My grandfather drove that very train engine in Colorado. He visited Knott's in the seventies, and told the park's engineer that it was his engine, and they let him take a lap. He was in his late eighties. It was pretty much the high point of his life.
He made enough money driving the train to keep himself, wife and two sons in complete poverty in the scary Colfax neighborhoodof Denver. Sad, considering the amount of responsibility.
It’s a nice kid ride but what’s funny is I thought it would be extremely slow. So when that thing took off the speed almost took my breath away because I wasn’t expecting it. 😂
This ride is so much fun. SO enjoyable. It’s my favorite ride there at the park! To anybody who is scared, please, don’t be! It’s ALL worth it in the time. It’s fast, yes, but it’s so fast you won’t feel a thing. You don’t get that feeling in your stomach you do with most rides, it’s honestly suitable for anyone. You haven’t experienced any scary ride until you go on something like Ghost Rider. So even if you’re scared, I highly recommend you go on.
This was the one coaster I didn't get to ride the last time I was at Knott's. The line was just too long. Kinda glad I passed it up because although it looks fun, it's just SO short. Watching this, I'm like......"THAT'S IT???!"

davidjellis no, I haven’t, i’m so upset that I’ve never got the Chance To ride it. I went to Knott’s twice, and It was closed both times. I’ll Most likely be riding it in the next 2 years though.
I hope you get to ride it...it's a terrific coaster - we were there on the day it was supposed to open in 2002, and we saw it test and it never opened...so I know how you feel...and we had travelled from the UK to be there.

@@davidjellis they were nice enough about it, they just moved us backwards into the loading station, got us off and were only down for about 30 mins max. Perks of being in front though, I had quite a nice view as opposed to looking at someone's butt XD

Sometime in 2017, Knott's should expand Pony Express over the Bigfoot Rapids. People would be happy if that happened n the rides time would be extended to 1min and a half. Remove the helix of Silver Bullet from the water n restore Reflection Lake, expand Coast Rider over Surf Gliders n Pacific Scrambler. Finally Xcelerator should be turned into a dueling coaster n called Xcelerator Drag Racers.
It used to be a nice park in the 70s and 80s now just another roller coaster theme park.. Yuck.. I miss the mine shaft and all the old west stuff they even had a stage coach ride at one time..

Well the fastest roller coaster on earth is 149.1 miles per hour.that is really fast but that looks like it was going 60-70 mph

Not sure - Zamperla made a few moto coasters but not sure how much any of them were customised.

The one time I got front row on this we got stuck just mid launch and had to evacuate after 20 minutes of being stuck in postion 😭

Pony express is the same age as me! It came out on 2008 May 22nd and I was born on May 22nd 2008!

It wasn't the glasses that is the issue...they just need to be secured via a strap.

Waste of space at Knotts berry farm. The airtime is minimal, and launch is force less. Please, cedar fair, replace it with something else
