moved 5-10 meters off his line and the two pies players where running at him. Just all round confusion.
There's no advantage from a 50m, he had to call the 50.
