Flores Bajawa Coffee Areas, 2023 Journey

- I returned recently from Flores, Indonesia, and wanted to share some video clips. This is an assortment of clips from around Bajawa, not all coffee-focused. I also had some "coffee buying thoughts" which sound more like podcast material I guess. But that's why travel for coffee work is nice: I feel like the context of being on farms and coffee production sites shakes loose these ideas, and gives some perspective to what buying (and drinking) coffee entails from the other side of the supply line. So yeah, there are some long-winded bits basically. It's not all pretty but it really happened. Thanks for looking. -T

Thank you for sharing. I love to watch the trip videos
Love these videos Tom! Nice stills too
Have you guys tried coffee beans from the Philippines? I bought some from an importer from Canada and it was really quite good.
Our cupping lab team tries so many coffee from all over the world so it's hard to keep track. Good to hear. We'll keep our eyes open for some.
So is low-grade coffee really that bad?
It can be but if you roast anything dark enough, any bad flavors can be masked.
And how would a person go about buying some low-grade coffee just to try to see if it's really that bad?
Lots of commercial/truck stop type coffees are low grade coffees. In terms of roasting your own, you can try buying the cheapo stuff on Amazon but it might still be better than some commercial coffees.
