- Bonjour, welcome to learn French with Escargot!
Get ready to learn 60 useful expressions in French. Whether you're new to French or want to enhance your skills, this video can help you expand your vocabulary and improve your listening and communication.
For each expression, I give you an example in context. I repeat each sentence 3 times, at different speed (slow to natural pace).
Note:
For some expressions which are correct in a textbook but too formal for spoken French, or only use in written form, I give you example on how we really say it.
So if you see "tu" becoming "t'", keep in mind that despite being used in spoken French, it is not correct at the written form, only use it with friends.
Example: Tu as faim ? becomes T'as faim ?
For the negative form also, ne.....pas, we often drop "ne" in spoken French.
Je ne suis pas venu hier soir. becomes Je suis pas venu hier soir.
Hope you will like it and thank you for watching.

Excellent idea to include the relevant liaisons. So helpful when learning how to speak everyday French. Don't know how many times I've read about people who studied French for years and when they got to France they couldn't understand what was being said because they were unfamiliar with the concept of liaisons and enchainment. Well done
Thank you for your message. Indeed, liaisons are important to assimilate when you learn French. As you say, you can have surprises when you come to France if you are unfamiliar with the concept, even if you learn the language for many years.
The same goes for written French (learn in textbooks, class…) versus spoken French. We often use contractions, slang, and informal expressions when we talk.
For example, if learn this in a textbook:
Nous avons beaucoup de travail ce soir.- We have a lot of work tonight. (formal)
But then you are clueless when you hear French people saying:
On a beaucoup de taf ce soir. - We have a lot of work tonight. (informal)
My next video will be on this topic, written French Vs spoken French. 😊
Thanks for the reply. I very much look forward to your forthcoming video on this topic.

Thank you for your comment, interesting what you said, as a native speaker I don't notice that, good to know 😊
