Gameplay felt polished..but not very distinctive. No replay value but then again I didn't think anything before Code Veronica had any replay as well. My favorite parts involved laughing AT Steve Burnside
I can't agree with 90% of the video I like cv though not my favorite re title there are so many unique aspects of the game that I loved it definitely fits in my top 3

The other reason this game failed is that Resident Evil fans have been BRAINWASHED to believe that Resident Evil cannot have anything more than horror. I mostly agree, but with your third point in regards to Claire crying; that's just Claire. At least how I interpreted it, Claire has a big heart and is the more empathetic member of ye olde RE Classic Four (Jill/Chris/Leon/Claire); ie, this scene spoke to me because for Claire, *even steve* is worth grieving over. Now THAT is empathy.
People don't like it when I say this, but Code Veronica has the worst level design in the series. For example, when I advanced to the training facility, why do I gotta hitchhike all the way to the back to the prison area and go through the trouble of getting two key items? Capcom should have just made a way for you to do all those things in the first place or made a faster way to get back down to the prison.
I used to like this game, I thought the cinematics and so on were great. But now I can barely play it. It is so slow. The level design and the game itself design is pretty horrendous. I played this game at least 7 times or more and I still lost where I am and where I should go. And for that time new next gen is pretty bare bones. Except for graphics, it doesn't offer much. RE3 brought more interesting elements to the table. That would not be a problem if a story would be more interesting or stylistically interesting, but it isn't.
Uh-oh this one is gonna get bombarded by CV hardcore fans. 😅 Yeah CV is a mixed bag for me as well, there's part I like and there's part I dislike. No where near the original 3 as far as the best imo, but I can understand people liking this game for nostalgia purposes. The good: Claire and Chris together finally in a RE game, Wesker return, Nosferatu & Bandersnatcher are cool creatures, the Ashford twins are bizarrely cool, soundtrack is great per usual RE. The bad: Shit tyrant, terrible boss fight, game never warns you about what item you should/should not picked for either Claire/Chris (1st blind playthrough, you are bound to get softlock), the 3d background doesn't age well as much as pre-rendered background, terribly program final boss, Steve Burnside is a douche glad he dies. No decapitation when pointing the shotgun upward? backtracking in this game is not as good as the original 3. Reused sounds from RE2 (a better game btw) I'm gonna be bombarded by CV fans as well, go ahead. It's my opinion, still we all still Resident Evil fans. 6/10
it's your opinion, nobody (hopefully) will bombard you. but still CV is the best RE ;) about the softlock: just have 3-4 safe stats and you're good. the game not warning you is also completely fine. it's rated R, so i think it shouldn't be easy as well. a remake would be fantastic to fix all those little things
@Danskyl7 You've said everything i think and feel about CV (except i'd give it a 7 out of 10 as i love most of the environments in it, even tho i do prefer the pre-rendered backgrounds of the OG's as well as RE1 Remake and RE 0). I like CV, but its certainly got its major issues... However saying that, i'd much prefer playing CV over any Resident Evil beyond 4, ESPECIALLY 7 & Village 🤮. I personally don't rate the remakes much either, but thats just my personal preference in gaming.
It's your opinion and there's nothing wrong with it. It's like arguing over what's the best beer. People are always gonna disagree and that's also why the world mostly works cuz we have different tastes and do different jobs.
I hate, hate, HATE this game! I played it recently after playing the first three remakes, so the tank controls pissed me off! I hated the constant backtracking and the difficulty spike with the Tyrant on the plane made me rage quit! I gave up and watched the story on TH-cam!!!😡😡😡 Also, the voice acting was hot garbage!
VO in these games until recently have always been campy but I can see that esspecially with Steve. I also agree with the boss fight spike on the plane. Finally got to playing CV after all these years and Idk what RE fans have been smoking to think that this was ever meant to be "RE3", RE3 absolutely crushes CV in everything, story, gameplay&atmosphere. I still haven't finished playing CV but god i already hate how stingy CV is with its item boxes, RE1-3 never were this much annoying with item boxes and Steve, worst character ever.
it is by far better than 3. storywise as well as from the settings and the characters. steve is annoying, but except for jill everyone in RE3 is worse.
I don’t mind the tank controls I grew up playing MGS, Resident Evil. REmake is a masterpiece, I rename RE2 giving nightmares as a kid. Re2make was extraordinary, re3make garbage, re4make also extraordinary. RE7&8 I enjoyed and appreciated, think RE was due for a new story, fresh characters. RE7 lacked in enemy types but it immersed me and I enjoyed. CV became so long and so tedious after awhile, just running around doing chores for hours and hours. Literally felt like doing chores. REmake though was brilliant and I didn’t feel that way but CV was just so dull and tedious at times. Needed to look at a guide a few times bc I got stuck. Some things just weren’t all that intuitive and didn’t know what to do. I liked the story but my god it was just so tedious at times.
I'm pretty sure they said Chris used to be a pilot in the Air Force before he became a STARS member. It didn't distinguish between helicopter or plane, but it did say in the comics or books, I can't remember, that he was the alternate pilot for alpha team. That could explain why he could fly the harrier jet.
Code Veronica sucks and that's why I want a remake of it. I want a version of this story that's also enjoyable to play. Copy/paste RE3makes gameplay in less terrible versions of CV levels
No, Code Veronica does not suck.. 5 and 6, those suck, dreadful games that sully the name of Resident Evil... Yes, the tank controls of CV are bad, but this is why we need a remake to improve the gameplay.. The tank controls are really the only thing wrong with Code Veronica, whereas pretty much everything is wrong with 5 and 6..
I do think this game needs a remake and while I know there is a ton of love for this game, it just didn’t hit for me at all. Between the level design, enemy design and certain boss encounter spaces, it just felt like a slog to me. Maybe I’m dumb but there were a lot of places where I didn’t know how to progress, ran all around the map eventually needed a guide. Happened maybe 3 or 4 times. I also thought it was unnecessarily tedious. So much running around, backtracking, it was overkill. Some points just wasn’t fun but felt like a chore. Did enjoy it but was a relief it was finally over
Basically this, I always forget how to start that conveyor belt, start backtracking all over the Antarctica facility and getting killed by constantly respawning moths. All RE games have a lot of backtracking, but when you finish one area that's it, in CV you're constantly returning to areas you've thought you've finished. Like imagine original RE2, and you find item in sewers, and you have to return to the streets from the beginning of the game to use it lol
Well, the big cargo plane was in autopilot and claire and steve didn't have to do anything at all. As for Chris, he was an airforce pilot before his days in STARS.
I'm currently doing another playthrough of this game after quite some time. I've changed my mind about this game, I like it a lot now, but that doesn't mean that this game ain't broken for most of the time, lol. I always loved Claire, and this being a direct sequel to RE2 (my favorite) were things that automatically draw me to this game. Music is great, atmosphere can be amazing too, I also loved seeing Claire shooting AK lol… Also, Claire reuniting with Chris was awesome. The transition to from pre-rendered backgrounds to fully 3d environment like the one seen in Dino Crisis was smooth. But... Gameplay is a mixed bag though. Like you've said, backtracking is extreme, all classic RE games have a lot of backtracking, but like I've said in one of previous comments, imagine being in sewers or factory in og RE2, only to find an item you need to use in the streets level from the beginning of the game, imagine doing that several times, that's first half of CV basically. Also, the placement of some items is rather bizarre. Fore example, you've progressed to villa from a military facility, only to return all the way to prison and find a random secret basement, with a random knight puzzle, only to find a piano part. Piano from that villa that doesn't have to do anything with that basement. That's just one of the baffling item placements. There was a gameplay mechanic of respawning zombies introduced in RE3 if I remember correctly, but they respawned in open streets, which makes sense, since it's an open city and the whole of its population got infected, so respawning zombies would represent circulating zombie hordes. However, this mechanic returns in CV, but thing is, CV is set mostly in closed facilities, I got so annoyed when I cleared a whole room with conveyor belt out of zombies, and spent a lot of precious ammo, only from them to later respawn. Also, that moth corridor next to that room is pure BS. I hate that thing so much. Also, the game constantly spawns you really near to enemies, both regular ones and bosses. For example, that room next to one with conveyor belt, one where you find AK-47 in locker, moment you enter that room, two zombies are almost next to you. Or earlier on, that corridor before you enter mansion yard, one where you fight Tyrant for the first time, you'll need to pass through it a couple of times, but with stairs in CV not working like in RE3 for some reason, you end up served on a platter to stretchy monsters when they spawn there eventually. Speaking of stretchy monsters, they're such pain, I'll always hate that dark room where you enter, and you don't know that one of them is there, you don't even hear it, and he just slaps you from across the room, from camera blindspot. This reminded me of that moment when you exit that door with Chris into that yard where giant worm appeared in Claire gameplay, and the moment you open that door, two Hunters are spawned a couple of meters from you, lunging in your direction, you have a split second to react. First time I've played this game, I thought how it was some kind of cutscene because how weird it looked. Usually enemies in RE games have some patrolling pattern, and reaction animation, before they lock in onto the player. Speaking about bosses, you've summed it up perfectly. Story in CV is something I still don't know what it's all about, I could recap first three games stories in one sentence each, same couldn't be said for CV. I respect them for trying to enrich lore with so much info about Umbrella origins, but everything feels extra cheesy and convoluted, also, I was really sad when Steve died at the end of the game, I was really hoping he'd die earlier. I could never feel for him because he never felt like a real human. Especially since Alyson Court did a lot better part portraying Claire here than in RE2, she (almost) felt like a real person, it was the best performance alongside RE3 Jill at that point in RE vo history. Steve was an unhinged, screechy, creep. But still, I really love this game, I just pointed out some glaring negatives compared to the rest of classic RE games. This is still a fun game to play, and to me is inseparable from og trilogy, if I play one of them I usually have to finish all four. It's also a lot more smooth gaming experience on second playthrough. One of its main problems is that it's not really casual, friendly. You can't recommend it to everyone. Code Veronica is Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne of Resident Evil series.

