I've used Fire Cider for 2 years. It is amazing. I make a gallon at a time and keep it in the fridge It keeps just fine for a year. Shake it before pouring. I add fresh turmeric to mine. If you add fresh turmeric then you have to add peppercorns to activate the turmeric. I use this instead of getting a flu shot. I buy the smallest bathroom paper cups and fill it half full. During winter I take it on the average of about 5 times a week. In the warmer weather I take it about 2 to 3 times a week unless I’m feeling more aches and pains then I take it more often. When I take it faithfully it greatly reduces aches and pains from inflammation. I put everything in the food processor a little bit at a time until everything is finely ground. Then I add the cider vinegar and the fresh squeezed lemon and orange juices. Doing it finely chopped in the food processor makes the job a lot faster and a lot less smelly. Also when the ingredients are finely ground it will ferment quicker and be ready to use sooner. Strain it and store in glass containers with non-metal caps (I use the bottles the vinegar came in).

Thank you Rosemany for this recipe. It's made, in my dark, cool closet and will be ready for my winter. I know live in Massachusetts, but like you was brought up in a very remote area of B.C. I was so lucky because my mother was a nurse who didn't believe in pharmaceutical remedies, but natural herbs and weeds. She taught us how to survive in the wilderness, if on our daily adventures, we got lost. I'm now attempting to relearn what she taught us and really enjoying the process. Thank you and keep doing your wonderful work.
I strongly believe in homeopathic and herbal medicine almost strictly. I had bacterial and fungal infection in my lungs lungs for 9 months. I had staph infection in my throat and sinuses for 8 months. Doctors kept refusing to give me antibiotics because I have liver disease, so my friend sent me a bottle of fire Cider tonic, told me to start by taking two tablespoons to the first day, increase it to for the second day, and then going to increase it to five until it's all gone. My infection was gone in 5 days.
I make what I consider a 'ginormous' batch of this every year so that I can share it with my family. Some of them just use it as a rescue remedy when they feel illness coming and some of them really love the taste so much that they use it as a cocktail base. Hubby and I just use it straight-up after it has been strained and had local honey added for our health during the winter. I've come back to this video of yours again and again and directed many people to watch it when they have questions about it too. Thank you for this precious resource.

I love fire cider. I have never put horseradish in it but I have tons growing in my yard. I am going to try it. My first recipe I followed the Ball canning. It was good. Wonderful Rosemary, thank you for all you do. You personally have inspired me to finally act upon an inherent lifelong yearning to work with plants and start really looking at the medicinal gift that herbs are. I've planted a wonderful Medic garden which I keep adding to as I discover more amazing species, so now that these lovely plants are growing, my knowledge needs to keep apace with them. Aside from tinkering as a young person with miniature alcohol bottles and whatever plants I felt were useful from the garden, this Fire Cider recipe isthe first real remedy I am making. Thank you for yor generous sharing, your clear instruction, your deep love of the plant kingdom, and your heartfelt enthusiasm. I can't help but get more excited by the minute! :) 🌹🌻❤️🌻🌹
Ty Rosemary. We truly love this recipe. I have been a fan for a few years now. I have also made your onion and honey mixture for cough/ sore throat. I have also bought your book. I made your facial cream and gave jars of it away for Christmas a couple of years ago. Love you. Thank you so much.
my girl friend who is pushing 90 told me the other day how her mom used to have a pan of onions and sugar on the back of the stove for cough syrup. they couldnt afford honey :-)
There's actually a native American recipe my friend made for me years ago with onions and yes, sugar. It knocked out my cold pretty quickly in about twenty four hours.
This was absolutely wonderful! She made me chuckle when she tasted the tincture because I would react the same way! I would love to meet Rosemary! She is inspirational!
I just love you...what a lovely, gifted healer, and teacher you are! Sincere thanks for these videos! I have both of your books mentioned in the onion honey syrup video. They're both a resource I use frequently.
