  • Hurricane Nicole swept through Florida in November causing damaging storm surges, winds, and rainfall that eroded beaches, caused beachside homes and condos to partially collapse or fully collapse, and knocked down trees.
    FOX 35 Chief Meteorologist Jayme King and FOX Weather's Robert Ray discuss Hurricane Nicole's impact and devastation and give you an up-close look at the destruction.

    This is what happens when over development, Florida had palm tress , mangroves and native plants that kept the shoreline protected, this is not about climate change 😮

      Thou can not build in Florida unless it is on sand. Most land is fake here, like Disney world was a literal swamp & they brought dirt from out of state to create false ground. Orlando was a swamp all of it fake ground. It's not until Mount Dora where the Appalachian mountains technically begin that you are on real rock. Which is crazy that the Appalachian's start in Florida & most don't even realize it. So technically we do have a mountain it just feels like hills to real mountain people.

      Best thing to do is demolish the buildings letting them add to the artificial sea walls. Of course NOW is the time to purchase across the street as these are now Ocean front, those homes which used to block the sunset are slowly disappearing....

      Florida is huge. Most Hurricanes never get this powerful. Look at Fort Lauderdale. They haven't had a major Hurricane in over 20 years or more. Why would they think on having to move? They won't. Especially people who don't live on the coast. Storm surge is the number one killer, not winds. That being said, hurricanes are easy to prepare for. You can see them coming a week in advance. All you have to do is prepare or leave. Now places like California that get earthquakes have it worse. They live there not knowing ever when a quake will hit. Then boom. See ya. The same with the Midwest or tornado alley. They get so many tornados and are not that easy to prepare or shelter from. Do you think anyone that lives in a quake zone or tornado alley should move? Exactly.

  • @RobertHasty
    @RobertHasty ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I do beach restoration work for the biggest dredging company in the USA and I can only think of one remedy. Have us build a new beach, much bigger then typical and with that a huge dune structure east of the sea walls. From the dunes west will have to be cleaned up and new sea walls put in place. Better built, higher sea walls. But the dune structure and beach up and down the Florida coast is absolutely nessacary before next year's hurricane season.

    The Coming of the Son of Man
    25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

    Without constantly replenishing a beach with beach sand dredge from out in the ocean and a proper Army Corps of engineer Seawall beaches will continue to erode no matter how small the storm may be. Many areas along Florida's Coast need to be returned back to Natural protected Preserve and barrier fronts. These areas were buildings are collapsing or in Jeopardy of collapsing should be condemned and Florida plants and vegetation needs to be replanted to hold the shoreline with a proper root structure Boulders and rocks need to be brought in a very large size that cannot be taken back out to the ocean current should be planted all along the coast. The area should remain a public beach not a private beach for mansions and condos and hotels. And should be protected by the state not being destroyed by private Builders and owners.

    There needs to be a double seawall installed and backfilled from the mega earthmoving project intended to build up the everglades started 6 monts ago. The clearing of the debris should be systemically done recycling the old materials through the coming of winter. The fill from the large trains should be in the area already and simply directed immediately.
    The seawalls we're planned to be in 50' long solid sections poured in the immediate area.
