I wouldn't say that's necessarily true. As I am an Aboriginal helicopter pilot in Canada and make very very good money and life is not complicated at all in that aspect. Life is absolutely great. I think life in Canada is more difficult for middle Eastern people in general.
Loved everything you said. I agree 1000% Canada thinks its the best and does not want to improve. every time I tell people I'm from the Middle East and am leaving Vancouver to move back, they look at me with so much sympathy as if im walking into a horrendous place not realizing that they are the ones living in the disastrous place.
CANADA IS GOOD IN GOOD EARNINGS BUT IN DUBAI SALARY THE ONLY DIFFERENCE DUBAI HAVE SO MANY ENTERTAINMENTS...IF U LOOK FOR PERSONAL HAPPINESS ONLY NOT ON FUTURE FINANCIAL STABILITY THEN U CAN GO IN THE DUBAI..
Race, gender, and money have a much higher impact on your life if you live in Dubai. The other factor is your original citizenship. For someone NOT coming from a "first world" country, Dubai is a very risky option since your plan B would be to go back and live in Basrah-Iraq, not Vancouver-Canada. There are no safety nets and permanent residency options.
A very interesting take that resonated with me. Thank you for sharing. I'm from England but have been living overseas (mainly in Saudi Arabia) for over a decade. As an expat working in Saudi, I certainly get fewer working rights than I would in my home nation, but prefer working here. Of course, the tax-free benefits play a large part in this. However, there are other forces at play too. For example, the workplace culture feels different as all expats are on contracts and thus feel less entitled. We simply get on with the tasks/project. Colleagues are a lot less likely to talk politics (whether that be office or governmental) too. In short, having fewer "worker's rights" in exchange for a more dynamic working environment, less politics and more benefits (tax, salary etc) seems like a fair trade-off for me. Keep the vlogs coming!
OF COURSE CANADA IS A GREENER PASTURE REMUNERATION FOR US ASIANS...ARAB COUNTRIES TREAT WHITE PEOPLE ABOVE OVER OTHER NATIONALITIES THAT'S WHY THEIR SALARIES EXPECTED TO BE HIGH THAN ASIAN PROFESSIONALS...I'D WORKED IN DUBAI BUT YOU KNOW I HEARD A LOT OF DRINKING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND ENTERTAINMENT...IF U CHOOSE MORE ON PERSONAL LIFE DUBAI IS BETTER BUT IF U LOOK FOR FUTURE FINANCIAL STABILITY GO FOR CANADA SPECALLY WE FILIPINOS. I WE WORKED 15 YEARS MORE IN MIDDLE EAST BUT THE STATUS OF QUALIYU LIFE LIVING IS FAR FROM THOSE FILIPINOS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHOSE SIBLINGS WORKED IN EUROPE, AMERICA OR CANADA ETC. THAT;'S WHY A LOT OF ASIAN WORKERS FROM ARAB COUNTRIES MIGRATED TO CANADA, POLAND, NEW ZEALAND ETC. BUT NOT DUBAI.....IN OUR CASE ASIAN CITIZENS OR FILIPINOS DUBAI IS JUST AN ORDINARY OPEN COUNTRY JUST LIKE PHILIPPINES BUT FOR WHITE PEOPLE DUBAI IS BETTER FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE TREATED FIRST CLASS CITIZENS IN ARAB COUNTRIES AND ARABS HAVE HIGH IMPRESSIONS TO THEM YOU CAN NEVER HEARD WHITE PEOPLE FROM EUROPE AND AMERICA WERE SLAVES IN ARAB COUNTRIES AND HAD THEIR WOMEN WORKERS RAPED...AND THEIR SALARIES ARE HIGH REAL TALK THAN US ASIANS U CAN NOT GENERALIZE WHIC IS BETTER OVER THE OTHER IT DEPENDS ON RACE, CULTURE AND EDUCATION AS WELL...
BECAUSE AMERICANS AND EUROPEANS HAVE HIGHER BASIC SALARIES THAN ASIAN WORKERS / FILIPINOS...WE ASIANS PREFER TO WORK IN EUROPE, CANADA, NEW ZEALAND, ETC. EVEN HAVE TAXES STILL OUR NET PAY IS STILL HIGHER THAN MIDDLE EAST WHICH OUR SALARY IS ONLY AVERAGE IN MIDDLE EAST...ARAB GOVERNMENT AND ITS PEOPLE HAVE HIGH IMPRESSIONS TO WHITE PEOPLE THAN ASIANS THAT'S WHY THEIR BASI SALARIES ARE HIGHER THAN US ASIANS... IF WE HAVE HIGH SALARIES IN AN ARAB COUNTRIES THEN WHY WE PLAN TO MIGRATE IN CANADA TO WORK OR IN ANOTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES?????????...CHOOSING DUBAI AND OTHER COUNTRIES THAN CANADA ARE FOR WHITE PEOPLE''S PREFERENCE BECAUSE NO TAX THEN BASIC SALARY IS ALREADY HIGH...THAT'S IT IN OUR CASE ASIANS NEVER!..
