Begonias are my absolute favorite!!! Great video!!! 😃👍🏼🪴
I am an aroid guy, but I have everything else also. My begonias were deteriorating in the house. I moved them outside in Florida. They of course got plenty of humidity, but getting the right light, without burning them was a problem. I got plant light and humidifiers and they are doing better than they did outside. It may seem strange to have humidifiers in Florida, but air conditioning just sucks the moisture out of the air.
The trick to angel wing begonias is not to give them too much direct sun because their leaves will burn and they like to dry out a tiny bit between waterings. They have a lot of water stored in those canes. I've done a couple unboxing videos on my TH-cam channel and I just ordered a bunch more begonia is from Steve's leaves
I agree begonias are underrated. I love them. Have a few myself. Past summer I picked up the medora. Not as big as yours but it has done some serious growing. It’s my favourite too. Thanks for the helpful info. 👍

It was a great video Lynn and I have been hooked on begonia is for a long time. I think I probably have over 30 varieties... I'm always on Steve's leaves seeing what new ones he has posted for sale. He has some of his $29 begonias on sale for $19 great by. These that I'm talkin about he has hybridized himself and they get huge leaves.

I'm not exactly sure what the proper name for it is but it's the Angel wing begonia it will grow to the point where you can trail it up a ladder or a trellis or anything you want I've seen them where they went around an entire archway and it was beautiful and it was all in flower it was absolutely gorgeous

If you'd like to help your soil stay a little moist there's something called soil moist that you can add to your potting mix. I think it's the best invention ever to help keep our plants healthy and happy. It's a polymer that absorbs 50% it's weight in water. It's little tiny crystals that you mix them with the soil and they absorb water but do not make the soil soggy and the water is just sitting there and what looks like a little piece of clear Jello until the soil dries out and The Roots still need some water. I also think because it expands and contracts as it fills with water and then the roots take all the water out of the crystal it helps aerate the soil and keep the soil from becoming compacted. But I have rooted cuttings of coleus and I go to repot them in the spring or summer or anytime coleus don't like to dry out. I add soil moisture to the potting mix because in the summer sometimes things and pots could be watered once or twice a day especially in hanging baskets. But when I put soil moist in the mixed with my coleus or begonia cuttings they thrive. Polymer crystals last for a couple years so sometimes when I recycle my potting soil from the year before and my outside pots I try to add maybe half fresh potting mix so I Sometimes can recycle the mix from the year before. Sometimes if they're still soil moist crystals from the year before and we get a heavy rain and I've added more soil moist to the pot it can look like I'm growing clear chunks of Jell-O in my flower pots. But the soil doesn't get soggy and doesn't roll it out the plants. So I think if you're an over water this would help keep the water level in the soil okay for plants and not let them rot. I think it would be better than adding Moss 2 your soil for your plants
I probably have a collection of over 20 begonias! They're all Angel Wing Begonia is as of this moment. I've posted some unboxing videos of begonia is from Steve's leaves, logees, and Taylor's Greenhouse. If you want basically a rooted cutting of a begonia and there I believe $8.95 with free shipping if you buy 80 some dollars worth of plants go to Taylor's Greenhouse. If you want big healthy two stemmed plants then go to logee's or Steve's leaves. I think Steve's leaves is the best place to buy angel wing begonias. They also have a huge selection of Rex begonias. I think I probably have over 30 begonia is now that I think of it... these plants are underrated for sure and they have such beautiful leaves without spending their whole paycheck on one plant.
Great video Lynn! Wish I could find more information on Beefsteak begonia, no one seems to have them anymore.
What kinda info are you looking for? I have a few beefsteaks and they are great fun to grow
I'm trying to figure out why the leaves are cupping under. The leaves are also looking rather dull.

I have just recently started to collect Begonias..living on Vancouver Island Canada..where right now is our rainy season/fall it rains alot...I don't use humidifiers...only a very tiny defuser near my Begonias...zip love love these plants...look forward to collecting more...awesome 👌 video..tks
Begonias aren’t my favorite,However I do love my Julau and another delicate terrarium type begonia , they are delicate and doing well , very low maintenance under glass tfs I started collecting plants mostly from cuttings I have many in plastic Solo cups - recycle 😊

She doesn’t use a humidifier for the begonias? Where I’m from we have similar levels of humidity
I do I have 4 humidifiers in the house but I still barely get above 50% .
