      Favorite version of this song I can find. Don't know much on playing guitar, but I Greatly Aspire to sing and play this along with my Epiphone Les Paul 100! Someday, someday 🎉. Roll on you rockers with some soulin your Boo-tay!😮

    Far and away my favorite version of this song! The Last Waltz is a very close second. The entire band was on point here.

      Clapton had a fantastic version when he played with Gerry McGee in August 15th 1975 at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California. Unfortunately its not online anymore. They also had a fantastic version of Stormy Monday.

      I hate to oppose your opinion but the best version which is also a better recording and also live, is Joe Bonamassa and Eric at Royal Albert Hall celebrating Joe's first time there. One of his biggest dreams at the time was to play at the Royal with Eric. Great version. IMHO

      I.will say that ThE only White Who can SING It IS Eric.
      Even though THIS IS not his best versión. Try ThE one un Crossroads live in ThE 70's...or live in San Diego 2007....or many more , to hear unmatched singing

    This is the finest version of Further On Up The Road I ever heard Clapton do. A close second is the duo he did with Jeff Beck. Thanks for posting! Anybody know where/when this was recorded?

      I tend to agree, since The Band was incredible, but this one has the late, great Jamie Oldaker on drums. He passed away earlier this month, and he cannot be replaced!

      @@pabloperez4063 I doubt it....Clapton had horrible cheesy sounding synthesizers ruining a lot of his live shows then...with those awful haircuts and suits dressed up like a half-assed Robert Palmer....MTV....blah.....commercialized by top 40 schlockmeister Phil Collins...hard to believe he left the Yardbirds on the verge of commercial success to avoid being a pop star......yeah...he played great....but I couldn't stomach the trimmings....79 -83 his band was phenomenal....Albert Lee....1983 tour was awesome....I live eat breathe and sleep Clapton 1970-83....live and studio....bootlegs....unbelievable....yeah....From the Cradle and certain live blues jams I make exception....I'm sure he did play great on some mid eighties on blues....a lot of people don't want to say it...but he was on heroin for Derek and the Dominoes...and drunk for the rest of the decade into the early 80's.....and I'm sorry but that was his best period....

    This don't even sound like no damn blues...watered down...unemotional...too much rock...Clapton needs to go back and study the original...or at least study the Allman brothers...I get no feeling from this, and that's what the blues is about...Clapton can play all the right notes but it's still missing the mark.
