    Sometimes you learn more from failure than success. Hope all bounce back and grow from this experience. Everyone who gets on the field is a winner in at least some ways, to compete and lay it on the line. Respect.

    They should drop down a division. A non-scholarship D1 program lost their season before it starts. You’re selling points to 3-5 stars are; the smallest program in the division, minuscule budget, 50k yearly school bill, no priority scheduling, coach can’t mandate players to show up to practice.. not many HS stars are gonna bite at that. Drop to D III where no school has scholarship programs.

    No matter who the coach was this team would’ve had a losing season. They had a losing mentality and not enough talent to keep up with the bigger teams.

    • @bentrujillo6406
      @bentrujillo6406 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      They had a losing mentality because of the coach wouldn’t you rather play a field position game and win 17-14. Rather giving your opponent only half the field to go. Taking phones on a road trip these guys aren’t kids you have to trust them. He had such a ego that he sat his running back to prove a point look at me. Your losing guys left and right and he can’t even see it. I would have gotten more out of these kids for sure. Trust me when you coach a team as a team and you don’t treat people like individuals you are gonna lose your team. Not every kid is the same you have to figure out how you get the most out of your guys.

All of these dudes were literally walk ons the college stopped giving out scholarships, which caused most of the seniors to leave and on top of that they had less time to practice because athletes don't get to sign up for classes before the rest of the students unlike at other schools. If they had a coach that adapted and got on the same page as his players he wins 2-4 more games.. you lost this team being you/ Urban Meyer.. You can’t come to the D1 level acting like Meyer it’s like Meyer going to the NFL acting like himself. People don’t listen when your not a players coach as they grow older

    • @zayne9785
      @zayne9785 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you could put the blame on him, but seeing as how he didn’t get to meet his team until the season started and develop a relationship and base structure with the team, he was basically walking on one leg through the first half of the season, after the 72-0 loss the whole team was demoralized and anything he tried didn’t seem to work. But yes his philosophy did cost them crucial points which would cause bigger gaps that they would have to work harder to try and win. They did end up changing towards the end of the season but by then the damage was done. But you can’t expect a coach who was in high school for so long where he dominated with this specific coaching style that he’s been doing his whole career and expect him to immediately be great with his team, especially under those circumstances. (Edit: by all means I am not a D1 player so if their is anything I missed then I would like to know)

    • @goldsbym
      @goldsbym ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it seems like the average successful coach in college must scream and yell profanities, must demoralize the confidence and the intelligence of each player. Must fight with his players and of course must fight with the assistant coaches and staff. And last but not least must lie to his players making them think they are NFL superstars while holding a degree over their head but at any moment it will be taken away and the player will be sent home. 😅

    Honestly he had no business at Presbyterian. He would have had more success at another school, Presbyterian has historically been unsuccessful at football. The fact that they won any games while he was there is a miracle.

      Lol exactly, he doesn't show them how to improve, and work on ways of fixing their mistakes, instead he just screams and yells at them. Then they go out there and have no confidence. Just beat the life out of them with this rage mentality. Lol i just don't think coaching them like pop warner little league players works on the college level. Look at Bill Belechick or Andy Reid. Yeah they know how to get their teams fired up and better in practice, but their not on the sidelines the entire game whining at them like their high school kids.

  • @GStat7
    @GStat7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    A lot of these guys seemed like they had bad attitudes going into the season, but I also didnt think it helped the way the coach just whined and complained and barked at his players everytime they made a mistake. Your job as a coach is to make them tough, and to help them improve as men by lifting their spirits. Taking the plays where they made mistakes and practice, and showing them how to execute those plays correctly in practice, and drill them over and over again. But when game time comes, staying positive, not beating your players down or treating them teenagers. I think he lost the morale of his team by the way he beat them down. You gotta get them fired up, lift up their spirits, motivate them to be better, not sit there and continue to whine and nag and remind them of every single thing they did wrong. Their very aware of that; pull them aside and show them the right thing to do, not remind them of the wrong things they did.
