Hi from Australia Andy. Tell Gerard that if a top twine needs to be rethreaded he only has to stick it down into the chamber and the hay going in will grab and hold it so it pulls it through. Bottom twine is different story. They are a bast###
To do and must be tied of. My Krone has special hooks underneath for twine to come of when needed after rethreading. You said there are knotters on top and bottom. That’s wrong. Double knotters work by needles coming up and bill hook s work to finish that bale then work again to tie start of next bale then needles go down. I’ve been using double knotters and repairing them for over 15 years. Can I suggest when you change balers next you look at Krone. Currently they are the best and run rings around every other baler. But if you don’t have dealer reasonably close that’s a problem. But with only 17 thou bales on it you should get another 10 years. My Krone is 14 years and got 37 on it. I’ll change at around 50 Current models have high speed pickups and can bale at over 16 k (10 mph for you).
