So I ran 2 parallel accounts with both styles. The "sitting like old turkey" account outperformed vastly. Only need SIMPLE RISK MANAGEMENT. And build positions slowly. 34:00 . The hectic trading account is an eyewash. The problem here is the stock needs to offer a minimal volatile perfect entry. The guys in competition trade very very differently for competition. Great interview. Richard, do you know in which period Jim was trading Baidu, Sandisk and NVDA? Also, Jim referred to John Boik's book a couple of times, but he has several. Do you happen to know the title of the book Jim was referring to?
I can help with Baidu. That was coming out of the March 2009 bottom. I traded it. It went from a 100 stock to well over 1000. I think that was after a split. Stock had IPO'd approx 3 years before, but exploded after 2008-2009 bear.
Jim has to sit but if I took anyone learning to trade and showed them 2 simple setups they could learn in a week and size into they would have the world in they're hands minus market risk, trading psychology, is it trending, managing positions, draw down etc. Make what you do as simple as humanly possible and you've got a good thing.
If you bought and held NVDA from the date of this video until the recent top - would be up 400% per share…. Was $190 on 1/24/2023…. Recently hit $974. Wonder if Jim was long thru all this
