Hello everyone! For those of you who aren't aware, in the community tab I'm running a poll on the topic for the first video for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Be sure to check it out and let your vote be counted!
Awesome vid as usual, I always avoided the mori before but now you're making me want to give them a shot. Looking forward to seeing your take on Three Kingdoms!
@@TheVikingGeneral true but it takes them longer. Leaving the Otomo with the ability to secure trade notes. Worse part is, if the Mori want that ship they have to take a huge hit to their honor. With their starting location that's suicide for a good chunk of the game. Too many neighbors and no secure defensible positions. You need to conquer 1/3 of Japan before that's an option.
Hi Viking, ^^ I like the Mori, even if they are technically not so good. But I like Naval Battles in Shogun 2. I use the given Bow Kobaya ship to Block the Trade Point. Capture as many as possible with them until I build the TradePort for Trade ships. ... Meanwhile I conquere the Amako. Iwami has Gold ! & Hoki with Fletcher Building ! 2 Good Provinces. If you can take Inaba. It is a good defence Choke Point and has a Naval Tradition side! Being able to recruit Ships with 3 to 5 Experirents is very good and Mori Ships are even better and cheaper. You will rule the Sea and Trade Point ! = Easy Money. For this reason I like to conquere the Kikkawa as well. (Though you can allied them at the start. If you want to play Save.) If not, they tend to Conquer Bizen, so you have a 2. good Chokepoint and a Blacksmith nearby. After this, it's Time to conquer Kyscho. The Ouchi Clan tends to betray you early or get conquered by the Shoni. so your free to go. Take all their Provices. It will give you War-horses. the Best Trade Ressource. I like the Mori Wako Raiders, useful &ship against early Ashigaro Troops and even hold their ground against Samurai Units. I tend to build a Military port in Aki anyways and with the Moral Boost from the Holyside, the Troops recruit in Aki are quite good. And the Holyside let you recruit better Monks, which will come to use against the christian influence in Kyscho.
Great video as always! But hey, could you do a video explaining the real differences between boosting armor, defence or attack? I've faced that choice many times with the encampment building and the blacksmith but still dont know what to prioritize. Thanks!¡
Armor: Resistance against arrows and cavalry charges, helps a little in melee, but not as much as melee defense Melee defense: Helps with melee fighting Attack: Helps kill enemy faster. So which encampment upgrade you wanna go for depends on which unit you wanna build from it. For example, yari ashigaru I think likes armor, because they die from arrows pretty fast. Katana samurai is armor too, since they normally have 15-18 melee attack already. Naginata samurais doesnt need armor because they already have high armor, so melee attack
@@HungTran-gz5em thanks man! I have more than 600 hs in game and I still cant figure out if a splider survives an arrow volley just by having more armor. The argument could also be the inverse, that as sairais are great in meele, aking them even better in that is the logical way and not trying to make them good at absorbing a blow (as they arent made for that role anyway)
It also depends on your playstyle. I generally maneuver in such a way during battles that my melee troops barely get shot at, so I don't really use the armour all that much, so I generally prefer melee attack. I don't think you can boost defence, since that would be the best to boost, since it's generally a low stat for units.
@@TheVikingGeneral you get them so much later with Mori, that they are not a game changer at this point, whereas with Otomo you can spam them nearly from start of the campaign and have two ports by the time Mori can have one (rebelion trick).
@@ALEX20hoc Oh, I wasn't being completely serious. My problem with the nanban ships is that they're very expensive, and generally not really worth their money. Especially since if you autoresolve naval battles, the game loves to destory the nanban ships.
I play and finished the Mori. It's so tricky but it works. First play defensive and try playing the AI with military access to Kikkawa. Don't leave Your home base until you are ready to face Kikkawa since Kikkawa will attack you immediately. But this is the trick, play with give them military access 20 turn in return of some kokku for yours. Use that kokku to improve economy and military unit. If you leave and Kikkawa enter your territory, just cancel the access. Play the AI like that and the AI system will broke from its main algorithm, auto war/threat to attack. If Kikkawa do that, just back to your base and it gonna stop. Play using strategy like that until you are stable and get Iwami with gold mine. Defeat Kikkawa but don't destroy them, make them surrender on your term by making them weak or feeble. Then force them to pay kokku as they can. After that Kikkawa will not go heavily betray your treaty since they are the backstabber. Why I am telling this? Because you need to focus on one front first before go for another. You have to get stable ASAP because your ally will betray you too soon or later. But don't worry, your ally will betray you if they get Otomo territory and it takes a while to become christian and eventually they will betray you. My suggestion is just get 2 territory, your home base and Iwami but it has strong economy and easy to defend as you will need your single main army (daimyo) to defend two bases at once. Building tier just go to market first, then sword school for great Mori Wako Pirates. Get that quickly and you can defeat any army easily. It's cheap like Ashigaru, better than Katana Samurai and only one turn to train. Forget about getting the trade nodes, first thing to do is how you can get first territory without making war with Kikkawa immediately because Kikkawa is your biggest threat, not Amako. If you desperate for money, just loot. But one one time because it will sacrifice you honor. So try to get daimyo honor by retainer, or make the Kikkawa Vassal (don't worry, they will betray you again so Kikkawa will be your honor machine) it will help a lot. Once the Kikkawa, Amako and your allies are over, the rest is assured. Try go christian for better Mori Nanban Trade Ship 🔥

I love Mori campaigns. I go straight for the coastal blacksmith east to start pumping out Wako raiders. Literally nothing can compete with them
I think there are two kinds of people, those who love Wako raiders and those who haven't played with them. :P
"The only clan that can feasibly dominate the se-"
Otomo: "So, anyways, I started blasting."
Awesome vid as usual, I always avoided the mori before but now you're making me want to give them a shot. Looking forward to seeing your take on Three Kingdoms!
Thank you, I'm looking forward to it too!
The extra arches in those kobayas always come in handy
Yeah, it's actually a huge increase in combat power. Going from 30 to 40 archers is an increase of 33%.
Very useful as always, thank you very much for the video!
Glad to hear that! :)
I don't know about Mori being the only clan to dominating the seas. The Otomo have the best ship in the game hands down.
The Mori can also get it, and even cheaper ;)

Ah yes
The Mori
The clan that's supposed to have the best ships
But the Otomo have Nanban ships that can blow everything out of the water
Ironic
Have I told you about our lord and savior Mori Nanban Ships? They are even cheaper and slightly better than the standard ones.

The Shimazu and Otomo have arguably better access to dominate the seas, thanks to their relatively early Christianity contact.
Hey buddy, hope you're doing ok
Thank you for your message, I finally am doing a lot better now :)
@@TheVikingGeneral awesome, take it easy man
If I remember correctly, isn't the only difference between Mori ships and standard ships is literally +1 morale?
They're cheaper, better morale and moves further per turn. Imo not that useful, since they're too fast from the trade nodes to contest them anyway.
The bow kobaya has 10 extra archers, and the medium bune has 10 extra melee fighters for example.
Ah yes, The Mori Clan. The first faction to get destroyed besides Tokugawa💀
Otomo pls
Right now it's a toss up between Ikko Ikki and the Otomo, but it'll be either the next or the one after it ;)