10:43 you can literally end this boss fight in 3 shots from a sniper rifle to his heart. I also hated this game on a first playtrough, BUT after that i replayed it again and again knowing all begginers traps and it was actually much better. I even managed to get an A rank. This game needs to be replayed to enjoy it.
You and I share the same opinion of Resident Evil, that they should be slow and contemplative, and it's the reason why I don't enjoy RE3 at all also (but for some reason I really enjoyed both RE4 and RE5). What are your favorite RE games?
i haven't played this myself in a long time. the opening cutscene and the main antagonists were the only thing i remembered. i even forgot about steve. i wish capcom had brought the classics (Re1,2,3,Veronica) to steam so people could easily play them. not everyone wants to get things by alternative means. having an official option is nice. people just can't be dumb and expect more like they did with the metal gear solid collection. that was 100% about preserving games....not updating or improving them. just making them available and playable.
While most of the game was actually decent, the boss fights were the main problem with the overall experience (I couldn`t beat the last one because I forgot to stash Claires stronger weapons in the locker prior to Chris`s final segment. Wish I`d had the opportunity to get them beforehand). It honestly feels like the developers got carried away with the difficulty.
I literally bought this game 4 hours ago on my PS4, finished installing like 20 minutes ago. There is no way I will complete this filth. I'm meeting a guy named Steve as I type this, the controls are fucking abysmal. I wasted like $8 on this garbage. I only bought it because I've never played an RE game before and because it's on sale until February.
this game was meant to be RE3, i even had the magazine showing exclusive early screenshots, then Nemesis, and the whole fiscal year happened, and this got relegated to a side game... It''s crazy as hell,thisis when RE was still in its infancy, right after RE2...So at the time, it couldnt get any better of you had a dreamcast...or yes, it could if you had a ps2, because you'd get an expanded version of it which added Wesker's return... I got so paranoid, cause i didnt know a thing about it, so when i thought i was just replaying a game i already knew, Wesker showed up, alive, with superpowers,i though i went crzy for a goodwhile... How?! soon i found out they were different versions... But yeah CVX has aged so badly... Yet way too important events take place during that game... The one thing im afraid of tho, if they ever remake it, is if they treat itlikeRE3, andjust start slicing stuff, and not adding anything in its place... Then we'd have to look at this old game all teary eyed and think... "it really wasnt that bad" And it really isnt, but yeah... It's an impossible sell to a younger player, the game is EXTRA dated, dreamcast levels of dated. But had great ideas and characters, i dare them recreate Alfred XD.
If they don’t recreate Alfred that would be a massive miss. And I’m goimy back through all the old ones, it’s fair to say that they would jive with a younger audience, but I’m 32, and was playing these when they came out. I try not to judge these older ones harshly on fidelity as opposed to style, as style transcendes graphics lol. I just didn’t get on with CV, but there is a ton of remake potentially to make this game pop and my gut says it’s next on the remake juncate.
Unpopular opinion here. Biohazard was always an action series and was never really scary. The original Biohazard 3 is the best one of the trilogy and is better than Code Veronica X with its gameplay and different locations.
that's not an opinion, that's wrong. OG RE actually was a scary series until RE4 turned it into an easy action horde shooter. the rest is really an opinion tho most like CV way more than 3
@@bepohal Biohazard 2 leaned a bit into action compared to 1 while 3 embraced it. I said a bit. It's not full on action, but has some more action than the first one.
@@AlphaZeroX96 that's true. 3 slightly lifted the action bar about 10-15% but still was a survival horror with action elements. RE4 raised that bar about 300% and completely changed the genre
huge old school Res fan all the way back since 1996, I have NEVER played Code:Veronica. It completely lost the charm of the series an became way too obscure, sadly this would continue through the series. I only consider 1-3 canon and parts of 0. 4 and 5 are fun but the story of Resident Evil ends with 3 imo.
And honestly, that is a solid break point, concluding with the raccoon city arc. I think 5 (video coming Monday) to continue a BIT but I agree with the the 0 and 4 being more side tangents (especially 4) thank you so muc. For watching and your comment. Means a ton :)
Great video dude! I can’t really comment on Code Veronica cause I actually never finished the game past getting to the icecaps (which I agree was a wack setting) due to part 2 of the disc being broken on the PS2. Maybe I should play it through again to see if I share your opinions about this one.
I feel more than anything, that Code Veronica is only loved by many people especially for its story, because if it were for its game design it would make no sense unless you love games with extreme backtraking, literally resident evil 2 and 3 did things much better in the gameplay section than CV, and this being a new game compared to those two, it is extremely disappointing that it has all those problems...
kids like you are the minority in thinking that about RE CV, for a good reason. this very game is easily top 3 as a RE game itself. it isn't hard nor unfair and has the bset story and great settings. the ashford story was incredible and the backtracking is a part of the franchise. credit for your effort and the quality the vid has, but your opinion is the oppisite from the one of the vast majority, especially from OG/day one fans

