Well played, Pete! Turtling is probably the best strategy when it comes to playing with a bunch of low ranked players, you just sit and let others kill each other, especially works well when your opponents are clueless about the balance of the game (like in this game they were totally ignoring the fact that you're getting so much more powerful in comparison with them while they're continuing to attack each other) and take the alliances very seriously (while in fact you just simply send the alliances to all of them 😂)
The word alliance means different things to different people I think. In real life I would never offer 'and alliance' instead I usually offer a deal, something given for something taken. Because we lack the ability to communicate on this fundamental level in fame, so far, alliances are the only tool at my disposal.
Yes yellow was propably not caring at all, that white was getting super strong and the game would have been diffrent, if green attacked North-america, instead of Africa. I think yellow just should have kept holding Europe to build up his troops, when Europe is the best continent to have, when its the hardest one to hold being in middle of everything, but instead yellow handed the game to white by attacking green, when wasted all troops there, while white got a lot of troops in start, because nobody challenged white for north-america, while purple had less troops eleminating blue out in the start of the game.
Your explanation at 24:01 about making your take look less threatening was very insightful. I'd never thought about how a take might make the map look.
Fixed is the most psychological form of risk. The better you can predict where your opponents heads are at the better you can use that information to your advantage.
Blue was the host of the game so it was funny to see him go out like that on his own settings. Purple chose first so blue going full no Australia no win, served him right.
I see you going hella slow on purpose so everyone thinks your a novice until you strike like lighting... all of your opponents were slower than molasses.
Hey Pete, I’ve been watching for about a couple weeks now, and I thought you should know how much your channel helps me stay happy. I love the energy you bring to your streams, you’re definitely the guy who lights up the room when he walks in. Anyways just wanted to say I love your intro, and I hope I’m not the only one giving you a namaste👏🏻 back, and I hope you and lil Regi are doing well! P.S. I laugh at your jokes, even if none of your friends are!
My jokes are for me first. Maybe I'm an acquired taste, but at least if I find it funny then it's authentic. I'm grateful that you're here and enjoying my work brother. Namaste to you!
I thought about that. My logic in the moment was I didn't want to incentivize green to start stacking there too much. I knew that in order for my game to go well I needed a friendly border on Mexico for as long as possible. And since he had the continent and was starting with 5 troops, I needed to make sure he didn't get the bright idea to attack north. But I agree with you. It could have gone either way. He could have seen that as me threatening him.
I remember one game i played, it was 4 player and somehow we paired off into rivalries. It was so dumb, and it lasted so much longer than youd think. I was feuding with a player, and the other two players were feuding wirh each other. None of us seemed to give a shit about winning, just as long as we killed who we were fighting. No strategy, just constantly attacking the rivals. Im actually smiling thinking about it because it was kind of fun. At one point we were all maybe 10 turns in, nobody even had a continent yet, and someone said "Nice game" with a laughing emoj and everyone else replied "🤣" but it was too late, we were all out for blood.
Yeah there was no reason for me to get involved in that situation. Might as well let those guys grind each other to dust and pick up the pieces afterwards.
Love watching you war and hearing your strategies. Can't believe I enjoy watching someone else play a video game. lol Keep up being an excellent host / educator.
@@dibwav all alliances get broken eventually. I'd rather be the first to break it and take 1st then wait to be broken and settle for 2nd. You have to strike when the moment is advantageous. In real life I'd never be so disloyal but it is a game of world domination after all guys
For sure. I've been trying to not always set up games but from time to time join others games as well. Manual in fixed just accelerates the game to turn 4 or 5 I find.
Wow; talk about handing you the game. Loved the strategy though: friends with most, don't appear dangerous to all, build up while they knock each other down. Then it's too late. Great content as per usual, Pete ;)))
For fixed all manual setup really does is advance the game 4 or 5 turns to the establishment of borders and equilibrium. In prog it's more dangerous because you risk being locked out of much needed external positions.
I enjoy watching strategy gaming... Somehow we have the same chair, must mean genius level gaming! Keep at it dude, you have some good content for a game I don't even have the intention of playing.
So in this game you played well and took advantage of the big continent while everyone else was fighting. But the biggest thing to me that stands out is at 17:53 you could have killed the two bots for their cards and matched in twice. They only had a combined 16 troops which were mostly 1's so you would have increased your advantage even more. I have seen that happen in other games of yours as well, killing people in fixed when they are so weak can be a big advantage.
Devil's advocate to this would be I actually don't think I wanted to fly too high right away. Could have scared my opponents into doing something to deal with me? I've been in that situation enough times before where I get to a leading position too early and everyone decides they have to kill Pete ;)
Suppose that move was calculated. I have found that coming off to a too strong early lead can trigger the board to collapse on me. In this case I thought protecting my guard in NA and letting the Green vs Yellow war continue was a better move than making a kill and putting all eyes on me.
26:00 What yellow should have done, was completely take South America, then park in Africa as an FU to Green. Green would have needed to commit serious resources, while having less territory and troops, against Yellow, who'd be in a stronger position with Europe and South America. I doubt you'd have attacked Yellow at that time, and Yellow could have asked for an alliance. Whether you'd accept or not... well...
I know you prefer progressive, but i enjoy fixed more (even though it can be a slog). Fixed, 60second turns, automatic placement, classic map, no alliances, no blizzards. Im boring that way i guess. The new maps they make can be fun every once in a while, but its very novel for me.
just subscribed, enjoying the play and got back into risk after watching you.. although wtf is it with player disconnects in ranked and you get no points.. i.e guy with 108 stack attacked my 120 odd stack and lost .. just disconnected.. I went on to win the game but no points.. not my fault!
A player that bots out in a game finishes where their bot finishes. So still worth skillpoints in terms of rank. A player that starts the game as a bot is worth zero.
BTW, another dumb question but when I watch your Global Domination games the players all have at a glance "stats" IE territory and troop count but my games don't? The card counts show but no stats. Am I simply missing a setting or something while I am setting up the games? Or is it because I am playing the Bluestacks Mac version ya think?
World domination Risk is all about choke points. For example, Siam is Australia's choke point, Brazil and Venezuela or South America's choke points, Central America, Alaska and Greenland are North America's choke points. These are the best three starting positions, North America, South America, and Australia. Europe, Asia, and Africa have too many points of attack to be well defended. Green's first move should have been to attack Central America and control both choke points on the North and South American continents.
Please don't take this as criticism but a learning moment for me. I don't understand why, at 17:52 when you had an 18 stack at the upper left you didn't simply take out blue's 4 territories for his 3 cards? I am just a rookie but it seems like the play would have been to take Japan eliminating oranges external position, then blue then purple (again eliminating purples external position) then finish off blue. Get the 5 cards match turn in and make a decision at that point how to fortify. ?
@17:40 I thought Purple would kill Blue… then you had the opportunity right after. Why did both of you leave Blue on life-support? He had 3 cards for the taking
I think the point was trying to not look like a threat, taking that much of asia, and those 3 cards would have made him a threat, and probably gotten him a war on 2 fronts.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy understandable, but doesnt it get boring if its easy to win every time with no effort? or does each game still take considerable thought to pull off the win?