I don't know - that is odd that one jar would turn completely different. Perhaps that jar had a metal lid? The vinegar will corrode metal. As for whether to toss that green jar... My adage is "When in doubt, throw it out." ~Julie
thank you so much for this recipe. i used to make herbal teas during the cold/flu season and my kids didn't mind them. however, i've got a husband who won't have anything to do with tea but he loves cayenne, horseradish, onions, honey, and garlic. i'll still have to sell him on the apple cider vinegar, though! i'm sure this recipe will do the trick. i make my own ACV....Braggs is expensive here in Canada, although i've used it in the US and i like it. thanks again, Rosemary....you rock!
I followed this recipe and made fire cider. I ended up making three jars-two pints and one quart. Today is the day I can strain it and add the honey. My question is this: The quart jar remained a beautiful tumeric yellow color. One of the pint jars turned slightly dull yellow and the third pint jar turned pea green. All three jars were created at the same time with the same ingredients. What happened in the green jar and is it safe to use? Should I throw it away? Thanks!
I have seen this recipe with hot peppers(jalapeño), and turmeric as well. We know that turmeric has amazing healing capabilities and is a strong anti inflammatory. What great knowledge you have. Would love to hang out with you in your kitchen and garden to soak up some of your wisdom. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Rosemary this is a very inspiring video and thank you for the bit at the end about observing the body's energetic response when you take something.
Thank you for this wonderful recipe!! I am making some today for my family ❤️ I was wondering ... I tend to be more on the “hot” side of the spectrum ... always hot-blooded, and I find that peppermint helped my pregnancy nausea much better than ginger, etc. Rosemary, you mentioned that this particular remedy might be less helpful for someone like me. Are there other similar (but not quite as warming) recipes for immune health/balance? Thank you!
I am not generally a fan of a lot of extra verbiage in videos like this but I really did enjoy your presentation. I already have 2 of your books and it was a pleasure to find you on TH-cam! Thank you1
i have just found your fantastic informative site!!!!! Wonderful , do you have a BOOK? In these times I think every home should have a natural medicinal bible . With your very informative reasons and uses of each tincture, you have a new huge fan from Scotland.
Absolutely! Any vinegar will work but especially raw vinegar... if you have a batch of kombucha gone to vinegar by all means use it. I would just really strain any kombucha gunk out as the little slime is unpleasant for most people.
Te quiero mucho, Romerita! I love you so much, Rosemary! You're amazing. This actually reminds me of a Nicaraguan pickled chile, onion and garlic condiment called chilero. Always on the tabletops of any kitchen or eatery in Nicaragua. Used to add spice but I'm sure it helps our immunity as well.
Thanks Rosemary, I too was wondering where in the way back in BC did you live? I live in the Crescent Valley in Upper Passmore, near Winlaw, BC, which is 45 minutes from Nelson... It is so great to live off the land and to learn how to heal ourselves with natural remedies! Be well!
Thank you Rosemary for sharing this excellent cold and flu remedy! I have been purchasing something similar at the store and paying a pretty penny for it! It's always better homemade. Blessings!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I recently got your book, Medicinal Herbs. A Beginner's Guide. I am looking forward to learning more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. May God Bless you with Himself!
You are remarkable! What a wealth of knowledge you are and a fantastic teacher. I've been studying plant and floral life remedies just for the last year. I often start to feel over-whelmed by the amount of information and that I'll never learn it all. But you have such a fun and calm nature in the way you teach that it is really calming yet encouraging. Thank You much!
I haven't made any in a couple-few years...life's been a whirlwind and I've honestly forgotten. I'm so glad to be reminded! The last batch, I eers! dried elderberries and some long peppers. Just some extra herbs I personally love. I wonder, does anyone have reasons to think this is a bad idea? Please, comment away! Cheers!
WOW, why am I just hearing about you on Facebook?? I definitely will make this soon as I get a jar. Does ONE jar last you all winter? I assume you only take a shot WHEN you feel the need? Now that I am retired, it's time I get ME healthy. THANK you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I appreciate it. I notice many more video's of yours I will be kicking back with for the rest of the night!