Speak for yourself, CVX is well known for being the Resident Evil game of which the RE community and fanbase have divisive opinion with one another. This include older fans such as myself who plays the original trilogy, I don't find CVX that impressive. - On one side you gonna have RE fanbase like yourself & many others who really REALLY liked CVX, which is totally fine. - And the others side, another RE fanbase who disliked it and hated it.

I love the story and Alexia is great character to me . About the boss fights ,i am not a gamer i just love watching them and the lore . I kinda like that the places are small and cramped it makes sense ,why would anyone who fights you would want to give you chance in winning?

We're not talking about why someone would give chances to someone, but about game design. It's a bad game design if you cannot evade an enemy or beat it only by having a ton of healing items. It's also a bad game design if game constantly spawns you next to both regular enemies or bosses.
In the PS1 Resident Evil games, if you shoot a zombie until it falls, bullets hit the zombie behind it. In this shitty game, bullets just disappear when this happens, wasting ammo. On the PS1, pressing L1 switches to the nearest enemy. After killing one, it auto-aims to the next closest. In this crap, the auto-aim sometimes targets the farthest enemy, leading to being caught by closer enemies due to bad mechanics. How did they manage to make the Dreamcast and PS2 versions have worse mechanics than the PS1 classics? It's beyond comprehension.
Just finished this game for the first time. I love and miss the fixed camera era of RE. However this game was a slog. I was so thankful it finally came to an end. Doubt I’ll ever go back and replay it. CV made me think RE 0 is a masterpiece in comparison.
The original RE 1-2 has B movie vibes, while RE 3 and CV went full on Michael Bay with the action pieces. Some of the locations make no sense unless George Trevor was paid to built complex mansions in the Antarctic. The prison and lab build a sense of dread, built the military and Spencer mansion clone areas be weird, random, and jarring. The Steve and Claire relationship feels forced and creepy. Steve angsty edgy dumbass extend the plot by an unnecessary amount of hours . The character switch mid game along with inventory locking be hard for first time players. Dark Side Chronicle reinterpretation of events is interesting that it be welcomed in the remake of CV. If CV get remade, this be the 2nd time since the Dreamcast version was lacking that a PS2 version was the upgraded experience.
I think the people are who playing this retrospectively will not appreciate it. You had to have plaid it when it came out . The same for Zero thst came out on the GameCube … this is a good game and better than 3
The actual programming of the game sucks. There are a lot of details in the game that should have been avoided like in the Arctic Transport Station with the moths that keep resurrecting at the only typewriter location and in the basement area where the player has to travel through numerous times. The enemies require much more bullets to destroy than in other RE games it seems. All in all the game was poorly thought out. Dare I mention the fire extinguisher.
I'm glad somebody had the nerve to say it. You might be voicing a minority opinion but your thoughts reflect my take. CV changed the trajectory of the Resident Evil franchise. I think it was a product of the times but it took until RE6 for Capcom to realize they'd veered way off track.
Only it isn't a minority opinion. RE fanbase is literally split apart when it comes to voicing opinion on CVX. There's RE fans who really love it CVX, and the rest don't.

Honestly, I wish the franchise would have continued in this direction, as opposed to wannabe vampires and lycans, moving dolls, telekinesis and other crap like that. In my personal opinion, Ethan’s storyline along with Ethan himself is the worst thing that could have ever happened to the RE franchise. It completely baffles me when I hear games like CVX and Zero being called out, when games like 7 and 8 exist in the RE universe. Good work on the video though.

There's nothing baffling about RE7 or 8 to be quite frank, otherwise those games still prove to be more successful than CVX & Zero combined. Zero was good as in Resident Evil at it's purest, but even that was redundant to the same old x2 & ultimately was killed off by the terrible "No storage box" gameplay, completedly retcon Rebecca Chambers character arc (literally makes zero sense of her being a badass in RE0, then a damsel in distress in RE1, like.. wtf?). RE7 was the first step back to survival horror (It ain't perfect 100% Resident Evil of the old classic I agree), but it plays a huge role in influencing what RE2MAKE as far as atmosphere & gameplay, future releases. RE8? Pretty much elseworld RE4. It was fun, stupid at times, had cool concepts, cool characters, felt apart during the later acts. Otherwise, a RE game, doesn't really hurt the franchise in the slightest.

You have fun with those, I’ll stick to the roots of the franchise. If numbers, ratings and success is your best argument here, you’ve said nothing that changes my point of view. It’s funny, mentioning character flaws about Rebecca, when Ethan has most dull character development in the entire franchise.
@@SD_Stef Nothing ruined RE more than Heisenberg’s telekinesis. That magical shit has no place in the plot of RE, it just goes against everything the franchise set out to be. Magical elements and levitation have never existed in the plot. While I can agree that CVX went a little cheesy at times, it still didn’t break any major rules cemented in the RE lore.
This game was fine, but it dragged on too long. On top of your points: The second half was bad. The fact that inventory will be shared between Claire and Chris is not well telegraphed (you know you'll play as him, but not that you'll share inventory), causing you to run around with basic equipment with Chris, since you probably had your best guns with Claire due to the Alexander fight. You may even be unable to take the Magnum if you had extinguisher with her. And that Alexia fight. It is probably one of the worst bosses in history (trash games excluded). It is just abuse of ammo, and health packs, nothing creative. Overall a 7.5 game.

