He's making mistakes but the biggest problem is what's in front of him. I don't understand how we can play possession based football with 2 no. 8 style players who want to pass the ball as soon as they see it and a single number 6 who gets endlessly exposed when those in front of him concede possession. Players like Bruno, Rashford and McTom concede possession too easily. We then suffer on the counter as we invariably only have a no. 6 and 2 CBs doing the defensive duties. Our full backs are always up supporting the attack, which should create opportunities to retain possession but it doesn't because "unintelligent play". There's no point having 2 wingers, a striker, 2 bloody fullbacks and 2 number 8s hanging around the final 3rd if the default will be to play a poor cross or a low percentage "thread the ball through the eye of a needle" pass. The players in the centre, often Bruno and McTom simply do not use the others around them effectively so we lose possession to easily. And when Rashy is playing we lose it on the wing very quickly. Apart from a naturally intelligent and calm player like Mainoo and the now very slow Eriksen, our other midfield options are more suited towards counterattacking football. They panic when pressed so they need the space of a counterattack. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the possession based style of play but we're just not geared as a team to execute it. We should still have won that game on Wednesday. Martial, Pellistri and McTom all missed very scorable opportunities at the end. But it wouldn't have come to that if we had a blend of players that could control a game rather than throwing it away.

Playing with Maguire and Lindelof we can’t stay high to press and retreat as soon as we lose the ball as they can’t deal with the ball over the top or even into the channels if the full backs have gone high to support the attack or press wingers. Also if you have been watching us we haven’t made much use of his footballing ability as he plays it short to centre backs or full backs and 80% of the time his gone longer the ball has been turned over as it’s not an accurate pass going out of play or not even allowing the striker a chance to challenge for the ball. Also even his saves in the premier league which give him high stats are not convincing pushing the ball back into play or worse
So basically, what could help Onana is...a better (or at least more composed) defense ? Thanks for these videos which shows what is never told in the heat of the moment on TV. Also nice "close enough" Resident Evil 4 Leon Kennedy cosplay.
That first goal (or the conceding of the free kick) was all McTominay. He and Bruno had both made good runs forward, and instead of making a simple square ball to a wide open Bruno on the edge of the box, he decided to clip the ball in to a marked Martial and inevitably lost it. That caused us to be extremely wide open and Bruno was the only one willing to chase back and then ultimately had to commit the foul

he has melted under the pressure at OT. As for the tika tika argument (he is there to help bring about a possession based system), clearly ETH wont have the time to build like he did at AJAX. besides, theres not a single shred of evidence that the football has evolved. its dire.
Let's go more in depth about it in that game, shall we? Scott McTominey, who is the 8, didn't drop back as Quickly as the 10 has. And remind me who the the 10 is? Oh yeah, Bruno... to blame him for condeding the free kicks is not to have watched the deficiency in the game. Ten Hag keeps picking a useless player in build up and defence because he is scoring. If you really want to analyse in dept, watch how many times McTominey goes missing in the game (spoiler: almost the entire game). The midfield balance is causing United, yes Bruno condeded, but that's because he is doing the 8's job, the 8 is not tracking back: This is on Ten Hag to fix, and the injuries currentlyare sure not helping.
What I get from this analysis is that the main issue with Man Utd is mentality. They are so fragile that anything that goes against them they give up and ship goals. The biggest example of this is the last 4 league matches against Liverpool. It has been a combined score of 17-2 to Liverpool…. ETH has been at the club for more than a year and they don’t look any stronger. That’s the most worrying thing.
Peoole forget that DDG's first season with United was not great. He faced the same media and fan pelters just rhe same as Onana is now. Look how that worked out.
I'm not sure "good going forward" sticks. We're OK and largely better at counter, as usual, than possession. We don't even score from any of our turnovers. Our greatest issue is the centre backs. The gap between attack and defence remains huge because we've got no pace. Onana can't link up because they're too deep. Or, he links up and as rapidly caught out of position because we're so bad at managing transitions against us. It looks and feels like midfield because the gaping hole is there but he is 7goals over the xG (good)... De Gea never beat 4. What's concerning is what happens in the Champions League. It suggests mentality. And, if you look at the errors, they are nearly all footwork-related. You/we could also look at Bruno giving the free kick and the centre backs being nowhere near clearing the ball. Vidic clears those lines so Van de Saar doesn't have to.
Build up skills are all well and good but if you can't be relied upon to get your technique right on basic saves and actually focus on what you're doing then you'll always be a liability. The coaches need to work with him and work on his technique and decision making because he's making the manager look like a fool and his team mates will lose faith in him if he keeps costing them points. United would already be qualified in 2nd for next round of CL if it wasn't for his errors. He got Casemiro sent off with a poor pass out from the back.. so even his supposed strength has been a liability at times. Man needs to shape up.

