i live in jersey, about 35 years ago, me and a friend went into one of the tunnel complexes we have and pulled out about a dozen rotten helmets, the good stuff had been taken years before... we managed to clean up and body fill and paint three of them, and dumped the rest. now, i wish i'd have kept even the bad ones !
Haha awesome, I’ve heard a few similar stories from people over here too. It’s a shame some of the helmets were just left there to rust really. Even pretty rough helmets fetch a bit of money these days! I’m in Guernsey
Someone said earlier but they are right: the hungarian helmet is a bulgarian one, indeed. Hungarian WW2 helmets were based on the M35 german ones, but had a tab at the back of the skirt (for fixing them to the backpack).
Very nice collection with the added bonous that you can always upgrade the quality in years to come...my first two "german" helmets were a spanish lookeylikey for a tenner and a fibreglass repro shell for a fiver, now im on around 18 unaltered ww2 german helmets and 6 ww1 german helmets.
Thanks :) and definitely not, I've got a few from USA and I don't pay VAT/duties etc. so manage to get them under UK market price. Even then, they're not cheap!! looking at close to a grand for anything nice really... unless you're very lucky!
@@LiamCWW2 I have a Edinburgh coin from 1930's. When I get very old and died I want that coin to be with me whether buried or cremated. Thanks for your response.
Thanks a lot 👌 planet ocean is my baby along with my Graham Overlord Chronofighter and two U-Boats 😄 even got a 1930s Russian watch - believe it was a pocket watch made into wrist but love the ticking sound. Helmets are expensive but watches are even more so!
It was RAL6003 paint that was meant to match apple green but it came out way too light - I will repaint it sometime this year as it doesn't look right unfortunately.

Yep absolutely the plan. I've already sold a few and upgraded... I've now got a taste for it so know what I want :)
Very nice collection, well done, not easy to find nice helmets these days at decent prices.

Really nice helmets
Thanks, it's just the start :) but I must admit space is limited!
Great finds
Always want one of the German helmets, original of course but it is costly since they were wore by those German soldiers. Good collection.
You can always start out by getting relics. They have a lot of character and can be 80,90% cheaper

@@LiamCWW2 i know that feeling 😅
1:33 The first helmet apple green color, is eggshell or satin paint? Thank you!

@@LiamCWW2 I just try to use rust o leum spruce green color but i spray some flat red primer paint, before i apply the final coat!
Found one year's ago just dumped in the woods behind my house. Gave to my aunt her husband was German.
Pretty cool - there are plenty out there in rusty condition like I imagine that one was - it’s the mint ones that are really hard to get these days
@LiamCWW2 Mine was mint even had a name written in the inside and emblems on outside, wish I would have kept
@@garydonnelly8337 mint original helmets with names can definitely be worth a few thousand pounds!
You should collect Waffen SS items, it's worth a fortune. Things like rare Totenkopf rings, insigna for the soldiers and lieutenants.
Aren't there 12?
Shut up and take my money
Soviet SSH-40 , Winter war many -36 were donated to 🇫🇮😂