@@bepohal Ah yes, the typical defense whenever a difficult game is criticized. None of the criticisms are answered, and it is an ad hominem attack of you suck. It is not about the difficulty, it is about how it is implemented, is it forced or does it make sense, are the challenges engaging, or artificial? There are great games that are more difficult than Veronica, and terrible games that are easier. Veronica was difficult, which I actually enjoyed at most parts, but when the difficulty arose due to a dumb reason like not telegraphing you'll share inventory space, or when there is a boss fight where skill doesn't matter (you can't dodge, battle smart etc.), but only abuse of supplies are required, then it falls into terrible design territory.
@@thenomad4123 CV never has been difficult, at all. besides that CV had the best story, best settings, awesome characters (except for steve), best soundtrack and a fantastic atmosphere as well as the best graphics at that time. after the character swap you get enough ammo/herbs to beat the game without any trouble. why should it be telegraphed? people are too lazy nowadays and want the games to hold their hands with easy difficulty, unlimited ammo & lives, save whenever you want and linear from room A to B. CV did a perfect job of executing the OG formula too

So asking the game to tell two characters will have the same equipment (basically explaining mechanics) is the equivalent of wanting unlimited ammo and holding hands? LMAO! And CV is generally regarded as one of the most difficult RE games. That of course doesn't mean it definitely is, difficulty has some subjectivity, but it is by no means a unique opinion. You don't need to defend the game to me. I already said that I liked it. I agree about the soundtrack, atmosphere, that Steve sucks lol, and that the game does the best it can to give enough equipment after the character swap. I will disagree that it is that useful, as you likely have the weapons themselves with Claire in the boss fight, and I have heard of people having to restart just due to that alone (and it is FAR into the game), though imo it is still beatable and I beat it, but it was needlessly difficult with the limited guns. I also don't agree it has a good story (okay but nothing special), or it has good graphics. I think it looks worse than its predecessors due to implementing 3D graphics. But to each to their own of course.
Man the graphics in CV are ugly. I know the game is supposed to be dark and dreary, but it looks like the developers dragged this game's graphics 10 miles through mud. The PS1 games looked way more colorful and stylish. So much senseless backtracking. CV was so painful to playthrough I try to forget it.
This was due to the fully rendered backgrounds, while the PS1 had pre rendered art work for the set dressing of every room. I actually fully agree with you here. It’s the same technique that was used in the PS1 final fantasy games, and in the jump to 10 with a fully rendered space, but they handled it much better than in CV
Great video, but it's all about MANAGING EXPECTATIONS! I remember *hating* this game. I'm currently replaying most of the series a-la marathon (not you, RE6), and I *dreaded* getting to this one. But once I got there, I weirdly had a lot of fun. I'm 95 % sure it's because my bar was so low going in. It's flawed for sure, but it's not *that bad* .... and I would rather get frustrated at BS boss fights (Tyrant On A Plan!!!) and still feel an emotion that reminds me I'm alive; as opposed to feeling dead inside from technically competent, but extremely repetitive and dull gameplay... *cough RE 4 cough* Now whose gonna get the hate comments and downvotes? Not me, because this video is like, half a year old.
I'm probably very biased because although I watched friends playing the previous Resident Evil games a bit I was first more of a Silent Hill fan. I thought RE wasn't scary enough. But I got Code Veronica as my first RE game and because it came with the DMC demo. But I absolutely fell in love with the game and the series after that. Back then it got very good reviews and I don't remember anyone disliking it, but looking back it was a transitional entry. The first fully 3D one but still tank controls. But I'm playing it again on Dreamcast after just beating the original RE2 and I still love it. Sure Steve is a bit goofy but I love that he is because you're a bit annoyed by him but you end up really caring. And it was the first RE game that really cared about character development and a close relationship that builds. And to me Ashford is still the most interesting villain. CV is my favourite RE story along with RE2. For me story wise they are the best games in the series. RE4 Remake is my favourite gameplay and has great characters and a good story. But CV and RE2 have stories that move me. And CV is a bit of a comedy at times as well. My least favourite is RE6 but I still like it. There isn't actually an entry that I dislike. RE0 has frustrating item management issues, RE5 is fun, especially in co op but it's to run and gun action and isn't scary at all except the added Jill chapter which to me was the best part of RE5. But like I said CV was where it all started for me and that just leaves such a lasting impression. It's like the first song of a band you love that made you love them. And comparing a cover and the original song, it's often the version you hear first that you prefer. Not always but you get attached to the first love. Having said that, if Capcom do a remake of Code Veronica I don't think it will necessarily matter if you liked the original or not because it will be remade from the ground up in such a way that I think most people will love it even if they didn't like the original. The combat will be more like RE4 Remake I'm sure. The story will be basically similar but with a more serious and darker tone. It'll be reworked a lot. But the setting and the general story has so much potential regardless. The Remake can be just as good as RE2 Remake I think. I actually really trust Capcom atm. They know what they're doing. I always thought that Code Veronica was the real RE3, cuz RE3 felt like a side story and very short. Great but it was more like 2.5 ... I remember people back in the day preferring CV over RE3, I remember people being more disappointed with RE3. RE0 is really frustrating to actually play, but I think the characters and story were interesting so even that as a Remake could be actually great. And when they do RE5 I hope they make it darker and improve the story, I know the gameplay will be fun and it won't have quick time events. But I'm much more worried about the direction RE5 Remake will take us cuz that's when RE became so action that the series almost died a death. RE7 saved the series. Village I think was one of the very best in the series and it was the newest one. But there isn't a game in the series I don't like. Not even RE6. But CV is top 3 for me with RE2 and RE4, Village following closely after. Or maybe they're all equals in my book. But story it's RE2 and CV at the top for me. But absolutely nothing against your opinion, we all have different tastes and I think that's a good thing. And conversations are more interesting when we disagree and we can accept that we do. But I enjoyed the video! I also just watched a rant video where someone hates the RE2 Remake but loves the original. I think both the remake and original are masterpieces but it was still a fun video and fun to hear why someone feels that way. And the arguments usually make perfect sense and well argued. Code: Veronica is a solid RE game. Easily Top 5 for me. I don't know why some fans complain about tank controls and fixed cameras and cheesy dialogue and backtracking as if we didn't get those since RE1, lol. The Ashford twins were a nice addition and a different kind of villain, I love how they fall into the lore. They are kind of theatrical. I do admit Steve is whiny but he's not a bad character, just okay. Does RECV have flaws? Yes, many, as most RE titles do. If it gets remade they need to fix Steve's voice acting and make him closer to Claire's age. Like Ashley, they need to make him more grounded so people can root for him and it can cause some sort of impact when his death comes. The shared inventory needs to go and the final boss needs to be harder. I hope we get a great Remake, it has potential.

Depends on how much gets cut or changed. Nemesis remake isn’t well regarded for that reason and I get why and honestly kinda hurts me too. But something like 1 or 4 which are truer to the originals, I mean I think it could be good. There is a lot to flesh out there as well
all classic RE aged poorly, so it isn't exclusive to Code Veronica, it is by far the best main line classic game of franchise, it has it flaws, like the excessive and pointless backtracking, playing as Chris is straight up boring due to this, the game is still absolutly fantastic in all the rest, more refined and smooth gameplay, the lore is the best by far of all first 4 games, the ost as well, absolutly terrific, maybe the best as well to this day, the puzzles are very, very well done, and not that much hard if you pay attention, even the painting room is easy if you know how to access the files storage and of course, have a compatible language to your knowledge, some politics indeed aged like the finest milk, but it isn't necessarily a flaw by itself, even more Alfred was never meant to be a transgender, but a completaly disturbed guy, obssesed with his sister to the point to develop 2 personalities to ''have her'' by his side.

