@berosar LOL let's get the facts straight. RDA was 35 and had been fighting something like 15 years when he faced Colby. He has been 4-6 since that fight. Tyron was 38 and on a 2 fight losing streak, and would go on to lose 3 more if you include the boxing matches against Paul, a youtuber with no experience. Robbie was 37 at the very end of his rope, 1-3 in his last 4 leading up to the Colby fight. He would go on to lose more before retiring. Colby is a good fighter, but he beat all the guys I listed when they were slowing down signifantly or outright done. Truth hurts doesn't it? He also had 8+ top 5 wins which I believe was a record for a time, and that doesn’t include all the guys he beat that would later go on to be in the top 5 (Olyenik, Babalu etc.). Anik and chael said the same thing about khamzat after he beat burns “main event vs Colby” but we know colby ducked khamzat he absolutely gonna duck shavkat just like he did khamzat he knows he gets outgrsppled and out struck badly
I said this for years when people were telling me how dominant this guy was- he ducks all real competition and handpicks easy matchups. Its easy to dominate against washed strikers with no wrestling ( woodley was coming off like 45 losses in a row). There is a reason the UFC literally couldnt get a hold of him for close to a year when they were trying to set up khazmat. This guy is a coward, doesnt even write his own lines, and is the most overrated fighter in the history of the sport.
Exactly. People who really know what they’re looking at knew that narrative was BS. Colby’s timid approach in the fight with Leon told me what I knew for years- this guy was not going to look dominant against other fighters in their primes. It was already proved when he ran into the wall that was Usman. It’s why he was afraid to unify his interim title with Tyron Woodley before the verdict was out that Tyron was washed (and lost the only matchup where it was at least possible to win the championship) . It’s why he avoided fighting guys like Usman and Leon (who both called him out prior to winning the belt) when they were contenders and ducked the rest of the actual contenders in the division. It’s why he only fights washed veterans and sits and waits for title shots. He’s absolutely a fraud.
people talk about 'pressure' but you have to get into boxing range to pressure Leon and he'll counter you, some of these delusional Colby fans acted like Leon immediately melts under pressure as if it wasn't something Usman already heavily implemented
I think what Leon did to Colby was worse than if he would have KO'd him. Colby's entire career is derailed now, he got absolutely dominated and had the crowd turn on him after the fight. His reputation is destroyed. No one will want to pay to see him again. Getting Ko'd, people will just say he got caught and that's what happens. but getting dominated? that ruins all of his future plans.
It's not what Leon did to Colby, it is what Colby did. Leon sucked, he had amazing accuracy, power and precision, he had great ringmanship and great skill and fought against a timid Colby, yet he could not capitalize on anything, he didn't follow up on anything, it was the most boring fight I ever seen. Colby absolutely sucked, he didn't lose the fans because of Leon, he lost his fans because of himself, he just stood there taking leg kicks and did absolutely nothing. He talked all the talk that he was gonna step on the pedal and run him over, but when it came to the fight, he did nothing. Most boring fight ever.
I grew up loving UFC from the beginning but this is a sad day. I think Colby Covington as good of fighter he is bad for the UFC. I understanding selling the fight and maintaining that edge but what he said about Leon Edwards dad was completely out of line. MMA was about celebrating different fighting styles and cultures. I remember I would be happy just witnessing the awesome level of competition before and that was enough. I hope it goes back to that cause whatever this is, its not it. First time I purposely did not watch the fight smh

