Great (and nostalgic 😄) shoot! Amazing images, as usual. Gavin is our favourite photography superhero 😜. And a round of applause for Sophie! Welcome back, we missed you!
If you've missed Sophie you probably missed the other recent video we did together th-cam.com/video/KCsNzfvs5ds/w-d-xo.html and spoiler alert... Sophie will be back in Feb 2025!
That was a real fun video which I really loved ❤ … the idea is great and the execution along with the end results are fantastic 😮 … have a great Sunday. Cheers 😊
Omg! Amazing Gavin. The contrast between the older technology and the beauty of Chloe mixed perfectly. Great job from Sam and Freya on the papers tossing. Gavin you did an outstanding photography work.
Very creative idea Gavin, I love how you challenge us all to stretch our vision for what photography can achieve as art. I want to accept your challenge and think of even more ideas to try. Thank you and Adorama for these wonderful classes.
@@pathatatra260 Gavin I have a problem I hope you can help with. I have two Godox 860 lll speed lights with a Godox XPro flash trigger for off camera use. With a Canon 6D Mark ll .The set up was working great until I take two or three photos then the flashes won’t respond to the camera when I press the shutter button. The trigger on the XPro will fire the slashes on the camera, but the camera has stopped firing the flashes, the flashes will fire when on the camera. All batteries are fully charged but l heaved searched the web but can’t figure it out, you are my last resort, any ideas?
If I was doing a retro shoot like this, I'd have had the Amazing Sophie trying to wind the tape back onto a cassette or moving the antenna around to get a good picture. (You might remember the old days differently, but that's what sticks out for me.) A little more seriously, it's another good video about adding some creativity to your photos. Clever lighting, interesting props, and a cheap, easy background that looks great. This is why I watch Gavin's videos. Lots of inspiration.
Another fun and informative video. For a more retro experience you could have had Sophie slam the phone down. Mobile phones are no fun for doing that. 🐯
Lovely :) I watched Bladerunner again last night (just coz it was on Sky) and I notice the CRTs in it, more now - like in reality they'd gone in 2019 when the movies is set :) One thing Syd didn't foresee :P And a Philips Tandem!! I have one just like that! Same colour n everything. Bought it with my first proper wage (parking cars at the Royal Welsh Show ) Lovely result. Incidentally - the one and only time I've ever worked with Sophie (as a makeup artist) was on a Bladerunner themed shoot.
Man, Gavin you are brilliant!! I'm not sure if you're familiar with Tarkofsky?? But the bit with the swirling and floating pieces of newspaper really reminded me of a scene from that film he made in exile from the the former Soviet Union up in Sweden. He used a lot of Bergman's regular crew and DP. In any event_ thanks for the steady inspiration for all these years!!
@GavinHoey ahhhh I get that now_ totally. Not even all that subtle once you had pointed out to be honest 😂. Although the newspaper as wall paper reminds me more of Cimino's Heaven's Gate, but no _ now that you said that, static on the TV, with all the debris swirling around, "They're Here."
Look like you went with the snow. If you had a pictue or video game on the screen would you approch it the same way with the flicker if there was any? Also dose the reduce flicker in the camera help some?
The only way to remover flicker from TV's of this era is to leave the shutter open long enough for a complete scan. So if you have a game you'll want a shutter speed that matches the refesh rate of the screen (usually either 1/30 or 1/25 sec). In camera flicker reduction is for LED lights which have a much faster flicker and cause their own set of problems 😉
I don't know how you come up with the ideas you show to us but with your level of creativity some days I think you can make a pile of poo look good and artistic.😂😂 thanks for another wonderful video!
One of my favorite opening lines. Might not be as compelling for younger readers, but graybeards like me know exactly what color Gibson was talking about.

This is brilliant! I don’t use grids often, but it does help create a lot of character in these images. Nice one Gavin 😌👌🏾
Brilliant and inspiring as usual!
What a fantastic shoot Gavin and team! Two thumbs up 👍👍

Awesome and such a fun concept and execution was excellent
Loving the Blue Tint treatment, and the Interactive workout for the Behind the Scenes Team !
Thanks Alan. The team didn't know that was going to happen, it just sort of evolved at the end of the session!
What a fun shoot, loved it! Thanks Gavin and team :)
Thanks Lisa, it was so much fun!
This man is a friggin genius .. the GOAT of making something so simple , so good ..
As always a great video!!! What a creative idea!!!!! Genius Gavin👏👏👏👏👏
You are a photography guru for me.

Thanks for sharing. Gavin.
Rad!
That was a really fun one! Loved it!
in the those olden days of picture tube TVs, leaf shutters solved the flicker issue better than focal plane shutters
Fantastic theme! Makes me feel old that none of the props are retro to me lol 😋
Very creative and beautiful work, thank you for sharing.
Magic Gavin 📸 🥂🥂
Thank you 👍

Wish I had kept my old tube TV, great tutorial as always.👍🏾
Gavin your are the best!
Thank you. We have some awesome people on the Adorama TV team and I'm honoured to be part of it 😁
Hi Gavin, i would love to see a photo shoot with sport theme
This is great! I want to try to do a version of this with a pose I didn't see, but clearly remember from the times.

My guy here is the best!!

Excellent video. Well done one and all.
Love it! It reminds me of where I used to live in Lima-Perú.
Great pictures! Thanks for the video.
love it!
interesting video. Looks like fun and also has to make you think how to bring everything together.
so much fun!
Inspiring.... as always
Thank you 😊

Thanks and no, I'm not aware of that film. I was going for a subtle "Poltergeist" inspired theme at the end to be honest!

It would be usefull to see videos like this, using COB lights instead of flash.
No smoke? That's crazy. 😀
Don't worry, smoke will return 😉
@@GavinHoey Little smoke would've been cool! Nice vid Gavin, always love your stuff.

MAY ASK WHAT'S THE SIZE OF YOUR SHOOTING AREA/ STUDIO?
"The sky above the port (is) the color of TV tuned to a dead channel" again 😉
One of my favorite opening lines. Might not be as compelling for younger readers, but graybeards like me know exactly what color Gibson was talking about.
I would take a Photo of Sofie with Flash in Front of her solo and one of the tv solo and combine Both pictures together…
Nice idea and if you've got the time to process all those images together then great 👍
Should have challenged Sophie to dial her phone number on that analog phone.
Sadly it doesn't work but can you imagine anyone today having the patience to dial a number, especially if it contained a lot of 9's 🤣
