I covered this and the whole AI thing in depth in a reply to another comment which I can copy and paste below but a shorter answer would be to say that it's not as simple as saying it is or isn't AI generated. I do use AI tools to help expand and speed up the process yes, but there's a bit more to it and it's not quite as black and white as a lot of people make it out to be. Here's the answer "I think it's really interesting that a lot of people seem to have this idea of not being allowed to enjoy anything related to AI for some reason. idk how familiar most of you are with music production but AI in music is a lot more complex than you'd think and there are a lot of ways of using these tools while still being original in my opinion, which I assume is one of the main concerns of people. In my humble opinion thinking that music can only ever be either "AI-generated" OR "human-made" is lacking any sort of nuance and doesn't do the whole conversation about AI and "originality" as a whole any justice. I've been making music for little over 10 years now and for the last 7-8 years or so making beats has been my full-time job. I can think of tons of examples where the general public wouldn't even think twice about calling something "real" art and even praise the artist without ever questioning the origin of the music, simply because they know little to nothing about music production and the industry as a whole. It's only now that AI has become a thing when people all of a sudden started applying what feels like this arbitrary standard of what's original (and ethical) and what isn't. It seems like people demand that everything that involves any sort of use of generative AI tools needs to be labelled as AI generated music which feels very binary and naive and it completely disregards every possible way of using it that goes beyond the commonly known "push a button and get song" method. What if someone makes 16 bars from scratch featuring a whole bunch of elements like drums, bass, some chords, maybe some ear candy or whatever and instead of arranging the whole thing with the tracks you already have as you usually would, upload it to suno or udio and have them extend the track and maybe even get some additional instruments in there that would take forever to do authentically in midi (e.g. trumpets, guitar solos). Is the result of that AI music, is it human-made and original or is it somewhere in between? I don't know the answer to that and to be honest with you it doesn't matter to me, I just feel like it's a bit hypocritical to act like you can only enjoy music knowing 100% who or what it was made by. Anyway, whatever you think the answer to that question may be though, I put a lot of manual labor and effort into every single track and collection, using the skills I acquired over the course of 10 years in areas like sound design, production, mixing & mastering, to create something most people can't, not because I'm special in any way, but because you can't replace human intelligence (yet lol) and the experience from doing something for a very long time. If after all this you still genuinely feel like any sort of AI use is unethical or simply not real art, then this channel is probably not for you because I have no issue with using new tools and technologies to help expand and speed up my creative process. The only goal here is to make as much good music as possible, maybe help some people with whatever they're dealing with along the way, and create a nice environment for people to come together and enjoy these collections for what they are, art."
@@homealoneagain. I feel that the general concern over AI is specifically generative AI. AI with unethically scraped sources is what is bad. There are tons of not gen-AI resources that folks have used for a while now. It's in medical facilities and photoshop brushes etc etc. So I suppose that would be the follow up question: do you use generative AI in the creation of your music? I appreciate you weighing in - as a lofi enjoyer, it has been a real bummer to learn how many folks use gen-AI and then call it theirs. All art is derivative yadda yadda but credit where it's due is super important, I would think you as an artist would agree, and I am curious as to the degree gen-AI has spread in the music community here on youtube.
@@workmusiclofi7644 @workmusiclofi7644 Man I really don't wanna make these long ass responses a habit lol, but I think it's important to put things into context. To answer your question very briefly though - yes I do use generative AI, like I said in the reply above. With that being said, if generative AI is people's main concern I personally feel it's a bit misplaced. For example I think people putting out music using the names and voice models of established artists are a way bigger threat to the individual artist and the industry as a whole, because it specifically aims to exploit something people only used to get from this very specific brand and art that this person and the label have built their livelihood on. However I probably would agree that there is a more ethical way of building and developing the tech of generative AI, specifically when it comes to the sourcing of the database that the tech is trained on, although I don't know how scalable that would be at this point in time and if it's too late for that. In an ideal world though these companies probably would at least have to get the copyright owners approval, maybe even pay licenseeing fees and generally just include actual artists in the conversation instead of cutting them out entirely. Personally I don't really care whether my music has been used to train a generative AI model or not though, generative AI in music is not at a point yet where you can simply recreate and anticipate every single step of the musical process that makes your music sound like your music in the first place. On top of that being a (financially) successful musician goes so far beyond just making good music and the fact that more people now are able to just put out music because they can generate it doesn't mean everyone who made/makes music "legitimately" (whatever that means) is gonna lose anything. It's not a zero-sum game, it doesn't take one person to lose in order for another to win, it's just more people winning. There are so many other simple day to day problems that directly affect your livelihood as a producer/artist and random people being able to generate music and calling themselves artists now is pretty far down that list for me personally.
Working remotely at home (alone) on a sunny evening, drinking some fine German Helles beer straight from the bottle (don't blame me!) and listening to this. I'm fine with this.

@@homealoneagain. I just read you comment you explaining your method on this, explains the tempo you create beats, I mean thats not easy, even after 10 years. From idea to output you still compose the arrangement I presume and ai helps you to get it harmonic? I wonder where your samples come from, or you let AI input midi in vst? You are totally right about the fact people being hypocrite if they don't embrace new and original music, whenever made by human or ai, or collab.
