Can you do a video on the pros and cons of bare root? And why you don’t ship them that way?
Personally if I want a high quality low supply item I have already decided I will be paying more for shipping then I will for the product! I’m good with that
    Keep up the great content!

Thanks for the topic. I'll add it to the list. Bare root is generally more appropriate for large field-grown plants, and mine are grown in nursery pots through the whole cycle.

@@FraserValleyRoseFarm I only have 1 person I can trade rare rose rootings with and we have a method of shipping. I can tell you how we ship from Texas to Chicago in January. I used to have a garden with 150 roses

@@FraserValleyRoseFarm there are 3 people who send me cuttings (Chicago area) from Canada, Great Britian and China. They use Ebay (figures shipping) and Heat Packs.
They will send invoices through PayPal for larger orders.
Look on Ebay, That is where people look for Rare Flowers, Trees, Shrubs and Cuttings. One of them trims old flowers in cemeteries and estates then does cuttings. LOL!

@@FraserValleyRoseFarm You can also set up an Etsy store too.
      I forgot about that.
Look into adding SEO words to your stores and sites. Like Cuttings, roses, graph, propagating, David Austin ... for the rose addicted people to find you. Then we can refer people to you.
Plus, you'll increase traffic and that's what you want.

Hey how are the online sales and distribution working out in Canada? Favourite shipper? Love to hear more about your shipping experience.

I wish I could be more upbeat about it. We do it as a way to engage customers from across the country, but it's neither cheap nor easy. For longer distances (Quebec east) we have to use the express service, and that can put a box of roses into higher postage costs than the value of the roses. Even so, we've had cases where there's plants lost to stress, and we're refunding customers. I had a look at shiptime this spring, and it compares rates between major couriers - Canada Post still comes out the lowest price for that service speed.

No shipping to US ? Online store for rose plant isn't setup yet. Correct ? I'd love to shop if it is

The store is online now, but sorry no US shipping - I wish it were as easy, but to ship to US locations, there would be phytosanitary certificates for the import, I think, and maybe other customs requirements. Baby steps for me.

Is there any plants that gardeners should not be propagating, growing and selling? I was told certain plants are patented and can not be propagated or sold? (Other than Cannabis..) ..
Would love to know your thoughts. Don’t wish to find myself in Trouble. 🤪

If you're propagating for personal use, there's really not much to worry about. If you're selling plants, you should make sure you have the right to do so. Plants grown from seed are fair game, and you can divide or take cuttings from a seed-grown plant with no concerns. For anything you find in the garden center, you should try to figure out if it has a cultivar name. Google is a good resource for this. Search "Hydrangea little lamb patent" and your first result should be a summary of the patent status (patent granted in 2004). The breeder/discoverer/owner of the patent keeps the rights for 20 years, so after 2024 it's safe to say you can propagate that particular plant.

Thank you so much for this information. I was worried that I may be selling plants that I shouldn’t be., but turns out that I am not and can sell them without worry. Appreciate your time and advice. 🌱🙏🏻 Keep growing those beautiful roses! I am going to get to that peach rose by the old apple tree this year! Already clearing a path through the old raspberries and wild roses. 😍
