I believe my life, or at least my attitude about life, would improve greatly if I quit looking at news feeds and spend more time listening to music like this. We are capable of greatness but spend so much time creating misery for ourselves and each other... Crying and laughing at the same time. Life is amazing, short, precious. The big questions may never be answered but at least we have this music.....

You are so right about this music and life! It's also a good feeling to know that there is still people out there like you who appreciate this music that feeds the soul and lifts our spirit.

Barroco inagotable, es una belleza. En partes me recuerda la grandeza de la música imperial de Johann Joseph Fux . Concierto para escuchar más de una vez , ese fagot en 9:23 es precioso ! Bravo Johann Christian Schieferdecker ! ❤🏵

I like this a lot and it is played beautifully.. As an old man I have come to all these "minor" baroque composers late ass a result of the internet and they give me much pleasure.

Johann Christian Schieferdecker (1679, Teuchern near Weißenfels - 1732, Lübeck; German church musician, organist and composer).
His friend Reinhard Keiser, who also came from Teuchern, brought him to the Hamburg Opera House on Gänsemarkt as a harpsichordist in 1702, where he performed a.o. worked with Johann Mattheson.
Later he first became a student, then assistant to Dieterich Buxtehude at the Lübeck Marienkirche. When Buxtehude died in May 1707, Schieferdecker became his successor. In order to get this position, he had to marry Anna Margareta Buxtehude, the daughter of his predecessor, who was born in 1675. Johann Mattheson reported that this condition had prevented himself, Handel and JS Bach from seeking Buxtehude's successor...

So , Schieferdecker was the only brave man who married Buxtehude's daughter ! 😜

Poor Anna Margareta the musical pawn. Of course arranged marriages were de rigueur back in the day. ...

@@mereyeslacalle Yes, but after only two years the luck was already over, because in 1709 his wife died. After all, the marriage produced a daughter, Johanna Sophie.

@@BohemianBaroque Arranged marriages still exist here and there for various reasons. Maybe some should be happy about that, otherwise they would never get a partner. Although nowadays many women massively resist committing themselves to a partner. That then has certain consequences. - Warm greetings.

@@dieterpeszat2105 Commitment is required whether arranged or freely chosen. Marriage meant a chance of security and children and if fortunate affection and understanding. Nothing much has changed although some would argue otherwise.