Two goals up and wtf are they playing at? No tactical discipline. McT still running around the opponent's box like he's Messi's lankier, less gifted brother, instead of doing the critical part of his job - helping Amrabat screen the back four. It happens so often. He's been great around the opponents box but seems magnetically opposed to ours. Is that coaching? Is that the player not following the game plan? Bruno needs to be communicating that on pitch and not when the horse has bolted and nobody is there to cover.
He made a bad choice to join Man United. Every game it’s him against the opposition. Man U back four is easy to break, they are porous and any goalkeeper will suffer. However, at United there’s no chance of sympathy. They will tear him apart just like they did to pogba, lukaku, etc.
United has faced 73 shots on goal in just 4 games how many of this shots went in why are some people so dump placing the blame on one person the goalkeeper is absolutely crazy
Proves you didn’t watch the games. He constantly concedes weak goals from errors that even a Sunday league goalkeeper would save. Shots that roll directly at him with the pace of a snail. He’s garbage
Andre Onana is good, but horribly inconsistent. His build up has been a welcome addition to the team yes, but that cannot excuse his complete lack of limbs when it comes to simple saves. It baffles me to see him make these sorts of mistakes. I don't think a single other prem goalkeeper would've made those two mistakes, but what I do see are several prem goalkeepers able to play the ball like him. I hope he can get his shit together, because at this point I'm beginning to doubt that Erik will ever bench him. And lets not start blaming the defense or the other players for these mistakes. Yes one of the freekicks was Bruno's doing, but any and I mean any professional goalkeeper should have made at least one of those two saves.
Stick to Onana is like sticking shit on ETH face....Onana is de worst ever goalkeeper i hve ever seen. Easy goals n doesn't even catch balls clean. Throw him out or sack ETH
In all honesty. Onanas passing is mids.. all he does is clear it out. I’ve seen Nick Pope make better passes that led to smooth counters. I’d rather have my keeper remember his position before he tries to be fancy.
These are the same issue ddg had all of those saying David would have saved those need to see what he did last season there were many mistakes he cost us the fa cup last season
@@Ducbery He is 26 and played in Turkey for years where he was hot and cold constantly. If he wasn't incredible there then he has no chance in the premier league.
I swear people make the "pressure for playing at United" bigger than it actually is.
So he's good at everything except what the goalkeepers should do, saving shots 🤣🤣
He made a bad choice to join Man United. Every game it’s him against the opposition. Man U back four is easy to break, they are porous and any goalkeeper will suffer. However, at United there’s no chance of sympathy. They will tear him apart just like they did to pogba, lukaku, etc.
Are you stupid or just faking it? Did you hear he's currently the 2nd best shot stopper in the league?
So the keeper with the second highest save%, and highest xG prevented is 'bad at saving shots'??

Further highlights that stats don't mean shit if you watch the fucking matches
@@Parky_1712everyone says so, it must be true. Though I wonder how many critics are simply fans of someone else.
Oh boi indeed Adam, Oh Boi indeed …💀
He's just not a shot stopper
Even they have good formation but bruno who responsible as captain are kind ego
8:50 your rounding up is a little bit excessive… it 3.3 yards…? 8:50
Still want my man back at Inter! Jokers United!
We don’t
Here in 40ish seconds!
C’mon what culture guy pretty certain Onana wears 24 it takes what .. 2 mins to do research an DC now this is Four Four Two jeez 🙄
As usual Man Utd is good on paper but Sheffield Wednesday on the pitch
Crisp packet hands 😂
Stick to Onana is like sticking shit on ETH face....Onana is de worst ever goalkeeper i hve ever seen. Easy goals n doesn't even catch balls clean. Throw him out or sack ETH
Maguire is ruining another player!!
so they can concede more goals, thats the only reason
In all honesty. Onanas passing is mids.. all he does is clear it out. I’ve seen Nick Pope make better passes that led to smooth counters. I’d rather have my keeper remember his position before he tries to be fancy.
Because he's been the second best keeper in the Premier League so far this season
Hope that helps x
These are the same issue ddg had all of those saying David would have saved those need to see what he did last season there were many mistakes he cost us the fa cup last season
still a better team than Arsenal
Easier reason. They have nobody else. ETH got rid of our golden glove keeper and Altay is dogshit.
@@Ducbery He is 26 and played in Turkey for years where he was hot and cold constantly. If he wasn't incredible there then he has no chance in the premier league.
Because it’s funny
The only problem is we haven’t seen all this from Onana
I swear people make the "pressure for playing at United" bigger than it actually is. Inter Milan, last years UCL finalist, 3 time UCL winner, one of the biggest clubs in the world let alone Italy, Onana knows pressure. United is probably a downgrade of pressure tbh.
It's just bad form or a lack of mental focus trying to adjust to a new way of life
He had no problem adjusting to Italian life. If anything its the media difference between the two countries plus utd having a f*cked up management system and no ball playing defensive players
the hate against onana is reactive, plastic fans being plastic
Onanass is bad.
Yeah how dare people react to their goalkeeper losing them games.
He's useless if united can't keep the ball in mf
Why? Because diversity??
Disagreeing is one thing, flat out ignoring a different viewpoint is another 🤣

The midfield leave our defence seriously exposed and we’ve shown to be so open the last few months and it hasn’t changed
And our centre backs are Maguire and lindelof 😂
Onana is the least of our worries
Take my respect, next video is how man united fans makes maguire like a disgraceful defender of all time, although he gives three points in Champions league *this season*
