They are neat, but the word "true turbine" would be more fitting if they offered them as a handed fit, so each wheel blows outward and contributes equally to the airflow on both size of the vehicle. The arrangement on the drivers side is how they should function. Pretty wheel though. Glad to see some options appearing.
I agree and yes they are heavy... I really wanted the lighter version (forged) but were a bit more expensive. I'll probably change these out in the next year or so.
I've finally pulled the trigger!! I am not huge wheel buff so this was a pretty big deal for me. I was waiting for that perfect wheel and I think I found it... What are your thoughts?
That’s awesome!!! They do have forged versions now which are much lighter. Plus they are awesome to deal with, all around great company and easy to work with and stand behind their product.
I prefer something other than directional wheels like you are using. The wheel spokes will appear to go forward on one side of your car and face the opposite direction on the other. Non-directional wheels will look the same regardless of what side of the car they are on. Once you see this, it's hard to unsee it. I can only imagine this works against the aerodynamics of your car in some way, but I have not researched it officially.
Sweet, please let me know how you like them would love the feedback. Did you order the forged set or cast? Also please let me know if you don't get a discount.
Hey Troy, thanks for commenting. I am doing a range test now between my 19's and these new 20's. So far so good but there is certainly a difference when going over 75 mph. What that range loss is I'm not 100% certain. I'll keep you posted.
18 to 20 there’s quite a loss, someone did a test at 75mph and I think it was 15% range loss of so just from the 2”. From 18 to 19 it was around 8%? The vid was from that Tesla guy engineering explained.
Yep, you have to change the wheel config and reset the TPMS sensors. I deleted 20” performance and reset the TPMS and everything recalibrated and worked great. They’ll also send instructions in case you don’t know how to do it. Plus the locations of the features have moved considerably since I did this.
Yeah they look really nice. You should clarify that those Good Years may be "winter" rated, which really is just all season. Or do they actually have a "snow" rating? There's a huge difference between the two ratings.
I thought I did mention that these are winter rated but are truly an all season tire. Here is the link to the tire rating for you to check out www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHPAS&width=245%2F&ratio=35&diameter=20&tireSearch=true&filter=y When they list a tire as all season even with the M&S rating (winter and Speed) they are truly an all season which in most cases arent meant for true winter snow. Here is the a snip it of the rating as well, Responsive handling, very good on dry and wet roads plus adequate winter traction. Reasonable comfort and tread life. Branded with the M+S symbol, these ultra low profile tires are designed to provide year-round traction (even in light snow) through tread designs and compounds that remain more flexible in the cold weather to help blend all-season traction with very good handling and high-speed capabilities.
Hi Scott, I am working on an efficiency test comparing these to my 19" Sport Wheels. I should have that Video out in the next few weeks. Early signs are that these 20" (probably all 20's) take a little more energy to move, therefore range is reduced slightly. I have seen a decrease in range when driving over 73mph but anything under is pretty much right on target. Check back for that video.....
Something doesn't look right. Shouldn't they be handed so they spin in the same direction on left and right? The ones on the left look correct but on the right are backward.
All turbines are the same. The rims would have to be made per side specifically. Then the issue becomes how do you rotate them as they will always be off.
All Turbine Rims like these will be different per side they aren't specific to one side of the car. No issues that I can identify, all seems very normal and my wh/mi aren't bad either. Thanks for commenting.
@@gmurf5599 Its truly not, most all turbine wheels are just like this. Yes it would be nice if they were all directionally placed. But I don't even notice it and it does have an impact on range at least not that I can attribute to.
I thought I was the only one who noticed it. One side pushing wind out while the other pulling it in the car. They are like fan blades. This would be more evident the faster you drive. They should make and label them left & right, because one side is, not just defeating, but is making your “aerodynamics” worse. BUT... They look amazing!
@@willaerley7140 I know I did not expect that at all, let me tell you they were down to the bare bones and needed to be replaced..... Turning my sport wheels into a set of winter tires.
@@TheBuzzTechReviews Sorry. What I meant was the sport wheels cost an extra $1,500. I am planning on replacing my wheels, so I will pocket that money, and put it toward the new set. Maybe you hadn't planned on replacing the wheels when you ordered your Tesla...
@@Magicinstalls gotcha, correct I didn't plan on buying a new set of sport wheels. My initial idea was to.purchase an inexpensive set of winter tires but didn't like my options. @@TheBuzzTechReviews They are beautiful no doubt! In recent years I've gone with smaller and smaller wheels, bucking the big-wheel trend. I love 0-50mph and 60-ft drag racing times and ultimately I'd love to have a set of 17" wheels for my stealth, but don't see that anyone has pushed the envelope on the small side so far. For your tests, if you could get your hands on a dragy device to look at 0-60's between the different sets, that would be interesting as well.
Interesting point, I initially wanted these in 19's but of course they didnt make them. I do have a Draggy Meter and do plan on doing that test. I will have to use some old data as I cant put the 19's back on as the tires are pretty well gone. Check back in a couple weeks for the test.

Something to consider, I believe these wheels are around 35 lbs, lot of extra weight hanging on the suspension, most times you want to go lighter

Nicest Model 3 I've seen so far. Great video! Great camera shots!

Maybe I am missing something here, but why does it look like the turbine pattern goes one way on one side and the other direction on the other side?
Your correct as they are not wheel specific. This is the same for all turbine wheels on the market