When you say fewer working rights what do you actually mean? Abuse in the workplace I would not substitute or define as a dynamic working environment. I think the two go hand-in-hand working rights and work environments that is.
Interesting observations "workplace culture feels different as all expats are on contracts and thus feel less entitled. We simply get on with the tasks/project"
So true. I lived in Dubai, US and then Canada (almost 2 decades now) what I don't get is Canada thinks they are already the best as opposed to be striving to be the best!
@panktislifestyle2354 This is based on individuals education and work experience, citizenshop and current wealth level. There is not a single country that is the best for everyone. (Eg) if you were born as a Aboriginal Citizen of Qutar, you would be better off than anyone else as an AVARAGE person. This changes if you are in the top 10% in any country. Taxes = some benefits. No Taxes = better earning, but NO benefits. After living in Canada for over 42 yrs I can say that currently Canada is messed up, thanks to our MLA' and M.P.'s. I have visited & have connections in many many countries, there is always some pros, and cons to every country. Comes downs to individuals' personal needs, desire and satisfaction.
Thanks so much for making this video. I connected with pretty much everything you said. I'm from Canada myself and after a (recent) devastating job loss that came very suddenly and unexpectedly, I find myself seriously considering other options outside of Canada. Dubai has been on my radar for quite some time and to hear the perspective of a fellow Canadian is definitely reassuring. The way you described being oppressed in Canada is a feeling I've been experiencing lately. I grew up in Canada and generally like it here, but I'm getting to a point where I feel like I'm limiting myself and there may be much more out there for me. I have a fairly diverse professional background and also happen to speak Arabic, so my hope is that someone like me who is fluent in both English and Arabic might have good opportunities to look forward to in a place like Dubai. I do have my reservations and fears of leaving everything behind and moving to a new country to start over, so my plan is to visit Dubai first before considering taking such a big and courageous leap. On that note, are there any specific areas in Dubai that you think are worth visiting as a tourist and settling in when making the move?
You're welcome As for specific areas. Depends a lot on what you're looking for, budget, etc. Marina and business bay are popular if you're going for apartment living but it's a huge city so tons of options most people don't even know exist
I'm a Canadian, I have visited many countries & cities around the world including Dubai in UAE. My suggestion is go as a person seeking and looking for information to settle, not as a tourist. Being a tourist VS. being a local are completely two different things in any city or country. I have been to many cities where I loved it as a tourist, but not as person who has to earn a living there. Dubai is super attractive and beautiful. For professionals it's an ideal city, it would be great, but completely opposite as a labour class. Never make decisions based on tourist attractions. Good luck. I would love to visit Dubai again.
This is a VERY interesting analogy - and it reflects how I feel in Dubai. You are the client. You are expected to pay (obviously), but you are the centre of what is going on, not always as individual, but as a group. One other thing in here is that one can argue all about "absolute monarchy" vs. "democracy", except I am not really seeing the democratic part these days in large parts of Europe. A group of insane people have run over politics, put demands on the general population and some of the rulers seem to take a page or a whole chapter out of the playbook of the worst dictator you can get. Do a degree that even the EU was quite brutal in criticism of Trudeau. A serious degree I have never seen before. On the other hand, Dubai is really a place where culture (with rules) are still a thing. Now, obviously - as you say - my point of view is a little filtered by being quite on top of the food chain, but I had a lot of talks with people here working (like hotel staff) about working and living conditions and I generally always got the same back: "oh, you are german, amazing, you have such a nice unemployment system". THAT changed, though, the moment I told them about the amount of taxes and social security to pay - generally a "no way, this is ridiculous" was the result. I grew up as a very strong proponent of democracies. Free speech. These days - I am done. Free speech turned into the mob of uninformed retards crying down any discussion and a democracy is the rule of the mob for more free stuff. No continuity, no responsibility. No way - thanks. I rather am not involved in the politics and a good client of a country that CARES about it's future (because, let's face it, it is not like the "legacy democracies" are going to have a lot of future the way they are going now).
You have a point...but wait till you or the staff runs into a spoiled brat sheikh and see what can happen to you...no one is taken to be tortured in Germany etc...and you have the privilege of the passport...dignity is better than money...

Most of the south Asians or people coming from poor countries to dubai or uae, love it here. Its just that they don't want to retire in their own countries even if they arent retiring with a fortune. That only point leads them to move to places like canada, usa, australia, etc. Other than that i am born and raised in this country UAE and living here since 38 years. After travelling reasonably to some countries i find there is no other country atleast I know which provides the quality life that UAE does. Even people moving to canada from uae mostly look forward to returning back after getting a passport. Blunt it may sound but that's my 1 cent.
I am from Russia, I lived in Dubai and after moved to Canada. I was shocked about Hastings street in Van, I couldn’t believe something like this can exist esp. in such a country.
Don't be so shocked, even back in 1800s Toronto, Scottish and Irish Protestants made the Irish Catholics live in slums and they ended up being degenerate alcoholics.
