The words such as honey and sweetie are normally used when you are closely and personally known known to each other - like close friends, parents/brothers\sisters, husband and family elders. When in profession one has to respect each other and appreciate others' sentiments. Discipline defines dignity. They have very good ideas on day care facilities.

Indira Nooyi, very well spoken, full of wisdom. Small wonder, you are the Chairwoman & the CEO of a company like Pepsico.
And truly concerned about the care for 3 generations along with careers not getting toppled. Giving credit to the husband even when he can't find the peanut butter when it is placed 6" apart was good & in a lighter note.
All around, the 3 wonderful women here need a good applause. A very cool conversation I enjoyed in a long time. Thanks.

And yes it's a fact what she said...women don't support another women at work place the way how it should be ! That attitude (insecurity)should definitely change in women at work place...😊👌👍

Too much lip service about women and work place balance .
Men think that old parents are women's' responsibility and women think that it is women's responsibility .
And when women really take care , they are looked down upon , yes with all the toppings and qualifications , women are considered as the primary care service provider .
And when women come back to work , they have to start at the bottom .

    • @whocares3132
      @whocares3132 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

No I dont know about other countries but in India the culture is and always was farming culture so men used to do hard work in fields all day and women used to do the household and played the role of care taking the family. I wish todays women worked in Field once in their file to experience how hard it is to work in farming field. SO do not PLAY TOO SMART alright? Even some tribe was and still today are matriarchal, women was/is the leader of the family.

I really respect the way it is briefed in this conversation. caring kids' and Parental care.... that's very very crucial... just imagine Indra Nooyi or Anne Marie... would they believe that they would have been successful (lack of a better word) in their executive roles if their kids would have been neglected????
absolutely NO.... there has to be a balance... it really doesn't matter if it is Dad or Mom who is taking care..... even if Dad might not know where the Peanut butter is ( i agree as being a dad, i do not remember many a times and would get to know from my spouse ... my bad... ! but ready to acknowledge and mature.....
the fact is ! most organizations, people are talking more on discrimination, regulations, policies but none on RELATIONSHIP
like Anne mentioned, her son painted a laptop instead of her...
    that's the trigger !
its very relevant and a very critical topic to be discussed.
Its not about Gender, its about a Family....
lets take Jeff Bezos for example - how did he build and grow Amazon? his strategy was disruptive, innovative, collaborative and right timed.... just imagine if his spouse would have initiated separation within two years of Jeff incubating Amazon !!!
the world would have not witnessed a great company....
Similarly, just imagine if Indra Nooryi's husband would not have agreed to move to Connecticut or she was not married to HIM.... :-)
then PEPSI would have been history as "Performance by Purpose" would have not been there....
this conversation was looking for solution... I think, we have it but we are too ingrained into other things that we cannot see it....
we know the answer but we are not realizing it....
if interested, contact ME... (don't worry, will not charge you a cent !)
That's one of my Purpose.... !

How about reducing number of work hours to 30 or less per week? Automation is another component, that is going to force us rethink of our relationships, self worth, familial roles, societal responsibilities etc., and jobs, because automation doesn't care if you're a man or woman.

This is an asian era. Indira represents that. In 20 years BRICS countries will overtake world economy. In Africa, they have more options like India and China which will handle them on equal foot unlike the West. Panama papers is also a way of Americas way of creating political problems in BRICS. Why dont we see any americans in the liat?

DeeGirl good question and that's what Indra mentioned: that's why quality day care is so important because you can't expect your parents to take care of the baby for you - not every one has that luxury. What if the parents want to retire and travel around the world? They should be doing that instead of taking care of the kids.

This is the reason that women are only 5% of all CEOs. Because women don't have the choice of not taking care of children, elderly parents, family members, family. Men historically have not had to make any sacrifices to handle things for the family, child, parent. This is an enormous load on the woman. Until men step up and say i will take on this stress, this load, this thinking, this decision making or I'm going to advocate like crazy with all the top leaders that we put in support systems for men and women to allow all men and women to have an equal opportunity to achieve their career goals - to become senior leaders and CEOs. If the support systems are in place, you'd see women rise to top levels very fast.

Pepsi, we don't need to lobby Washington for even more company tax breaks so that you can run an even more profitable corporation without giving your employees the services they truly deserve (for the extreme corporate hours you force them to work) and those services they will be paying for, example: an in-house daycare.

    • @Iamlatha

In this era, sometimes I feel, whether this women at work is over stressed and over dignified. I am a family man and my spouse is working, to work out the family is a shared love and that's the approach for us
While respecting the unique things which women do in a family, being it pregnancy or anything else, don't we think that the man equally plays a part to get the role of a women as a mom successful, countless sleepless nights waking up with the mom and baby, running to the medicals for that cough cyrup or that urgent things all the time
Being to meetings in the morning with red eyes lacking sleep and also expected to deliver results without complaining
Missing that hug and kiss from the kids as yiu leave to office before they wake up and come back after they sleep and why because we want to make a living and the demands of the workspace
I admire leadership and not men leadership or women leadership, so it doesn't matter what gender you belong to but it matters what you offer to your followers to follow
At the end of the day, I would be happy that all my C suite are women because they are the best to do that job or the vice versa.