I played through it 2 weeks ago and beat it. It was the hardest out of the classic era of RE but it also was kinda boring for me. I do think it is over hated but it is not the worst. Code Veronica doesn't suck, on the contrary it is the last good RE game. RE1 to 3 and Code Veronica are to me the masterpieces. After that everything is crap, full of fantasy and nonsense, silly scripts and boring storylines, specially 4, 5 and 6 are trash.

I mostly agree, but with your third point in regards to Claire crying; that's just Claire. At least how I interpreted it, Claire has a big heart and is the more empathetic member of ye olde RE Classic Four (Jill/Chris/Leon/Claire); ie, this scene spoke to me because for Claire, *even steve* is worth grieving over. Now THAT is empathy.
My only memory of this game is my dad playing it at night after putting me to bed and always being pissed come morning 😅

People don't like it when I say this, but Code Veronica has the worst level design in the series. For example, when I advanced to the training facility, why do I gotta hitchhike all the way to the back to the prison area and go through the trouble of getting two key items? Capcom should have just made a way for you to do all those things in the first place or made a faster way to get back down to the prison.

I used to like this game, I thought the cinematics and so on were great. But now I can barely play it. It is so slow. The level design and the game itself design is pretty horrendous. I played this game at least 7 times or more and I still lost where I am and where I should go. And for that time new next gen is pretty bare bones. Except for graphics, it doesn't offer much. RE3 brought more interesting elements to the table. That would not be a problem if a story would be more interesting or stylistically interesting, but it isn't.

Yeah CV is a mixed bag for me as well, there's part I like and there's part I dislike. No where near the original 3 as far as the best imo, but I can understand people liking this game for nostalgia purposes.
The good: Claire and Chris together finally in a RE game, Wesker return, Nosferatu & Bandersnatcher are cool creatures, the Ashford twins are bizarrely cool, soundtrack is great per usual RE.
The bad: Shit tyrant, terrible boss fight, game never warns you about what item you should/should not picked for either Claire/Chris (1st blind playthrough, you are bound to get softlock), the 3d background doesn't age well as much as pre-rendered background, terribly program final boss, Steve Burnside is a douche glad he dies. No decapitation when pointing the shotgun upward? backtracking in this game is not as good as the original 3. Reused sounds from RE2 (a better game btw)
I'm gonna be bombarded by CV fans as well, go ahead. It's my opinion, still we all still Resident Evil fans.

about the softlock: just have 3-4 safe stats and you're good. the game not warning you is also completely fine. it's rated R, so i think it shouldn't be easy as well.

@Danskyl7 You've said everything i think and feel about CV (except i'd give it a 7 out of 10 as i love most of the environments in it, even tho i do prefer the pre-rendered backgrounds of the OG's as well as RE1 Remake and RE 0). I like CV, but its certainly got its major issues... However saying that, i'd much prefer playing CV over any Resident Evil beyond 4, ESPECIALLY 7 & Village 🤮. I personally don't rate the remakes much either, but thats just my personal preference in gaming.

I hate, hate, HATE this game! I played it recently after playing the first three remakes, so the tank controls pissed me off! I hated the constant backtracking and the difficulty spike with the Tyrant on the plane made me rage quit! I gave up and watched the story on TH-cam!!!😡😡😡

VO in these games until recently have always been campy but I can see that esspecially with Steve. I also agree with the boss fight spike on the plane. Finally got to playing CV after all these years and Idk what RE fans have been smoking to think that this was ever meant to be "RE3", RE3 absolutely crushes CV in everything, story, gameplay&atmosphere. I still haven't finished playing CV but god i already hate how stingy CV is with its item boxes, RE1-3 never were this much annoying with item boxes and Steve, worst character ever.

I don’t mind the tank controls I grew up playing MGS, Resident Evil. REmake is a masterpiece, I rename RE2 giving nightmares as a kid. Re2make was extraordinary, re3make garbage, re4make also extraordinary. RE7&8 I enjoyed and appreciated, think RE was due for a new story, fresh characters. RE7 lacked in enemy types but it immersed me and I enjoyed. CV became so long and so tedious after awhile, just running around doing chores for hours and hours. Literally felt like doing chores. REmake though was brilliant and I didn’t feel that way but CV was just so dull and tedious at times. Needed to look at a guide a few times bc I got stuck. Some things just weren’t all that intuitive and didn’t know what to do. I liked the story but my god it was just so tedious at times.
I'm pretty sure they said Chris used to be a pilot in the Air Force before he became a STARS member. It didn't distinguish between helicopter or plane, but it did say in the comics or books, I can't remember, that he was the alternate pilot for alpha team. That could explain why he could fly the harrier jet.

Code Veronica sucks and that's why I want a remake of it. I want a version of this story that's also enjoyable to play. Copy/paste RE3makes gameplay in less terrible versions of CV levels