Colby's last 3 wins are against guys who are currently retired. Having him in a title eliminator or letting him hold the division up any further after a performance like that at 35 (36 by his next fight) is laughable
Stop scratching your heads people, Colby was NEVER that great. He grinded out some decision victories against a couple of known guys, the rest of the victories were cans, and lost to everyone else. Got a sweetheart matchup for his interim. And somehow everyone thinks he's god-tier.
Why not give Belal a shot at the title? Colby haven't fought in how long(2yrs)…and comes back with a title shot. Belal has been here grinding and can only get "Friendly Mentions"...
He completely misunderstood what Chael said. That’s why Chael corrected him and he changed his response… Chael was heavily critical of Colby tonight at the analyst table. Farthest thing from a fanboy.
It's tough envisioning a scenario where Colby is incentivized to fight a prospect like Rakhmonov knowing how much of a risk it is when his title opportunities are likely over.
It’s a BIG risk, but it probably puts Colby quite close to yet another chance if he beats Shavkhat. I don’t like Colby at all I think he’s a waste of oxygen but if I were in his shoes, and if he’s truly about it, that’s the road he needs to take. He would silence a lot of people if he beat Shavkhat.
Colby can still fight, just not the top guys anymore. No shame in that. Plenty of guys making a living in the ufc that are not fighting for a championship. It's up to him if that is good enough for him or if he wants to retire. Its his business.
Belal vs. Leon should be next, I know people dont like Belal but he is due for a title fight. Then Colby vs. Shavkat, time to feed Colby to the rising stars if he still up for the challenge that he deserve a high rank.
colby vs dustin is the fight to make they’re both in the same situation they wanna fight top ranked opponent but simply just aren’t that good anymore🤷🏾♂️
Colby and tony are done....and the fans are done with him too. One can't talk that amount of bad trash talking and then perform as slow and old as he did. (maybe create a "dumbest clown belt and have Colby and Tony fight for it)
Like father like son. Sonnen lost 3 title fights, Colby lost 3 title fights. Neither of them deserve their rematches and use their mouths to skip the rankings
We all knew colby didn't deserve this, he does NOT have a successful track record against top competition in the past 4 to 5 years, it's just the reality.. plus a two year LOA is not easy to over come for a fighter, it just was what it was
1:35 Chael is such a toolbox… Usman beat Masvidal TWICE before Colby fought Masvidal. Usman was the BMF that Colby never beat. Colby is a top 5 fighter. A solid fighter. He will never be a champion though.
Colby’s career exactly mirrors chaels unironically and I wouldn’t be surprised if he only fights 2 more times and calls it a day. Khamzat Dustin Sean and Belal are the only fights that make sense for him stylistically speaking and even tension wise however we all know he probably won’t fight any of them(maybe Belal if he’s denied a title shot)
Don’t understand the criticism of Leon from Joe or anyone after that at all. Has now dominated the number 1 and 2 best wrestlers in the hardest div in the hardest promotion. Kept emotions cool despite everything, which shows he’s a true champ

Colby needs to go to 155. Leon was way too big for him. Probably close to 200lbs in the fight. Colby was maybe 175lbs. Honestly wasn't even a fair fight and thats Colbys fault. Gotta cut that weight.

It was literally Kim's last fight of a 20-plus year career if you count his yu-do days, or 13 years just MMA. Maia was 41 and had been fighting for nearly 20 years. Colby is a good fighter, but he beat all the guys I listed when they were slowing down signifantly or outright done. Truth hurts doesn't it? Leon made the Colby fans cry again, and likely finished his career at the top for good. He's going back to fighting old guys like Wonderboy now, because he knows Shavkat will run him over.
@@dnam727 and who has Leon beat? Eye picked Belal and doesn’t want to fight him again, says no to Belal/MVP/Rahkmad. Didn’t even want to fight Colby after winning the belt by luck. @@Fatdecember meh. wasnt real finish just woodley was on his deathbed, career wise
@@AIAudiobooks411 A win is a win 🤷♂️
Chael “Colby was never my friend” Sonnen
He’s known Colby since he was 15-16. Maybe even younger. Doesn’t mean he can’t be critical.
Common man Colby was asking for it when he commented on the dad. You simply can't support your friend if they're going down on the wrong path.
Leon looked so much bigger and faster than Colby. He completely outclassed him.
I never wanted to pay to see him in the first place.