I would say that, from the perspective of a high earner, Dubai has the potential to offer more than Canada. This is why I am largely considering leaving Canada at the moment. When tax rates hit 50% of earnings, why even bother attempting to earn more. Talk about feeling oppressed by my government.
@@Deira854 IN Canada, 1.5 million Canadians are using food banks now, in a country with supposedly a lot of wealth. While the Prime Minister vacations in Jamaica at a resort costing $9000 a night and his "charity" family Foundation has at least a billion dollars in it.
You are so right, the socialized health care system in Canada is collapsing and Canadian seniors are being treated like disposable items thrown into nursing homes with deplorable conditions
DUBAI OFFERS LOW SALARY FOR PROFESSIONALS THAN CANADA THAT'S WHY LOVE CANADA....WHITE PEOPLE ONLY HAS A HIGHER SALARY BUT FOR ASI LIKE ME LOW SALARY IN DUBAI...THE GUY IN THE VIDEO IS TALKING ON PERSONAL ENTERTAINMENT.
I know this from personal experience with my mother being placed in a "home" after a stroke because she was told she wouldn't be allowed to stay at her own home. I've seen some horrid care homes for seniors which would shock most people from Asian countries.
That type of poverty in Canada is a result of drugs. There are social safety nets for people that follow the rules. Presumably it is more difficult to access drugs in Dubai which would make a huge difference.
But never even saw one homeless in Dubai, yet one city in Canada will have thousands. In Dubai, almost everyone even the people earning low can save money, that is not the case in Canada anymore
Yes - right beside the police station east or west on hastings at main its very bad and very sad. PENSION? because I was a contractor/business owner most of my life I have $11,500 / per year to live on. That would be difficult in a tent - never mind paying rent in Vancouver and surrounding boroughs.
@@jimmybeans7402 Not only that. If you leave Canada, you get 25% withholding tax on your pension, and you do not qualify for GIS. Only solution, move out to the boonies!
@@torontovoice1 Moving out to a smaller town won't even save you, the cost of living and inflation are getting bad now and many of the retired and elderly are beginning to crumble, their savings depleted and their pensions can't even keep up. I read that a 72 year old woman in BC was forced to live in her truck because things became so expensive she couldn't afford the rent if she wanted to afford food.
I’m Middle Eastern and my family came here to Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 from Jordan 🇯🇴 in 1968 for a better life. And with things going on right now with our social system, financial system, bank freezes etc. I want to go back to the Middle East for a better life. Because I know that they don’t play into this woke propaganda. 😢
This is why the best thing to do is to work in Dubai and use Canada as a safety net when you hit retirement and have no where better to go. If you could send the wife and kids over to Canada for couple of years while you work in Dubai and earn tax free money that might give you an even bigger boost to your savings. You would save on living expenses and education cost, the kids get free education in Canada and the wife would receive a very generous monthly child benefit and in many situations grants to do higher education at the cost of Canadian tax payers. I’ve met immigrants and citizens who were given grants for almost 20k just because the wife is alone in Canada and claimed no income.
There is no such thing as "free" education or healthcare in Canada, you might not have to pay upfront but you will pay for it down the line. Most people have the pay for education at the university level or above unless you earn scholarships(not open to non citizens), there are subsidies for the very poor. The Healthcare is crap, the waiting times in the hospital emergency rooms can be up to 12 hours, if you're not critically ill. Some days ambulances are not even available and this is in most of the major cities in Canada. Some people think Canadians are stupid and we'll simply pay for anyone coming here but social situation is deteriorating and many legal immigrants are also leaving once they get their citizenship.
I agree with many of your points, BUT I think if you look at working conditions for the Bangladeshi or Indian construction workers in Dubai you would be hard pressed to find anything comparable in Canada. Also, The people on hastings street are there because of trauma/drug addictions, and there are opportunities for them to get off the streets if they choose to.
@@crossroads670 They make more money in Dubai than they ever could in India and Bangladesh and they have large families back home that depend on this Dubai income. Taking their passports from them is wrong but let's not get carried away.
Thanks for the info, very helpful me taking decision on moving to Dubai for work. I am a Canadian and paying taxes is never ending story, and another point to add on your feedback is that if you are Canadian Citizen workng in Dubai, You get paid double or triple the salary what people from other countries get paid ..for eg: India, Bangladesh etc
Looks favourable from your side. Less favourable for the guy from India, Bangladesh , Philippines, etc who works equally as hard as you do and may have the same educational level as you do.
I know many people in high tech that have moved to Abu Dhabi and there quality of life is super high, but if you come in to the uae as a worker for more basic jobs there are still huge problems. Many of these works form poor Asian nations need the money to help there families back in there home country, during covid many of these works weren't payed for months.
In recent years, millions of Europeans have moved to Dubai. lol I saw more Europeans in Dubai, then some of the cities in Canada where population are totally Indians or Chinese
@@Deira854 Many Chinese and Indians here are leaving because the social conditions and the economy is deteriorating rapidly and the political system has become openly authoritarian.
