I can't figure out why you pulled the tube and changed it with the amp powered up? Why not just turn the amp off. Pull the tube your gonna check. Put the tube in the probe then insert the probe and tube then turn the amp on and allow it to warn up?? This is how ive always used the Probe type bias deal. I usually just check the Plate Voltage right on the tube then measure the Current going through the tube and figure out if im Hot or Cold. Is there a reason your leaving the amp on the whole time?
Tim Stanley when I pulled the tube I had the amp in standby so only power to tubes is the heater, I tend to leave amps on when troubleshooting. This was an early video I had made for people who really didn't understand how to bias or what bias was and why it was needed. I was originally going to do like a tech channel showing how to do mods,build circuits, difference's in tubes and why plate voltage and screen voltage matters, but my job doesn't give me enough time to do this effectively at this point I would be lucky to shoot,edit a video every 2 months , but I did leave the videos up so that if someone wanted to learn some they could.
Do not put the probe in first like he did , you could push onto the top metal pin socket holes and get killed. Put the tube in the probe first then insert by pushing on the glass tube itself !
the pin sockets on that bias tool is so far down it would be near impossible to touch them, however good point made for people who have never dealt with high voltage or amplifiers

if you will look up the diagram for a el84 tube find the plate on the diagram and it will tell you what post is plate