No, Code Veronica does not suck.. 5 and 6, those suck, dreadful games that sully the name of Resident Evil... Yes, the tank controls of CV are bad, but this is why we need a remake to improve the gameplay.. The tank controls are really the only thing wrong with Code Veronica, whereas pretty much everything is wrong with 5 and 6..
I do think this game needs a remake and while I know there is a ton of love for this game, it just didn’t hit for me at all. Between the level design, enemy design and certain boss encounter spaces, it just felt like a slog to me. Maybe I’m dumb but there were a lot of places where I didn’t know how to progress, ran all around the map eventually needed a guide. Happened maybe 3 or 4 times. I also thought it was unnecessarily tedious. So much running around, backtracking, it was overkill. Some points just wasn’t fun but felt like a chore. Did enjoy it but was a relief it was finally over
Basically this, I always forget how to start that conveyor belt, start backtracking all over the Antarctica facility and getting killed by constantly respawning moths. All RE games have a lot of backtracking, but when you finish one area that's it, in CV you're constantly returning to areas you've thought you've finished. Like imagine original RE2, and you find item in sewers, and you have to return to the streets from the beginning of the game to use it lol
Both of these are super true, and called out as well. Backtracking is always apart of the series but man it felt like a lot here.
Well, the big cargo plane was in autopilot and claire and steve didn't have to do anything at all. As for Chris, he was an airforce pilot before his days in STARS.
I'm currently doing another playthrough of this game after quite some time.
I've changed my mind about this game, I like it a lot now, but that doesn't mean that this game ain't broken for most of the time, lol.
I always loved Claire, and this being a direct sequel to RE2 (my favorite) were things that automatically draw me to this game.
Music is great, atmosphere can be amazing too, I also loved seeing Claire shooting AK lol… Also, Claire reuniting with Chris was awesome.
The transition to from pre-rendered backgrounds to fully 3d environment like the one seen in Dino Crisis was smooth.
But... Gameplay is a mixed bag though.
Like you've said, backtracking is extreme, all classic RE games have a lot of backtracking, but like I've said in one of previous comments, imagine being in sewers or factory in og RE2, only to find an item you need to use in the streets level from the beginning of the game, imagine doing that several times, that's first half of CV basically.
Also, the placement of some items is rather bizarre. Fore example, you've progressed to villa from a military facility, only to return all the way to prison and find a random secret basement, with a random knight puzzle, only to find a piano part.
Piano from that villa that doesn't have to do anything with that basement.
That's just one of the baffling item placements.
There was a gameplay mechanic of respawning zombies introduced in RE3 if I remember correctly, but they respawned in open streets,
which makes sense, since it's an open city and the whole of its population got infected, so respawning zombies would represent circulating zombie hordes.
However, this mechanic returns in CV, but thing is, CV is set mostly in closed facilities, I got so annoyed when I cleared a whole room with conveyor belt out of zombies, and spent a lot of precious ammo, only from them to later respawn. Also, that moth corridor next to that room is pure BS. I hate that thing so much.
Also, the game constantly spawns you really near to enemies, both regular ones and bosses.
For example, that room next to one with conveyor belt, one where you find AK-47 in locker, moment you enter that room, two zombies are almost next to you. Or earlier on, that corridor before you enter mansion yard, one where you fight Tyrant for the first time,
you'll need to pass through it a couple of times, but with stairs in CV not working like in RE3 for some reason,
you end up served on a platter to stretchy monsters when they spawn there eventually.
Speaking of stretchy monsters, they're such pain, I'll always hate that dark room where you enter, and you don't know that one of them is there, you don't even hear it, and he just slaps you from across the room, from camera blindspot.
This reminded me of that moment when you exit that door with Chris into that yard where giant worm appeared in Claire gameplay,
and the moment you open that door, two Hunters are spawned a couple of meters from you, lunging in your direction, you have a split second to react.
First time I've played this game, I thought how it was some kind of cutscene because how weird it looked.
Usually enemies in RE games have some patrolling pattern, and reaction animation, before they lock in onto the player.
Speaking about bosses, you've summed it up perfectly.
Story in CV is something I still don't know what it's all about, I could recap first three games stories in one sentence each,
same couldn't be said for CV. I respect them for trying to enrich lore with so much info about Umbrella origins,
but everything feels extra cheesy and convoluted, also, I was really sad when Steve died at the end of the game, I was really hoping he'd die earlier. I could never feel for him because he never felt like a real human. Especially since Alyson Court did a lot better part portraying Claire here than in RE2, she (almost) felt like a real person, it was the best performance alongside RE3 Jill at that point in RE vo history.
Steve was an unhinged, screechy, creep.
But still, I really love this game, I just pointed out some glaring negatives compared to the rest of classic RE games.
This is still a fun game to play, and to me is inseparable from og trilogy, if I play one of them I usually have to finish all four.
It's also a lot more smooth gaming experience on second playthrough.
One of its main problems is that it's not really casual, friendly. You can't recommend it to everyone.

i haven't played this myself in a long time. the opening cutscene and the main antagonists were the only thing i remembered. i even forgot about steve.
i wish capcom had brought the classics (Re1,2,3,Veronica) to steam so people could easily play them.
not everyone wants to get things by alternative means. having an official option is nice.
people just can't be dumb and expect more like they did with the metal gear solid collection.

1,2 and 3 all got added to Good Old Games recently. 1 & 2 are out now, 3 is coming soon. No CV though.
While most of the game was actually decent, the boss fights were the main problem with the overall experience (I couldn`t beat the last one because I forgot to stash Claires stronger weapons in the locker prior to Chris`s final segment. Wish I`d had the opportunity to get them beforehand). It honestly feels like the developers got carried away with the difficulty.

I literally bought this game 4 hours ago on my PS4, finished installing like 20 minutes ago. There is no way I will complete this filth. I'm meeting a guy named Steve as I type this, the controls are fucking abysmal. I wasted like $8 on this garbage.
I only bought it because I've never played an RE game before and because it's on sale until February.
These are hard to go back if you arnt used to how they play or havnt played old RE before. I would say try 4 or 7 or even the remakes

this game was meant to be RE3, i even had the magazine showing exclusive early screenshots, then Nemesis, and the whole fiscal year happened, and this got relegated to a side game...
It''s crazy as hell,thisis when RE was still in its infancy, right after RE2...So at the time, it couldnt get any better of you had a dreamcast...or yes, it could if you had a ps2, because you'd get an expanded version of it which added Wesker's return... I got so paranoid, cause i didnt know a thing about it, so when i thought i was just replaying a game i already knew, Wesker showed up, alive, with superpowers,i though i went crzy for a goodwhile... How?! soon i found out they were different versions...
But yeah CVX has aged so badly... Yet way too important events take place during that game... The one thing im afraid of tho, if they ever remake it, is if they treat itlikeRE3, andjust start slicing stuff, and not adding anything in its place... Then we'd have to look at this old game all teary eyed and think... "it really wasnt that bad"
And it really isnt, but yeah... It's an impossible sell to a younger player, the game is EXTRA dated, dreamcast levels of dated. But had great ideas and characters, i dare them recreate Alfred XD.
If they don’t recreate Alfred that would be a massive miss. And I’m goimy back through all the old ones, it’s fair to say that they would jive with a younger audience, but I’m 32, and was playing these when they came out. I try not to judge these older ones harshly on fidelity as opposed to style, as style transcendes graphics lol. I just didn’t get on with CV, but there is a ton of remake potentially to make this game pop and my gut says it’s next on the remake juncate.

Unpopular opinion here. Biohazard was always an action series and was never really scary. The original Biohazard 3 is the best one of the trilogy and is better than Code Veronica X with its gameplay and different locations.

RE4 raised that bar about 300% and completely changed the genre
huge old school Res fan all the way back since 1996, I have NEVER played Code:Veronica. It completely lost the charm of the series an became way too obscure, sadly this would continue through the series. I only consider 1-3 canon and parts of 0. 4 and 5 are fun but the story of Resident Evil ends with 3 imo.
And honestly, that is a solid break point, concluding with the raccoon city arc. I think 5 (video coming Monday) to continue a BIT but I agree with the the 0 and 4 being more side tangents (especially 4) thank you so muc. For watching and your comment. Means a ton :)

Great video dude! I can’t really comment on Code Veronica cause I actually never finished the game past getting to the icecaps (which I agree was a wack setting) due to part 2 of the disc being broken on the PS2. Maybe I should play it through again to see if I share your opinions about this one.

@MistakeKun RE4 and RE5 are both my favourites. I do love RE4 Remake, RE2 Remake, RE8 Village, RE7 Biohazard and RE1 Remake.
I feel more than anything, that Code Veronica is only loved by many people especially for its story, because if it were for its game design it would make no sense unless you love games with extreme backtraking, literally resident evil 2 and 3 did things much better in the gameplay section than CV, and this being a new game compared to those two, it is extremely disappointing that it has all those problems...
kids like you are the minority in thinking that about RE CV, for a good reason. this very game is easily top 3 as a RE game itself. it isn't hard nor unfair and has the bset story and great settings. the ashford story was incredible and the backtracking is a part of the franchise.

