Do you remember what medal she got? I was glad to see it happen, her career at least ended on a positive note- especially after the nightmare of Beijing.
I just wish she’d have been able to go to Rio as an individual. I still think she had more to offer to the sport in spite of her own country acting like a toddler to her.
I have a sneaking suspicion they were not friends with one another. Giulia was very friendly with nearly all of her fellow competitors, but there are some country’s athletes that it’s just not possible- or worth- the effort.
She had several medals she could have won… were it not for unfortunate mistakes. Beam in 2004- the one hesitation and broken connection did it. On AA, it was bars- both times plus in 2004 she had some incomplete dance elements (BBC pointed them out) and in that code it was Uber critical to complete them. In 2008 beam, a missed element did it. On floor? Definitely her error and subsequent frustration from it boiled over. The unfortunate reality was, as fantastic a gymnast as she was you just couldn’t make mistakes and garner medals.
Ross Palmer Because Russia complete gave up on her. You can find her story on the Internet. She trained and trained with the Russian National team, but despite doing well they never selected her to compete in international competitions so she was forced to find another way. Her country turned their back on her and she was considered too old and worn. Pavlova was so talented but her real shot at an Olympic all around medal was hindered because of her coaches lack of designing a creative bars routine that took advantage of her skillsets. She excelled in beam, floor, and vault but always fell short on bars. If you review her scores in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, she had the goods and talent in beam, floor, and vault and was always one of the top scores. Khorkina had similar issues on bars early on in her career, but her coach eventually cleverly designed a bars routine that took advantage of her height and creative skills she could master. Too bad, Pavlova’s coaches didn’t do the same for her.
Pavlova was very good on UB previously, she was the 2000 Junior European UB champion...It was quite odd to see her regress on that event...but part of it was puberty and her changing body.
@@nathalieng4984 Probably more-so the team finals. She for some reason tried to change her second pass instead of her usual whip to triple and her floor score was so low it essentially took the bronze from Russia as well. Pavlova was gorgeous but it's no surprise how they treated her. Look what they did to Grinisha or (to a lesser extent) even Komova.
I'm so glad I found this! I'm glad Pavlova got a medal. I wish she would have won!

Acho lindo a forma com que ela se apresenta! Em tudo! Muito elegante ♥️
This girl was a beautiful gymnast
The exquisite Anna Pavlova. That second vault was the epitome of a stuck landing. Nailed it.
It was the epitome of many things. Bless 😭

So great to see Anna smiling! ♥️
She looked so happy and relaxed, nice to see her enjoying her craft.

Knee operation? I hadn’t realized she’d actually been injured, just that she’d changed country of affiliation. Good on her for coming back from it!
Wish she could have gone to Rio, she really deserved one last chance.
So nice to see her smile and looking relaxed in competition. What was up with the lack of acknowledgement from/to Giulia though, that was odd.

so perfect❤
Anna was a brilliant gymnast who should have won more medals than she did.

@@saragrant9749 Yeah, you're right, she had all the makings of a great gymnast but too many mistakes.
Beautiful ❤
How come she was competing for Azerbaijan?

Also it was suspected that it was because she messed up in the vault and floor finals in Beijing

Oh boy! Her fall was funny 😂😂😂
If you find amusement in that- something that could have potentially caused injury- you’re a pretty small and petty nobody.