@@glenyoung1809 you talked like a l.o.s.e.r, I saw many people complaint their countries, but one point is no one is successful, theu struggle and blame their countries lol
A comparison that is also applicable to any country in the western world vs developing countries that don’t have slimy politicians running for office by offering “groups” other people’s money.
I think that the fact that you as a well off westerner living in Dubai, don't understand the misery and deprivation or abuses that migrant workers from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa who do all of the dirty work in Dubai experience on an ongoing basis speaks volumes about how insular your expat bubble is within the Emirate. There are horrendous situations a lot of people face in a lot of countries. Democracies tend to do a poorer job of hiding them than autocracies. Just because you are blind to the deprivations, doesn't mean they don't exist.
Thank you for that nice comparative analysis. Most people are focusing on “yEaH yOu cAn pArTy aNd dRiNk aLcOhOl iTs sO cOoL cOmE tO dUbAi”. Really appreciate the sober review
What you’re describing are “soft freedoms” that are based in the simple reality that the “purchase decision” is the only meaningful freedom. Picking which scum bag politician should lord over us is not a freedom, it’s an imposition (or future imposition) if you don’t belong to the right interest group.
You forgot to mention a very important thing about your nationality; because you are Canadian you will be offered a good job and a good salary in Dubai, however, someone with a least weak passport with the same capabilities will be offered a lower salary. No hate just stating facts.
Both places have pros and cons and you are entitled to what you think is the best. I do very very well in Canada as a worker and a Aboriginal helicopter pilot. It is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. And it has beauties and places that are unmatched. That Dubai could never have. But with that comes things like homelessness in SOME areas like big cities. Where smaller populations homelessness almost doesn't exist. Almost every country has this and to say that Dubai does not is absolutely not true. Canada's work rules and labor rules are more stringent and protect the worker more. in Dubai labor rules are almost non-existent and some of the hard laborers live and work in almost deplorable conditions in the heat every day. I think Canada is a hard place to live for a lot of middle Eastern people because I think language is a barrier. I also think religion could also be a barrier. There is also the problem that middle Eastern people may not get the best jobs in Canada because of this. I love Canada. My life here is awesome. I make good money and have nice things, and good friends, and as long as I have that I am happy, if you are saying you live in the top 1% of earners then this video should not have any application to the normal person anyway. Because your opinions are so far out of reach for regular people it wouldn't matter anyway. Your opinion comes from you as somebody who's wealthy, so you already don't see the world as normal people see it. I think a lot of people come to Canada thinking that they are going to make a lot of money, because that's what Canada's portrayed as. But what's not being said is you have to have skills and talent as a worker coming here. And those skills and talent have to be much higher than other countries. So people are coming here with no skills and no talent in the workforce, thinking they're going to make lots of money, and have to start all over again from scratch. And some people just simply give up and leave. But for Canadians born here like myself I guess it's just easier
Did you know the 1% in Canada starts at only slightly over $200k/yr? People have some weird idea about what it means to be 1% not considering that if you live in any western developed country you're probably in the top 1% globally
@@OffshoreCitizen that is something I actually did not know. When I hear top 1%, I think of millionaires. Thank you for clarifying that. What you said actually makes sense. I wasn't trying to be rude in my previous comment.
@@OffshoreCitizen That's the big misconception of people who have never lived in Canada, the streets aren't paved with gold and most people have moderate incomes, many barely make enough to pay the bills and their salaries would be considered in the top 1% of their own countries. Also Canada has a high tax rate which saps the ability for anyone to be able to afford anything. Young people here can't even afford a place of their own unless they're dual income couples both with very well paying jobs, house prices are through the roof in almost every large city and many towns in Canada. Vancouver and Toronto's "middle class" housing is north of $1,000,000! and our social systems don't take care of the elderly who are many times priced out of their own homes!
If you have money there is no better place to live other than that which has every thing “just there” literally so ease in life and full of convenience. Western world is good for poor people and they only difference is dubai don’t treat horses and donkey the same. You can only understand when you become a horse with your hard effort then you can feel the difference
As a Pakistani, i would say Dubai is too hot n Canada...It has snow..n thank goodness!.No sun. If you've experiences the hot, burning sunny weather, you would not say that.
@@OffshoreCitizen I could not add any more value than you have already said. Its an acute observation to recognise that a democracy does not necessarily protect or correlate with individual freedoms. Quite frankly the whole voting and investing time in democratic politics could be better spent on higher value tasks.
You’re only talking with emotions towards your experience in Dubai. But in reality, there is a immense gap between what you describe and what’s really there
Thanks for the valuable Video! I am Algerian, I do Ecom at 6 figures Profit level.. & am thinking about moving to Canada.. Because In 5 years I can Get a passport.. But I sometimes say I can Just go to dubai, save the money and buy a passport for like 100k to Travel. I really don't know what to choose... They say Canada is good for settling! Dubai is just somewhere You can never call home. Rather somewhere You can go to do business profit greatly and go home. What's Your thoughts on that?