Speak for yourself, CVX is well known for being the Resident Evil game of which the RE community and fanbase have divisive opinion with one another. This include older fans such as myself who plays the original trilogy, I don't find CVX that impressive.
- On one side you gonna have RE fanbase like yourself & many others who really REALLY liked CVX, which is totally fine.
- And the others side, another RE fanbase who disliked it and hated it.

I love the story and Alexia is great character to me . About the boss fights ,i am not a gamer i just love watching them and the lore . I kinda like that the places are small and cramped it makes sense ,why would anyone who fights you would want to give you chance in winning?

We're not talking about why someone would give chances to someone, but about game design. It's a bad game design if you cannot evade an enemy or beat it only by having a ton of healing items. It's also a bad game design if game constantly spawns you next to both regular enemies or bosses.
In the PS1 Resident Evil games, if you shoot a zombie until it falls, bullets hit the zombie behind it. In this shitty game, bullets just disappear when this happens, wasting ammo.
On the PS1, pressing L1 switches to the nearest enemy. After killing one, it auto-aims to the next closest. In this crap, the auto-aim sometimes targets the farthest enemy, leading to being caught by closer enemies due to bad mechanics. How did they manage to make the Dreamcast and PS2 versions have worse mechanics than the PS1 classics? It's beyond comprehension.

Just finished this game for the first time. I love and miss the fixed camera era of RE. However this game was a slog. I was so thankful it finally came to an end. Doubt I’ll ever go back and replay it. CV made me think RE 0 is a masterpiece in comparison.

The original RE 1-2 has B movie vibes, while RE 3 and CV went full on Michael Bay with the action pieces.
Some of the locations make no sense unless George Trevor was paid to built complex mansions in the Antarctic. The prison and lab build a sense of dread, built the military and Spencer mansion clone areas be weird, random, and jarring.
The Steve and Claire relationship feels forced and creepy. Steve angsty edgy dumbass extend the plot by an unnecessary amount of hours .
The character switch mid game along with inventory locking be hard for first time players.
Dark Side Chronicle reinterpretation of events is interesting that it be welcomed in the remake of CV. If CV get remade, this be the 2nd time since the Dreamcast version was lacking that a PS2 version was the upgraded experience.

I think the people are who playing this retrospectively will not appreciate it. You had to have plaid it when it came out . The same for Zero thst came out on the GameCube … this is a good game and better than 3
The actual programming of the game sucks. There are a lot of details in the game that should have been avoided like in the Arctic Transport Station with the moths that keep resurrecting at the only typewriter location and in the basement area where the player has to travel through numerous times. The enemies require much more bullets to destroy than in other RE games it seems. All in all the game was poorly thought out. Dare I mention the fire extinguisher.
I'm glad somebody had the nerve to say it. You might be voicing a minority opinion but your thoughts reflect my take. CV changed the trajectory of the Resident Evil franchise. I think it was a product of the times but it took until RE6 for Capcom to realize they'd veered way off track.

Honestly, I wish the franchise would have continued in this direction, as opposed to wannabe vampires and lycans, moving dolls, telekinesis and other crap like that. In my personal opinion, Ethan’s storyline along with Ethan himself is the worst thing that could have ever happened to the RE franchise.
It completely baffles me when I hear games like CVX and Zero being called out, when games like 7 and 8 exist in the RE universe.

There's nothing baffling about RE7 or 8 to be quite frank, otherwise those games still prove to be more successful than CVX & Zero combined. Zero was good as in Resident Evil at it's purest, but even that was redundant to the same old x2 & ultimately was killed off by the terrible "No storage box" gameplay, completedly retcon Rebecca Chambers character arc (literally makes zero sense of her being a badass in RE0, then a damsel in distress in RE1, like.. wtf?).
RE7 was the first step back to survival horror (It ain't perfect 100% Resident Evil of the old classic I agree), but it plays a huge role in influencing what RE2MAKE as far as atmosphere & gameplay, future releases.
RE8? Pretty much elseworld RE4. It was fun, stupid at times, had cool concepts, cool characters, felt apart during the later acts. Otherwise, a RE game, doesn't really hurt the franchise in the slightest.

@@SD_Stef Nothing ruined RE more than Heisenberg’s telekinesis. That magical shit has no place in the plot of RE, it just goes against everything the franchise set out to be. Magical elements and levitation have never existed in the plot. While I can agree that CVX went a little cheesy at times, it still didn’t break any major rules cemented in the RE lore.
This game was fine, but it dragged on too long. On top of your points: The second half was bad. The fact that inventory will be shared between Claire and Chris is not well telegraphed (you know you'll play as him, but not that you'll share inventory), causing you to run around with basic equipment with Chris, since you probably had your best guns with Claire due to the Alexander fight. You may even be unable to take the Magnum if you had extinguisher with her. And that Alexia fight. It is probably one of the worst bosses in history (trash games excluded). It is just abuse of ammo, and health packs, nothing creative. Overall a 7.5 game.

@@bepohal Ah yes, the typical defense whenever a difficult game is criticized. None of the criticisms are answered, and it is an ad hominem attack of you suck. It is not about the difficulty, it is about how it is implemented, is it forced or does it make sense, are the challenges engaging, or artificial? There are great games that are more difficult than Veronica, and terrible games that are easier. Veronica was difficult, which I actually enjoyed at most parts, but when the difficulty arose due to a dumb reason like not telegraphing you'll share inventory space, or when there is a boss fight where skill doesn't matter (you can't dodge, battle smart etc.), but only abuse of supplies are required, then it falls into terrible design territory.

besides that CV had the best story, best settings, awesome characters (except for steve), best soundtrack and a fantastic atmosphere as well as the best graphics at that time.
after the character swap you get enough ammo/herbs to beat the game without any trouble. why should it be telegraphed? people are too lazy nowadays and want the games to hold their hands with easy difficulty, unlimited ammo & lives, save whenever you want and linear from room A to B.

So asking the game to tell two characters will have the same equipment (basically explaining mechanics) is the equivalent of wanting unlimited ammo and holding hands? LMAO! If I expected hand holding I wouldn't complete games like this and RE0, or keep playing old games at all. So you are already wrong in your assumptions. And CV is generally regarded as one of the most difficult RE games. That of course doesn't mean it definitely is, difficulty has some subjectivity, but it is by no means a unique opinion.
You don't need to defend the game to me. I already said that I liked it. I agree about the soundtrack, atmosphere, that Steve sucks lol, and that the game does the best it can to give enough equipment after the character swap. I will disagree that it is that useful, as you likely have the weapons themselves with Claire in the boss fight, and I have heard of people having to restart just due to that alone (and it is FAR into the game), though imo it is still beatable and I beat it, but it was needlessly difficult with the limited guns. I also don't agree it has a good story (okay but nothing special), or it has good graphics. I think it looks worse than its predecessors due to implementing 3D graphics. But to each to their own of course.