+RedBev59 It is entirely up to you! I know some people that only use fire cider when they are starting to feel under the weather and if they are sick, and I know some people that take a shot every single day. If you drink a shot (literally using a shot glass) of it every day, this could last about 2-4 weeks (depending how much liquid you use vs how much herbs). My friend usually makes 4 jars at a time and keeps them in a cupboard. They can sit for 6 months, up to a year. This page has some more info for you: mountainroseblog.com/fire-cider/
Krystle Martin I've been reading from various U-tube channels that this is good indefinitely after straining all the vegetables etc. out and jar up. Like the Apple Cider Vinegar. Store in cool dark place..... Rosemary would this be correct information?? Thank you for these very informative video. Just goofing out about your channel and thus awesome drink😃
I love your videos you are so inspiring. I also love your kitchen. As i have been learning, I have been gradually transforming my own kitchen to meet our needs. I hope to one day soon have it all together.
If I am hot-natured, then what other options do I have? Should I use something like Vim & Vigor or Strength of the Hills? I want to make my own so it will be of the highest quality, like yours! Thank you!
Don't know how old you are Rosemary but you look great and are a great advertisement for your products (and vegetarian diet, what about B12?), great video, will be making fire cider now at home, great book too on medicinal herbs, we need more people like you in the world
If you reduce the maceration time, less of the constituents will be pulled from the plant material. The remedy may still work though - you could test it and see.
Hello and thank you for the great video! So some organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar I found in Vermont is only 2-3% acidity whereas bragg's is 5% acidity. Is the higher acidity necessarily better? Or is it not so much the acidity which makes it effective?
Hello thank you for your informative video. After decanting what do you do with the veg when the juice has been extracted. Do you use it for something or compost it. Once again thank you.
Hey everyone. I made mine a few yrs ago with scotch bonnet peppers, onions, garlic, horseradish & ginger all equal parts. Strained it after 4-6 wks & strained it through cheesecloth & poured into dark bottles. Has anyone had a similar recipe? Thanks to ANYONE who responds😊

Thanks for this! I make my own elderberry syrup every year but I keep seeing this and I think my body really needs it
I have added a cinnamon stick, super good for your body and mixes well with this remedy
An absolutely tangy Salad dressing, thanks. HorseRadish helps immunity. All Grt ingredients !!!
my girl friend who is pushing 90 told me the other day how her mom used to have a pan of onions and sugar on the back of the stove for cough syrup. they couldnt afford honey :-)
haha your girlfriend
It's onions and honey
There's actually a native American recipe my friend made for me years ago with onions and yes, sugar. It knocked out my cold pretty quickly in about twenty four hours.
@@karenkonczyk260 it's onions & sugar actually.
Is the sugar and onions cooked? Can I use honey because, I have macular degeneration and sugar is bad.
My adage is "When in doubt, throw it out."

Love your Moon necklace!!
thank you so much for this recipe. i used to make herbal teas during the cold/flu season and my kids didn't mind them. however, i've got a husband who won't have anything to do with tea but he loves cayenne, horseradish, onions, honey, and garlic. i'll still have to sell him on the apple cider vinegar, though! i'm sure this recipe will do the trick. i make my own ACV....Braggs is expensive here in Canada, although i've used it in the US and i like it. thanks again, Rosemary....you rock!
Rosemary, thank you for this instructional. I will be making it tomorrow using some of my home grown garlic.
Excellent recipe I'm going to try it this winter I love garlic and onion and horse radish...sounds like a great cold remedies / immune system booster!
Thank you!
I am so encouraged by your spirit! My heart just wants to take to heart your wisdom
I am not generally a fan of a lot of extra verbiage in videos like this but I really did enjoy your presentation. I already have 2 of your books and it was a pleasure to find you on TH-cam! Thank you1
Where does it sit on the counter or fridge? Thanks!