Canadian passport is definitely better than what you'll buy for that price but there are trade offs. Send us a, message through www.offshorecitizen.net to discuss
Every point you wrote is very well. Do you want to settle in Canada? Do you want to be a temporary person in Dubai? Do you want voting rights in the future? Things are very hard in Canada currently, but it can be a permanent settlement. In Dubai/ UAE you can earn tax free money. No permanent settlement. Every person I know who was in Dubai for 20 to 30+ years ended up retirement back in thier own country. You have to decide weather short term or long term goals. I loved Dubai as a tourist, one of my most Favorite places. But home is Canada for me. Both places have pros and cons. If you are a young professional, you will be better off in Dubai on short term 5 to 15 years. In Canada, after struggling for about 5 years, you will be better off in the long run. Everyone has their own desires, needs, satisfaction and goals.
@@OffshoreCitizen Canada, yes (from US) but not Dubai. I dont actually care for massive cities/lack of nature, and as solo outspoken female, I remain hesitant about going to Middle Eastern nations in general…. which is actually a topic I would appreciate being more informed about in regards to specific countries like UAE/Dubai.
I know the feeling. I worked in Muscat for a year and a half. Of course not as complex and sophisticated, but was very well treated (even though I was there just as an expatriate airline captain, part of an ACMI wet lease package for Oman Air). Now how about the other emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah and/or Fujairah? Same vibes? Thanks.
Many well made points and I agree with many of your sentiments. Calgarian here: Theoretically Dubai is an absolute monarchy, theoretically Canada is a democracy. During and shortly after the "bug", Canada was more like an absolute monarchy while Dubai seemed to maintain a level of respect for individual rights. For those who didn't live here through that period in Canada they wouldn't understand why the trucker protest started and was ruthlessly crushed by the government. I have friends from the Middle East who studied here and were thoroughly shocked by the authoritarianism of the government in recent years, they were even more shocked at the level of indoctrination and political correctness in society they never knew existed. One Saudi student mentioned that as religiously strict as SA was, it's government would never have locked down the population and imposed the level of restrictions that Canada imposed on it's citizens.Canada had the 10th most restrictive lockdowns in the world at the time. Your feeling about being a resource to be exploited in Canada is correct, look at the government programs being instituted in Canada and people from other countries would be deeply shocked. One such is MAiD(Medical Assistance in Dying) essentially state sponsored euthanasia, which they have loosened the rules for and is now broadly accepting of all "applicants". In 2021, 10000 Canadians used MAiD to commit legal suicide and many(most) were not terminally ill! This is the level Canada has fallen to under the present government and it's worsening. It's ironic that my parents fled Mao's take over of China in the 1950s to Canada believing that authoritarianism couldn't possibly take over there, how wrong they were. I wish I could leave now but I'm 60 so there is no chance at real employment in places like Dubai and I don't have much in the way of savings left after taking care of my parents (the "free" socialized health care in Canada is an illusion but the 20-30% tax rate on everyone is real) except for a house. If only I were 30 years younger... Things are deteriorating in Canada, many of the politicians are openly far left, and they've gone crazy, they want to defund the police and in Vancouver and in BC they've decriminalized possession of hard drugs and they actually facilitate it's availability! I'm not kidding about this society being turned completely upside down. I've been hearing that many recent legal immigrants are actually planning to leave once they've obtained citizenship, so they can use it as a "safety net" in case they need to flee their home countries. But they don't want to be here, crime is rapidly increasing while the government is actually letting people go with little to no bail on serious charges, but those who speak out against the government a little too loudly will find themselves in front of a judge(I'm not kidding).
Yeah common sentiments...gradual decline, question is how bad does it get What concerns me is the level of support for these policies among the populace
Dubai is built like a business. Most foreign workers from 3rd world work for the elite to enjoy themselves. It’s more driven towards entrepreneurs.Salaries depend on nationality.
In Dubai, if you are poor and about to get kicked out of your joub, or are going into debt, you must leave the country. One of those countries that you may go to after that is Canada!
I think Western democracies are starting to embody the old saying that... democracy is like two wolves and a sheep deciding on what to have for dinner. If you have a particular viewpoint around the response to the health crisis of the past 2 years, there is very little respect for that personal choice. You have seen your rights legislated away and nary a peep of objection from the majority. It certainly shows that Canada is far from free in the sense many of us once thought. Living in an authoritarian country might sound concerning, but I think there is much to be said for it. You generally know what you're getting into to. If you don't like it, vote with your feet and your wallet.
Great video! I am currently living in Toronto and looking to start the process of making the jump to Dubai in the coming weeks. From my research Canadian citizens still have to pay taxes for money made in Dubai? Do you know if this is correct?
@@OffshoreCitizen Thanks for the reply. Thats good to know. As long as you just give up your residents and not your citizenship thats fine by me! Do you provide any services that can assist with the move before or after? I will be becoming a realtor in Dubai and have a goal of opening my own brokerage after one year.
That sounds like a good plan! As long as you sever your ties with Canada you should be fine! Yes, we can help you with relocation to Dubai, setting up a company, we can help with cleaning up your ties to Canada, etc.