Man the graphics in CV are ugly. I know the game is supposed to be dark and dreary, but it looks like the developers dragged this game's graphics 10 miles through mud. The PS1 games looked way more colorful and stylish. So much senseless backtracking. CV was so painful to playthrough I try to forget it.
This was due to the fully rendered backgrounds, while the PS1 had pre rendered art work for the set dressing of every room. I actually fully agree with you here. It’s the same technique that was used in the PS1 final fantasy games, and in the jump to 10 with a fully rendered space, but they handled it much better than in CV

Great video, but it's all about MANAGING EXPECTATIONS! I remember *hating* this game. I'm currently replaying most of the series a-la marathon (not you, RE6), and I *dreaded* getting to this one.
But once I got there, I weirdly had a lot of fun. I'm 95 % sure it's because my bar was so low going in.
It's flawed for sure, but it's not *that bad* .... and I would rather get frustrated at BS boss fights (Tyrant On A Plan!!!) and still feel an emotion that reminds me I'm alive; as opposed to feeling dead inside from technically competent, but extremely repetitive and dull gameplay... *cough RE 4 cough*

I just tried beating this game. It absolutely sucks. 3 was better. I quit after the steve boss fight
I'm probably very biased because although I watched friends playing the previous Resident Evil games a bit I was first more of a Silent Hill fan. I thought RE wasn't scary enough. But I got Code Veronica as my first RE game and because it came with the DMC demo. But I absolutely fell in love with the game and the series after that. Back then it got very good reviews and I don't remember anyone disliking it, but looking back it was a transitional entry. The first fully 3D one but still tank controls. But I'm playing it again on Dreamcast after just beating the original RE2 and I still love it. Sure Steve is a bit goofy but I love that he is because you're a bit annoyed by him but you end up really caring. And it was the first RE game that really cared about character development and a close relationship that builds. And to me Ashford is still the most interesting villain. CV is my favourite RE story along with RE2. For me story wise they are the best games in the series. RE4 Remake is my favourite gameplay and has great characters and a good story. But CV and RE2 have stories that move me. And CV is a bit of a comedy at times as well. My least favourite is RE6 but I still like it. There isn't actually an entry that I dislike. RE0 has frustrating item management issues, RE5 is fun, especially in co op but it's to run and gun action and isn't scary at all except the added Jill chapter which to me was the best part of RE5. But like I said CV was where it all started for me and that just leaves such a lasting impression. It's like the first song of a band you love that made you love them. And comparing a cover and the original song, it's often the version you hear first that you prefer. Not always but you get attached to the first love. Having said that, if Capcom do a remake of Code Veronica I don't think it will necessarily matter if you liked the original or not because it will be remade from the ground up in such a way that I think most people will love it even if they didn't like the original. The combat will be more like RE4 Remake I'm sure. The story will be basically similar but with a more serious and darker tone. It'll be reworked a lot. But the setting and the general story has so much potential regardless. The Remake can be just as good as RE2 Remake I think. I actually really trust Capcom atm. They know what they're doing. I always thought that Code Veronica was the real RE3, cuz RE3 felt like a side story and very short. Great but it was more like 2.5 ... I remember people back in the day preferring CV over RE3, I remember people being more disappointed with RE3. RE0 is really frustrating to actually play, but I think the characters and story were interesting so even that as a Remake could be actually great. And when they do RE5 I hope they make it darker and improve the story, I know the gameplay will be fun and it won't have quick time events. But I'm much more worried about the direction RE5 Remake will take us cuz that's when RE became so action that the series almost died a death. RE7 saved the series. Village I think was one of the very best in the series and it was the newest one. But there isn't a game in the series I don't like. Not even RE6. But CV is top 3 for me with RE2 and RE4, Village following closely after. Or maybe they're all equals in my book. But story it's RE2 and CV at the top for me. But absolutely nothing against your opinion, we all have different tastes and I think that's a good thing. And conversations are more interesting when we disagree and we can accept that we do. But I enjoyed the video! I also just watched a rant video where someone hates the RE2 Remake but loves the original. I think both the remake and original are masterpieces but it was still a fun video and fun to hear why someone feels that way. And the arguments usually make perfect sense and well argued. But we just feel differently, for example some hate tank controls and some feel they make a horror game scarier. Neither are wrong. Peace 🙏 ps. so sorry for the crazy long message

However due to contracting issues the next game that had to come out (which was nemesis) needed to be a numbered entry
So what was meant to be the spin off became the sequel and what was meant to be the sequel became the spin off

Does RECV have flaws? Yes, many, as most RE titles do. If it gets remade they need to fix Steve's voice acting and make him closer to Claire's age. Like Ashley, they need to make him more grounded so people can root for him and it can cause some sort of impact when his death comes.
The shared inventory needs to go and the final boss needs to be harder.
I hope we get a great Remake, it has potential.

Depends on how much gets cut or changed. Nemesis remake isn’t well regarded for that reason and I get why and honestly kinda hurts me too. But something like 1 or 4 which are truer to the originals, I mean I think it could be good. There is a lot to flesh out there as well

all classic RE aged poorly, so it isn't exclusive to Code Veronica, it is by far the best main line classic game of franchise, it has it flaws, like the excessive and pointless backtracking, playing as Chris is straight up boring due to this, the game is still absolutly fantastic in all the rest, more refined and smooth gameplay, the lore is the best by far of all first 4 games, the ost as well, absolutly terrific, maybe the best as well to this day, the puzzles are very, very well done, and not that much hard if you pay attention, even the painting room is easy if you know how to access the files storage and of course, have a compatible language to your knowledge, some politics indeed aged like the finest milk, but it isn't necessarily a flaw by itself, even more Alfred was never meant to be a transgender, but a completaly disturbed guy, obssesed with his sister to the point to develop 2 personalities to ''have her'' by his side.

It was like, hey you just did a lot of this, do it again. I think it would have been served better as a B run through but thats my own personal opinion
Easily the worst classic RE and a horrible game
I played through it 2 weeks ago and beat it. It was the hardest out of the classic era of RE but it also was kinda boring for me. I do think it is over hated but it is not the worst. That goes to RE0 I hated that RE laughs. I think its a okay game at best. Bottom of B tier and it sure was better then RE5
I think im on point with all of this.
If the game aged poorly the game is not worth the money it didn't even sale 1.5 million copies world wide is not a good investment 😂😂

Code Veronica doesn't suck, on the contrary it is the last good RE game.
RE1 to 3 and Code Veronica are to me the masterpieces. After that everything is crap, full of fantasy and nonsense, silly scripts and boring storylines, specially 4, 5 and 6 are trash.
I totally see this point and that CV is loved. It didn’t hit me as much as everyone else but hey, to each their own. I want to thank you for taking the time out to still watch it though. Means a ton :)

This game was/is hot garbage lmao😂 boss fights are bad, annoying yellow mr.fantastic enemies, steve and alfred are straight up comedy characters, and since when claire became unkillable super badass? I honestly believe that "fans" of this game are just trolls🙂
