I just bought one! I have NEVER seen one at my local grocery stores (Im in West TN) EVER! Never seen one! I was walking through looking for a good pineapple, and seeing if any good strawberries were out yet, and there it was..... My jaw literally dropped and I literally started jumping up and down and squealing!! I embarrassed the heck outta my 13 yr old son, but I've always wanted to try one, but have NEVER seen one at my local stores! There were only 3 so i grabbed them up and now aim trying to figure out what exactly to do with them!! I also picked up a couple Kowibana Melons? Orange spikey lookin things. Ive never seen them before, never heard of them, but they had 2 sitting beside the dragonfruits so i grabbed them up to! 😁 Google says they are an African fruit! I know I probably sound crazy, but living in an extremely rural town - closest walmart and Krogers is a 45 minute drive - so Im just freaking EXCITED over finding these!!
I live in rural Indiana. When I go to town there are some stores that will carry them. I have found dragon fruit at a whole foods, fresh time and payless (kroger corp). Payless even has star fruit (taste like apple and it looks like little stars when sliced) and papaya can be found there usually all the time. Look by the coconuts. I baught a dragon fruit cause my daughter thought it looked like alien food. So we tried it together. It's so bland and has a texture of kiwi but definitely does not taste like one. I didn't think it was worth the money (paid $6.50 for it). We both thought it was gross. Not sure if you can church it up to make it better? For health properties the only reason I would ever get another one is for a smoothie. It has no flavor. It's cool looking but not sweet or tart. But to each there own. Have to try it at least once in your life. So you can say you have had something that looks like it grew in Avatar.
@@karthikg6459 underripe dragonfruit is basically flavorless. It should be mildly sweet when ripe, mine was hardly ripe so it was mostly flavorless but some bites were a delicious sweet
We also went to the store. My granddaughter wanted one and asked me for one. We took the dragon fruit home and looked up recipes and how to cut one open and it landed us here.
This was helpful! I just bought one for my daughter she really wanted to try it, I didn't want to mangle it so I figured it would be smart to watch a video on the best way to cut it and I'm glad I did! Thanks for the tutorial!
Did you like it? I just tried my first one cause my son Andi were curious and neither one of us liked it. We are fruit lovers but this just didn't taste like much. Maybe I just didn't get a good one I'm not sure. I did hear that the yellow ones are sweater.
Excellent, clear, simple. Thank goodness someone commented about yellow ones, I wondered why mine wasn't red! Taste and texture are like a kiwi, but without the tart or sour taste. Not sure it's worth the high price our local market charged. Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks!! I had my first bite of dragon fruit Sunday and fell in love with it! Wanted to get some to try… Kind of expensive, but definitely worth it! Now I know how to cut it. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tutorial, my mother knew I love dragon fruit flavored drinks and bought me some dragon fruit the try out, but we got a little confused on how to cut it. Again thank you for the tutorial, the fruit is really good and hoping to buy more in the future soon! ❤
I am an Indian and here we have only imported Dragon Fruits. Today is the first day that I have eaten this. Thanks for guiding me how to cut it. But it is tasteless. I dont know whether it is having any taste at the local area. We have mangoes here and I wish you should try it once
Very cool. So helpful. Got my first one today and will try this out tomor. I was surprised to see what the insides look like! So curious what it will taste like!?!
I’m a picky teen and I don’t like any seafood pizza spaghetti and a lot of other popular foods I don’t like many firuts or veggie li like corn green beans strawberries bananas and NOW DRAGON FRIUT
Thanks for this video today I buy dragon fruit I I don't how to cut and eat this video help me out .....I this video Is informative for me 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ thx one again 🙏
Thank you so much for such an easy-to-follow tutorial! I wanted to give some Ecuadorian dragon fruits to my friend but she doesn’t know how to cut them. Showed her this video, she’s all set and now happily munching 😁 Now to teach her how to cut pineapples...
I said I wish I could get my hands on some in Texas and gosh darnit thee lord answered my prayers. They’re $4 a pop so I bought 2. I hope I like them. They must be really good because they’re practically sold out.
Didn’t know Started cutting it then decided to watch his tutorial did the first part naturally then follow by gliding my fingers under the skin. A good sign also that the fruit is ready to eat. My tasted simple no sweet at all. Thank you
Im about to have my first dragon fruit in years ! . They are difficult to find in england as major supermarkets dont stock them . I found a little shop that sells them the other day :) £5 each! But worth it 🤤
I just opened mine - it is the red coloured glossy with black seeds - so stunning looking. Red juice everywhere. Tastes ok but not very strong. But try it in whipped natural cream (not whipping cream or thickened that's got crap ingredients in them). Awesome with natural cream that is whipped!
I bought one for the first time, I let it sit a couple of days, then I cut it and peeled it. It was super juicy, good texture, BUT no flavor whatsoever! I can't say it was bland because that'd imply that it has at least a hint of something, bit was 100% tasteless...
Tried it for the first time today with my wife, I instantly said it tasted like watermelon and kiwi which was correct it’s a mix between the two. I don’t thank I’ll try aging though didn’t sit well with my stomach
Wow this was much easier than I thought. These always looked intimidating in the store but this is a great tutorial.
Thank you sunny
omg SO intimidating!
And it tates like kiwi, but less sourly 😋😋😋😋😋
@@steffyduty706 that’s what I’m saying 😂 and it’s bigger

My child eats it in 10 second...she loves dragon fruit especially the yellow one...it is expensive but worth buying it

Same here but im a child :)
She become kaido from one piece...XD
I prefer the pink one (the flesh) it’s messy tho
@It’s ya boy Devin Cornell Morgan where are you from bro
No nonsense instructions and this actually helped me. Well done!

You’re right

@@swiftlessytvlogs5637 The one I tried tasted like the blandest fruit ever. Lol never buying them again, although they are visually so pleasing.

Dragon fruit tastes like a cucumber and a kiwi hybrid. You’d think something so beautiful would have more flavor profile to it

You are most welcome
I ate it an 5 seconds it’s so good
wow this actually helped alot! thanks, great video!!
Glad to hear it!
Just had one and it was almost tasteless. It had a very very slight sweet taste. Nothing more! Healthy for you though.
How do you know when it’s ripe? Is it slightly soft like an avocado?
Soft not mushy though and pink
Luckily we grow dragon fruit because the ones in the market are expensive
Where can I get the seeds? Or just cut the root and plant it ?
Must try again!!
I ate this fruit for the first time today and its not so sweet as expected however it tastes fine.
Im about to cut one for my daughter now👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks bro🙏
Thank you! this is so helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
@@Masterclass1 Never bought a dragon fruit before. This seemed to have no flavor...juicy but no distinct flavor. Is that accurate?
Really good
Thanks!
Thanks that was easy.
I don’t trust dudes who drive sharp knives into a plate.
How do you wash it properly? Is there a specific way to do it?
no skarmex you can wash it normally there is no specific way to wash it anyhow how you get dragon fruit i mean its not available everywhere
Your video is too too slow. I watched in double speed. Otherwise good one. Thanks
Noted
Never in my life did I plant look this up.......there a first for everything
Such beautiful fruit honestly
It really is!
Sweet! Thank you.
Short and to the point🖒
Flat sides down when cutting is much easier, faster, and safer.