I can’t even believe someone might seriously compare Canada (despite its obvious drawbacks like any country in the world has) to a Sharia Muslim state, which Dubai was, is, and always will be. Maybe if the intention is to spend a few years in Dubai working for a well-recognized international company, that’s one thing. But moving there from Canada for good sounds weird…. Why not Russia? The climate is similar at least 😂
About 15 years ago, my sister calls me from Saudi and asks if I can hear the gunshots. A nearby compound of foreign workers was being attacked. I hate JT and the liberals, but comparing Dubai with Canada is absurd. It's like comparing a court jester to an axe murderer. My sister and her family were back in Canada the next week.
try using the perspectives of other minorities. if youre a "WESTERNER" living in Dubai is easy they are more generous in terms of salary even if there are other minorities ie. Asians that has the same sometimes superior skill sets and it's sad. they judge you based on your passport not your skill set/experience.
Very expensive! You probably need at least 5-10 M at a minimum, and they don't work in very many places, if any! There isn't much to tell; you pay tax on the withdrawals and it is essentially a fund that you control, albeit, vicariously!
The level of misery on East hastings does exist in Dubai, but it exists way out of sight in the slums they keep the imported 3rd world construction laborers in and it isn't caused by drug abuse, it is caused by working conditions and confiscated passports.
I did a video a while back on types of freedom In some Regards it's much more free. In other ways less. A client living in Dubai said "it's ironic we need to move to a dictatorship to find freedom" Another business partner from Netherlands commented "people will complain you don't have the freedom to protest in Dubai. I don't care about that freedom. I care about the freedom not to report my finances" Mostly the day to day experience in Dubai is extremely free and there's massive economic freedom. It's not politically free but most people who come aren't looking for that they are happy with the government.
Doesn't Canada provide wellfare (around 1000 to 1500 a month) to low income people if they apply for it? Does such thing exist in Dubai? The homeless problem in Canada in my opinion is 1. Canada wants to be too liberal about human rights and they make no effort to remove these homeless people from streets. I don't think there is less misery in other countries but the Authoritarian governments manage to hide it better. 2. I really think anyone in a normal mental state should never go homeless in Canada considering the government supports for low income and overall work opportunities in Canada
The idea that you're comparing Canada to Dubai is a disgrace and an insult not only to Canadians but to millions of immigrants who broke their backs building Dubai's preposterous skyscrapers living in the slums on $200 a month. You either know nothing about Dubai or just can't say the truth because the consequences are serious if you're still living there.
Dude he lives in Dubai and you haven't even visited, I am Pakistani/Canadian myself who lived in Saudi and UAE for many years, my dad came to the Gulf in 1976 as a poor taxi driver and was paid little, but guess what he did? he studied accounting and got a job in Dubai in a accounting firm, with in just 3 years by 1979 he was working as an accountant earning decent money, he worked for that company for over 30 years and retired in 2011 as a Financial Head of that company, he was making 3 figures without tax for so many years. Today my dad lives a retired life in Toronto Canada in a big house which is paid for, from guess what? the Money he made in Dubai. My point is, its all about perspective and what you do with life, yes Dubai has many jobs which pay really shitty money, but if you study a little and improve yourself and you can make a lot more money, like my dad did. Dubai has options for everybody and let my tell you if you ask 90% of Pakistanis and Indians in Dubai, they will say they love the place. You dont know the horrific conditions they come from in India or Pakistan. What people dont realize is that places like Dubai/Gulf region have actually made so many people in Pakistan and India to live better lives, from all the money that is sent by remittances from the people working in the region
Funny thing is no one Gives a S*** thats on them they chose to leave their countries and go to the middle east to make little to no livable income and they get treated like S*** no one ever deserves such treatment anywhere in the world!
Too nice, I'll say this as a Canadian, we are very polite but we also buy too much into political correctness and don't speak up when we should. Some of the things we put up with from our supposedly democratic government, the citizens of other countries would openly protest over. Canada has a dark side that many from Asian and other countries either choose to ignore or don't hear about.
In recent years, millions of Europeans have moved to Dubai. lol I saw more Europeans in Dubai, then some of the cities in Canada where population are totally Indians or Chinese
From a central air conditioned house to an air-conditioned bus to an air conditioned school (minus standing in the hot sun for assembly )remind me once again what you like about this country....you're a real joker!!! try living there for 20 plus years then come post your monologue.!!!!!

In canada your life gets more complicated when you make more money. I’m leaving this place in the next 5 years. I’ve had enough
In dubai your life gets more complicated when you make less money.
I wouldn't say that's necessarily true. As I am an Aboriginal helicopter pilot in Canada and make very very good money and life is not complicated at all in that aspect. Life is absolutely great. I think life in Canada is more difficult for middle Eastern people in general.
@@youandiryan do you pay less tax with you Aboriginal status
Good
Atleast you won't get treated like S*** like in the middle east.