Where should the fire cider vinegar should be kept after the fermentation is complete. Outside on the worktop or inside the fridge. Thanks. X
i have just found your fantastic informative site!!!!! Wonderful , do you have a BOOK? In these times I think every home should have a natural medicinal bible . With your very informative reasons and uses of each tincture, you have a new huge fan from Scotland.
Thank you! THANK You! THANK YOU!! You hit 3 things before half way. Ginger I fail on all the time. Now I know DO NOT BURY.
Going to try it, this lady is wonderful 😊
How does Fire Cider need to be stored?
Thank you for the video & recipe. I will be making fire cider this week for the fall!
Rosemary! I bought your book and I love it! Best book Ive bought in years! Wonderful!
Blessings!
Does it need to be refrigerated after straining?
Thank you for this wonderful video. I recently got your book, Medicinal Herbs. A Beginner's Guide. I am looking forward to learning more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. May God Bless you with Himself!
I love you Rosemary
I would so love it if someone would post approximate quantities of the various ingredients for a one gallon batch?
Rosemary shows to make one quart. Just mix X4 for one gallon
There is another channel called acre Homestead where she makes fire cider on one of her videos in a gallon jar. Watching hers might help you.
What a treat to find you here, Rosemary! (Sylvia from Vancouver Island and decades ago) I'll check out your website. I love your radiance :-)
Cheers!
My husband tends to be warm but I need a recipe to suit him, do you have another recipe for him? Thank you
just started to get into organic foods and more DIY stuff, and stumbled upon your channel, great info! thank you for sharing all of this.
Very interesting, I will definitely try. Thank you.
What channel?
Amazing. I love this woman!
I have to say this stuff works wonderfully! Thank you for sharing.
Awesome. Wish I had some right now.
Thank you!
Her voice sounds so young!
Don't know how old you are Rosemary but you look great and are a great advertisement for your products (and vegetarian diet, what about B12?), great video, will be making fire cider now at home, great book too on medicinal herbs, we need more people like you in the world
Thank you Rosemary. I have a couple of your books, and I love them.
If you reduce the maceration time, less of the constituents will be pulled from the plant material. The remedy may still work though - you could test it and see.
Rosemary Gladstar is adorable!
I loved hearing you talk about the remedy, is there a book you could suggest to learn about this? ❤
2. I wonder how this would be with a habanoro pepper, and brine ferment?? Will find out.
Thank you we have a groups on Facebook and we were chatting about this today:)
Hello and thank you for the great video! So some organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar I found in Vermont is only 2-3% acidity whereas bragg's is 5% acidity. Is the higher acidity necessarily better? Or is it not so much the acidity which makes it effective?
I only buy from Mountain Rose Herbs.
Hello thank you for your informative video. After decanting what do you do with the veg when the juice has been extracted. Do you use it for something or compost it. Once again thank you.
I adore this lady hunnie
Hey everyone. I made mine a few yrs ago with scotch bonnet peppers, onions, garlic, horseradish & ginger all equal parts. Strained it after 4-6 wks & strained it through cheesecloth & poured into dark bottles. Has anyone had a similar recipe? Thanks to ANYONE who responds😊
Haven’t come across horse radish in New Zealand 🇳🇿 where I live as yet
Really loved this video and am making hot cider tonight. Question- is it ok to use burdock root in this? I also saw some recipes with turmeric?
Pretty much sure you Can improvise.
this video is nice and all but would have loved her actually making it!
Can children take it?
The best~ Can't recommend making it YOURSELF enough! Add your tastes and touches, and share with your family. This recipe is a great, great place to start!
Can you make a garlic, onion and honey mix??
Happy Day! I got to see Rosemary at Frontier Herb Co-op one summer and it was so much fun to spend time learning from someone like her. United Plant Savers, Rosemary, Paul Strauss all great teachers. I have made this cold and flu remedy several times and I believe it is a valuable tonic for my sinuses.
Great christmas gifts for family and friends :) Thank you!
This is very interesting I'd like to try that and even learn how to grow my own herbs.
