Great video mate. The white bulkhead screwed in, above that there is a connector for the dosing tube. What’s that called and where can I get it from. Thank you
have you tried adding food colouring to Kalkwasser? Is it safe? No weird chemical reactions going? Do you mind telling which food colouring additives exactly you are using? Thanks
Have you talked in depth before (maybe I missed it) about how you color your fluids? I assume it's something as simple as food coloring, but there's no chance that colors your tank water up at all? Does carbon just pull it out of the water column. I really like the simplicity of those 1 gallon jugs (I think you said Red Sea?) with the little scale line/window on the side.
@@ethanspruiell2722 Yeah, 100% can see it being useful in a situation where you have that many tanks, maybe not so much for a single tank? although the contrast of color may make it easier to notice when low versus water which is largely clear.
Hey Jake what are those rings around the dosing heads on the versa (at the 9 min mark) ? Are they to hold the tubing in position ? The tubing on my versa slips forward off the top roller causing the liquid to siphon back into the dosing container.
Hi Jake, some help please. Im using the coralbox 4 head doser, the problem Im experiencing, once the pumps dose the elements, they continuously drip, meaning the pumps off, but Im getting a drip a second. I have now stopped using the doser which is placed above the tank,Your input will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Well the unmentioned was the trident with its dose setup at $1800 but it tests and auto adjust as well as the mastertronic and dosetronic at $1900 that test and auto adjusts as well.
Jake, love love this vid thanks so much! How do you go about starting acropower dosing? Do you just start on the minimal amount listed on the bottle or do you have a time served approach? Also what products do you use for Alk cal and mag? Thanks Paul
I like to add 1ml of AP per 10 gallons of reef as a maximum dosage for tanks with LOTS of corals inside, but even adding 10ml to 50 gallons once a week should start getting you some improved growth
I said it before, adding food color to the containers is genius , I’m assuming running carbon will keep the water from turning color over time.? You must dose allot in that sps tank, is why I’m asking?
When you refer to buffer is it a ph buffer additive like a Brightwell PH+ or do you refer to sodium carbonate/bicarbonate as buffers because alk is a buffer to ph? I know there is a lot of focus on ph now vs the past and I thought it would be interesting if you found a ph buffer that adds alk in a stable way.
Jake ,great video,I guess you could say I have a better system,ATI DP-6, it’s all manual set up ,I like your best system, the WI-FI, it’s not s intimidating as the ATI
@@ReefBuildersVideo would you recommend using Sea Chem Buffer to Raise PH to 8.3 and DkH normally is at about 8-8.2 maybe it would raise it it to about 9-11 as some salts have that value.... then there is the issue with Borate!!!!!!
Hey Jake Thank you for the videos you make !!! Thanks to you I finally growing and keeping Acroporas!!!! Any suggestions on how to properly set up a kalkwasser reactor stirrer with a dosing pump THE PROPERLY JAKE WAY? Thank you !!
Kamoer absolutely makes some great dosing pumps, probably the only company dedicated to doing just that. If I didn't have the Johnlens I'd certainly be using some of their X1 and Pro 2 pumps
Do you test your water? If you want the absolute cheapest you could probably get by with water changes. Or hand dosing tropic Marin all for reef. Better yet just use some kalkwasser in your ato and save up for the doser you want.
Reading the comments, I'm sensing that there's a whole other video opportunity in relation to food colouring in dosing containers... I hadn't thought of it before, but seems like an awesome idea to keep things simple. Do you run carbon to pull the colouring out, or is it just not noticeable in the tank?
Versa pumps have unfortunately been out of stock for a very long time. At least at all the places I’ve looked. Probably covid related. Isn’t everything 🤣
I used to say the same thing about cheap dosers, until 2 of the 4 channels decided to stick ON out of the blue, hadn't touched the thing in months - I was incredibly lucky that it decided to bump my calcium and magnesium up to 3,000 ppm - not even joking - and that it wasn't the buffer channel
@@ReefBuildersVideo that sucks, I know this is getting weird but did you change the password on the dosers when you got them, I only say that cause you have a pretty big online presence and I believe the ability to remotely control them is there, I believe even if you did change the password if someone wanted to they could still use the dosers or change settings. In any case I’ll be keeping a very close eye on mine now haha

can you do a quick how to video on the dosing container colors and how they are lit up? or is that just room light making them that bright?
You got it

When will we have a nano tank update 😢
I like the color coding. Bet that is handy with so many systems
Does the massive amount of plants help keep the ph up?
No actually I think it hurts my pH since they add to the CO2 load at night, but at least they look cool
What are you using to dye the additives?
Food coloring

It’s just food coloring
I use simple food coloring and you don't see it in the tanks at all but if I dose a lot, the skimmate can get a little colorful

what is the fourth one ? the reactor what is it exactly?
When is ecotech going to start making the pumps again?
Love the dosing ideas and layouts

Can you tel Who is agua para?

Yes all new Versas come with a retainer ring, they'll probably send you some if you ask nicely

I have 3 of the GroTech NG1 on my tank that have been running for 8 years. They are basically the same as the John Len
How can you tell how many ml you need to dose because I can't find out
What do you use to dye the reagents?
You'd never want to tinker with your water testing reagents but I simply add food coloring to the additives

hi
Im using komoro pro dosing pump and im facing the air problem inside the tube what is the cause for this issue thx for ur replay
you must have a leak somewhere before the pump - I've had the same issue arise before but just fix the leak and you should be good to go

What controller do you use on the last setup. Looks good as well
I don't use any controllers since most of the best reef gear is already natively controllable

Yes for a 30 gallon tank you should really lean on mostly water changes at least until the tank is overflowing with corals.
Iam buying Hanna Checkers finally I have had api for a while so not super accurate soon I will test water
Why don’t you dose alk ?
Awesome!
How do you calculate your mag dosage?
I just dose a reasonable amount and manually dose to get it back on track
Jake says you can get the Johnlen pumps for $50. Where? Who is selling them? I only found 1 place that sells them...for $124ea
Dido. Can’t find them either.
You won't find them as Johnlens but you might find them under a different brand depending on your local market.
