    Keep the fuel return going back to the main tank. It helps keep the fuel cooler. If it goes back to the surge tank, then the fuel is looping around from the hot engine bay to the serge tank, back to the hot engine bay, back to the surge tank... By returning the fuel to the main tank you are cooling the warm fuel that's returning from the engine bay. The main tank has a lot greater surface area to cool its contents compared to the relatively small surge tank. Also the surge tank looks to be tucked up out of the way and not in a very high air flow location.

      Thanks Landzend, you make a good point. There seems to be some pros and some cons to each option. I am content with the way I have it for now, and if it proves to work out on track, then that's all that really matters.

      It's going near the engine before it goes INTO the engine anyway. So ... Wth .

    You should consider putting the return after ethanol sensor T'd into your surge fill line. It's possible for the surge to pump dry if the tank is starved. The stock tank should really only serve the purpose of keeping the surge topped off and the surge be an independent circuit

      Definitely had considered my options, and I think I touched on your suggestion in the video, this specific implementation does have one small compromise, but it should still be better than the old setup.

    For your fuel evap system do you run a check valve or anything or how do you have it setup incase of rollover?

    • @Bbeavis
      @Bbeavis  ปีที่แล้ว

      It retains the OEM breather in the top of the tank.

      @@Bbeavis ok i have heard that apparently there is a ball valve inside the tank caged and welded in.

    Great video.
    How does your surge tank compare to Serj Tankian, the singer from System of a Down?

      One is made in Lebanoin, the other is made in China.

    My setup looks almost exactly like yours, except that I don't have the ethanol sensor and I have a breather for our local racing regs. I haven't done any research on the subject, but with the fuel pressure regulator, I suppose it limits flow as well? Does this put more strain on the pump coming from the surge tank?

    • @Bbeavis
      @Bbeavis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could think the fuel pump is work against the reg, but I suppose in a way it's the opposite, and the reg is ensuring the pressure isn't too high, thus letting "excess" pressure out, and keeping the pumps effort to a minimum. I don't know whats the right answer, but that is my thinking.

    What reroute do you have on there? Doesn't look like Anything I've seen before.

    That white board had me thinking he was going to the "hello everybody and welcome"

      Car, whiteboard, technical info and a "hello everybody" catch phrase - it's all part of the Engineering Explained flavour.

    I tried to watch this video to find out which hard line in the engine bay was the feed and return and im at square one .😅

    • @Bbeavis
      @Bbeavis  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For my NB i have marked the hardlines so I don't have to remember which is feed and which is the return (because otherwise I'd forget) - in my car the feed is closer to the firewall, return is closer to the front of the car.
      It may vary/depend on your model of car.