Why did you chose to go back
im from dubai with my family i want to immigrate to canada you can advice me plz
Haha I feel you @maryam...I get this alot in Toronto :)
I will move to dubai late this year. Canada is no longer like before. I'm from Morocco
Very well said. 100% true. I lived 20 years in Saudi and 20 years in Canada and now about 2 years in Dubai. Dubai does treat you like a customer!
Because it is a business! just the way any business the moment you stop paying you are out, Dubai is good while you earn , loose income go home
How so with race? If you have money, no one cares what race you are.
Who told you that
Dubai is good if you have strong western passport.
Thank you for sharing your story, James?
And how's life, in general, in Saudi Arabia?
Which country is the best as per your opinion?
That’s how US thinks, not Canada
@panktislifestyle2354
This is based on individuals education and work experience, citizenshop and current wealth level.
There is not a single country that is the best for everyone.
(Eg) if you were born as a Aboriginal Citizen of Qutar, you would be better off than anyone else as an AVARAGE person. This changes if you are in the top 10% in any country.
Taxes = some benefits.
You're welcome
As for specific areas.
I rather am not involved in the politics and a good client of a country that CARES about it's future (because, let's face it, it is not like the "legacy democracies" are going to have a lot of future the way they are going now).
couldn't agree more!
You have a point...but wait till you or the staff runs into a spoiled brat sheikh and see what can happen to you...no one is taken to be tortured in Germany etc...and you have the privilege of the passport...dignity is better than money...
when did you become so based, Thomas?

I know right, Hastings is very very bad
Agree with you 100%. It's not only Hastings St, I have personally seen it in many Canadian cities.
Dubai's Economy is always booming, Canada is suffering, people are having a very hard time buying groceries now days

Dubai is a city where Canada is a country.
I know, what a comparison. It's like comparing Vancouver to United States, or L.A. to Europe.
But Dubai is beautiful.
Its see if u have huge amounts of cash
@@Deira854 That's because the homeless in Dubai are either sent to jail or sent back home.

If you have ties in Canada like your kids and wife, don't you have to pay tax on international income?
Canada is no longer like before, the education and health systems are collapsing....
Some people think Canadians are stupid and we'll simply pay for anyone coming here but social situation is deteriorating and many legal immigrants are also leaving once they get their citizenship.
thank you for putting words to my experience and feeling as well. I have lived in Dubai and. moved to Canada, and I am wanting to move back to Dubai.
Thank you for the support!
What makes you want to move?
This was actually a really good video. Thanks for sharing
Our pleasure! What are your thoughts?
I agree with many of your points, BUT I think if you look at working conditions for the Bangladeshi or Indian construction workers in Dubai you would be hard pressed to find anything comparable in Canada. Also, The people on hastings street are there because of trauma/drug addictions, and there are opportunities for them to get off the streets if they choose to.
Is that your opinion or fact? If fact, need evidence and also how prevalent it is.
These Bangladeshi and Indian workers are happy in Dubai and consider themselves lucky to be there.
@@jimbocho660 lol… given some of their employers take their passports I doubt that.

I am a Canadian and paying taxes is never ending story, and another point to add on your feedback is that if you are Canadian Citizen workng in Dubai, You get paid double or triple the salary what people from other countries get paid ..for eg: India, Bangladesh etc

Glad it was helpful!
Why not paid for months?
Agree
Why won't UAE buy some land from another country? I would love to live in a city like Dubai if it wouldn't be so hot.
In recent years, millions of Europeans have moved to Dubai. lol I saw more Europeans in Dubai, then some of the cities in Canada where population are totally Indians or Chinese

Go to Nayef or Satwa or sinapoor in Dubai, its more miserable than that street in Vancouver
True

Same vibes? Thanks.

Yeah common sentiments...gradual decline, question is how bad does it get
What concerns me is the level of support for these policies among the populace
Both are Grt place … the comparison is obviously ridiculous. It’s all come down to your family needs and personal priorities.
Dubai is flooded like a sea April 17 2024
At least canada have a good infrastructure
Dubai is built like a business. Most foreign workers from 3rd world work for the elite to enjoy themselves. It’s more driven towards entrepreneurs.Salaries depend on nationality.

This is exactly what i was lookingg for. My family and I are planning a move to Dubai .
Happy to hear so!
In case you need assistance, feel free to reach out
@@OffshoreCitizen yeah, that would be great. We actually are planning on setting up a business over there as well.
In Dubai, if you are poor and about to get kicked out of your joub, or are going into debt, you must leave the country. One of those countries that you may go to after that is Canada!
Hey Michael is it possible to reduce the tax to less than 10% in Switzerland 🇨🇭 if one making at least $100K per month?
I think Western democracies are starting to embody the old saying that... democracy is like two wolves and a sheep deciding on what to have for dinner.
If you have a particular viewpoint around the response to the health crisis of the past 2 years, there is very little respect for that personal choice. You have seen your rights legislated away and nary a peep of objection from the majority. It certainly shows that Canada is far from free in the sense many of us once thought.
