I can’t remember this for sure since it’s been ages since I’ve read arc 5 but I do think that the current wives are innocent here. Mostly cuz he killed those women at some point. Of course, I might be forgetting it. But yeah his only “qualification” is looking pretty and essentially killing whatever personality they used to have by forcing them to only do what he wants. Eventually the horrible ppl will slip up and he will just kill them. The only way to survive is being as docile as possible and I don’t think a child killer or person who sold their bro into slavery would be capable of it. It says less about the girls here, and more about his standards lol

Theresia van Astrea was born with one Divine Protection; the Divine Protection of the Reaper. That is the DP which makes all wounds inflicted by her effectively permanent, as they will reopen when in close proximity to her. She obtained the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint towards the start of the Civil War in Lugunica (Demihuman War), when her uncle who served as the previous Sword Saint perished in battle. This made her automatically become the best swordswoman in the world, as well as a one-in-ten million case of someone possessing more than one Divine Protection; it was a deadly pair. She has lost the DP of the Sword Saint to Reinhard, so her reanimated self doesn’t have it anymore, but she does still have her original DP of the Reaper.
Yeah Reinhard is so broken he can basically phone God (Od Laguna) for new divine protections on the spot when he feels like he needs one. This includes the blessing of the phoenix, which resurrects him and is used up, but he can just get another one. Side note - Reinhard's kick was so perfect because he has a divine protection that makes all his projectile/thrown/launched attacks land. The door being the projectile, in this case.

At last, the greatest fight in all of Re:Zero is here! Regulus vs. Reinhard, Subaru, and Emilia 🔥 it might not be everyone's favorite fight, but it's the undisputed best fight in the entire series, hands down. The most powerful character in the entire series vs the Strongest Sin Archbishop of the Witch's cult. The ultimate battle of absolute offense to defense. They've built up Regulus to be this impossible wall of a villain to overcome, just to put him against Reinhard, setting up what's be the most epic clash in the entire series. Nobody has been able to push either of these two inhuman entities back before and now it's time for them to push each other and watch the spectacle unfold 🔥

All the other fights, I mean it's all up to peoples opinion, but overall, Regulus vs. Reinhard was the biggest single fight in the story to date. Also, with that certain Astrea, the issue with that is they never won lol they losing and retrying
4:20 I know it's been almost 4 years but Roswaal will burn into ash if he betrays them because of contract thing he have on his chest I believe. Still not saying you should believe him 100% but he can't do things that will harm Subaru or his friends that are in Emilia camp. This is shown in s2 at the end, I think last episode.
The pairings for the counter attack make so much sense. Reinhard literally cant work with anyone because he nerfs friends and foe just by being in proximity. So pairing with Subaru who cant use Beatrice (also the fact that Beatrice gave us this info in episode 2) but still has a strategic/die and go again mind works well.
I think Reinhardt might have a double digit IQ, he seems to have no clue how to do anything that he doesn’t have a divine protection for and needs to be asked in order to realize he should use it. He gets destroyed in arguments. Can’t defend people all that well, as he even let his drunk dad take his princess hostage and needed a bug 🪳 to save him! Which makes him perfect for Subaru! Cause everytime Rienhardt fucks up and gets Subaru killed, Subaru can just try again and give Reinhardt better directions next loop.
