The skirmishers came from there. Those are the Rogers' rangers, 20+ skirmishers. He activated those special improvements on church using a card at 7:54

Church card gives 3 extra shipments option: Red line =+20% inf HP but they lose 25% speed (so not very good) , Black watch =1000 food for 8 highlander shipment, Roger's rangers: ship 22 guard skirms for 2000 gold.