Living in an authoritarian country might sound concerning, but I think there is much to be said for it. You generally know what you're getting into to. If you don't like it, vote with your feet and your wallet.
I would like more information
They fucked Canada right up, used to love this place growing up but as soon as I made a little bit of money, I immediately felt like constraints.
We vibin bro. Great content
Thank you! Happy you enjoy watching.
Which one would you opt for and why? :)
Great video! I am currently living in Toronto and looking to start the process of making the jump to Dubai in the coming weeks. From my research Canadian citizens still have to pay taxes for money made in Dubai? Do you know if this is correct?
Not true if they become non residents of Canada. Canada doesn’t tax its citizens abroad, only taxes residents
I think it all depends if you have white privilege or not, especially in the Middle East. Speaking as a non-white.
Your experience is very limited
Totally Agree, the guy been living in the bright side of Dubai.
You've clearly never spent much time in the middle east. You're buying into western propaganda about what it's like
Simply don’t understand that comparaison, nothing can compare to Canada wildlife and nature.By the way how do you like those hot days in d’ubac🥵
If that's your top value then that's fair.
I love Dubai, travel during the summer so don't get affected by the super hot period
Dubai is not Saudi
You probably could share a lot of these stories with your sister and it surely wouldn’t have to be from 15 years back!
First Dubai it's not Saudi, second you can't judge a country with ONE STORY let alone if this story happened 15 years ago
try using the perspectives of other minorities. if youre a "WESTERNER" living in Dubai is easy they are more generous in terms of salary even if there are other minorities ie. Asians that has the same sometimes superior skill sets and it's sad. they judge you based on your passport not your skill set/experience.
Exactly!
Are women free to wear anything in dubai ?
Minus going topless yeah pretty well
@@OffshoreCitizen in malls, there are sign boards for dress code, is it really inforced? Can my wife wear anything in the mall ?
Can you do a video on offshore tax wrapper insurance
Very expensive! You probably need at least 5-10 M at a minimum, and they don't work in very many places, if any! There isn't much to tell; you pay tax on the withdrawals and it is essentially a fund that you control, albeit, vicariously!
The level of misery on East hastings does exist in Dubai, but it exists way out of sight in the slums they keep the imported 3rd world construction laborers in and it isn't caused by drug abuse, it is caused by working conditions and confiscated passports.
Is that your opinion or fact? If fact, need evidence and also how prevalent it is.
That doesn't happen, or at least hasn't happend in 20 years
Am I listening to Elon Musk
Nomad Capitalist lite
canada gives u 3$ a month for ur retirement
Is it as free as canada ?
I did a video a while back on types of freedom
In some Regards it's much more free. In other ways less.
A client living in Dubai said "it's ironic we need to move to a dictatorship to find freedom"
Another business partner from Netherlands commented "people will complain you don't have the freedom to protest in Dubai. I don't care about that freedom. I care about the freedom not to report my finances"
Mostly the day to day experience in Dubai is extremely free and there's massive economic freedom. It's not politically free but most people who come aren't looking for that they are happy with the government.
@@OffshoreCitizen You don't have freedom to protest in Canada, not any more if the government reaction to the 2022 trucker protest is any example.
I don't think the Canadian approach is very good
FYI Wellfare checks are about 700CAD (in Quebec anyway). The numbers you used are for disability checks.
$700 is nothing in Canada.
Funny you'd say so. I'd be inclined to say the opposite from some perspectives.
How much time have you spent in Dubai? How recently?
Great comparison... did you forget cold VS worm weather 🤔
Also slug weather
“I feel free’er in Dubai” ofcourse it’s not surprising seeing dictator Trudeau make Canadians feel opressed
Canada 🇨🇦 is great
People are extremely nice 👍🏻
Too nice, I'll say this as a Canadian, we are very polite but we also buy too much into political correctness and don't speak up when we should.
Some of the things we put up with from our supposedly democratic government, the citizens of other countries would openly protest over.
Canada has a dark side that many from Asian and other countries either choose to ignore or don't hear about.
Sounds like Elon Musk lol
Dubai is a super duper lit place to visit, and more awesome fam.😎🎆🔥🎆🔥🎆🔥🎆🔥
In recent years, millions of Europeans have moved to Dubai. lol I saw more Europeans in Dubai, then some of the cities in Canada where population are totally Indians or Chinese
You talk like Elon
Haha thanks
You might be executed for a molecule of drugs tho
Let's see Snow,Taxation & Trudeauism vrs hot sun-beaches, less Taxation & Capitalism.
This a real hard one.

Shitty roads. Shit trucks. Shit infrastructure. Expensive as fuck. Workers dying.
@@sock7481 Except for the workers dying you've described Canada quite well.
From a central air conditioned house to an air-conditioned bus to an air conditioned school (minus standing in the hot sun for assembly )remind me once again what you like about this country....you're a real joker!!! try living there for 20 plus years then come post your monologue.!!!!!
Cry harder, loser. 😂
I’ve been living in Uae for about 18 years now, loving it here
