- Nissan 200SX with upgraded 3UZ Twin Turbo engine. This project, which has been built by MacTec Racing, is a street legal drift racing car with 1234 hp at the wheels and 1301 Nm of torque.
Built a year and a half ago as a personal project by the company’s owner it’s now moved onto one of his customers who plans to use it for drift practice and so it has been upgraded to full drift racing capability including specialist suspension, settings and drift handbrake.
MacTec Racing is one of the leading workshops in Thailand specialising in building extreme high-performance road and race cars.

That's really mad how capable that engine is but I don't understand what he s saying 😂
Jesus christ, I remember people complaining that the cylinder walls would crack between pistons on the 3uz due to the added bore size and less meat between the cylinders compared to the 1uz, but IG thats just bad tuning and both must be way more capable than thought.

What’s your advice for someone who wants to get started on getting some real power out of the 3uz where should I start first this is my first decently fast car and really looking forward to a turbo or supercharger setup
I'm the last person to ask really. I'm European, come to Asia and a JDM rookie. But would like to hear in the future what upgrades you do please.
Man I'd really need a build breakdown of this I'm looking into putting a turbo or turbos on mine but I need to understand what the block can handle what needs to be upgraded , so thorth. FYI its a automatic lexus
The guys from duluck that has the mk5 with the 3uz twin turbo said their engine makes 1100ish with rods Pistons head studs and main studs

Stock will make 1000hp with just head gaskets

My 2006 LS 430 has a 3UZ and the plan is to put a twin turbo on it hehehehehe. I hope it gets a sliver of the power you were able to make here

There have been a few examples already, but a lot of them don’t get the right ecu tuning. I have a gx470 with the 4.7l 2uz and plan to run a HARROP supercharger with 12psi of boost

Ok but how did you get that much power out of a 3 uz the most I thought you could make out of these was about 5-600 before it blows up
THE UZ CAN HOLD THE SAME POWER AS ITS BROTHER THE 2JZ .THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE UZ IS THAT THEY HAVE WEAKER RODS THE NEW THE ENGINE but if you get forged internals your set im in the progress of twin turboing my 1uz rx8 just waiting on the custom pistons
I mean the 3uz really shouldn't hold it, most of the forum posts I've seen on it said the cylinders crack due to the thinner cylinder walls compared to the early 1uz that could handle 1600+. Ig those were just tuning mistakes or this guy is about to need another block. I'd be curious to see how much hp the early 1uz non vvti rods can handle now with modern tuning considering people were making 7-800 on those when 600 was considered the reliability limit on 3uz's. Unless its just not meant to be reliable, then that makes total sense.
