My parents were sealed in the Manti Temple, in 1935. They were in the Temple President's office talking with him before he sealed them. My mom was distracted by the painting on the wall , right next to a window. She finally asked him why he had a painting of the mountain, when she could look out that window and see the beauty of the real thing right there? With a twinkie in his eyes, and a knowing smile, he said "because that mountain won't always be there."

I was able to go to the Red Cliffs Utah Temple today and met my father there and we did initiatories. It was good. After we did initiatories I walked around the temple grounds just in front of the temple and took some pictures. It was nice. My wife and I have an endowment session scheduled for tomorrow April 20, at 12:45 pm. It will be nice. I hope to attend the temple each week. With two temples close by it will be much easier to schedule an appointment. I am starting to realize the importance of attending the temple. The more I go, I hope the Lord will bless me with employment. I know that God knows our situation, and blesses us accordingly.

I was able to work in the Manti Temple. Amazing experience. In Ohio during my mission some of the church sites were not in the Columbus mission. But I was able to see lots of mounds and worked on splits in a city completely built within a “prehistoric circular earthworks”. Circleville Ohio.

I went through the Manti temple 30 years ago. My best friend's grandfather was in the temple presidency. We were privileged to get a behind the scenes tour of the temple and told many things about it. One thing I thought was very interesting at the time was from one of the towers we could see into another room, which we were told that those rooms do not have internal doors, the only way in, is through the windows. I asked why, and was told that those rooms would most likely be used during the millennium. I remember feeling the Spirit surge when that was said, and have wondered about it ever since. That it is to be used after the second coming is so exciting to me.

I could feel jealous being so far from the temples up there, but I don't....We have one on our hill in our neighborhood almost finished and can be seen in our front yard! It resembles the area in Navoo, the way the temple is on a hill centrally located for all to see. We are living in amazing times. I think Moroni will have some interesting stories to tell us when we can all sit down together and share our testimonies! We have a lot of Saints in the area in and around the Auckland area. Thanks Jared for your interesting research and commentary.

In many of the early saint's patriarchal blessings it stated that they would “assist in the restoration of the Lamanites to their promised blessings” or something similar. I believe that this was referring to the North American Indian people since they had no means at that time to go to South America. Even President Kimball stated that his patriarchal blessing implied that he had a responsibility for the Lamanites, which is why he devoted time to them. I wonder if there was a temple specifically with the Lamanites in mind. There is an ancient Indian temple site across the river from Nauvoo. Also, it is interesting that Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, which was a vast indian settlement is in St. Louis Missouri, and is just east of Independence Missouri. Perhaps there will be a restoration of Lamanites in this area.

What I have heard, and I can't verify it or remember where I got it, except from my ancestors who were well acquainted with Brigham, is that he was told it was the site of a previous Temple that had been destroyed. I have heard from locals when I lived in Fayette just over the mountain west of there that there were still corner stones partially buried on the southeast side of the Temple. Also there is a series of paperback books about the pioneers and their experiences when they were sent to settle there by Brigham, with many stories of local pioneers, one being that when the first main group arrived there it was either late fall or early winter and having no time to build homes, they built dugouts into the side of the Temple hill. Upon the arrival of spring, suddenly the whole hill was crawling with rattlesnakes, inside the dugouts and out, who were coming out of hibernation.

    • @user-mg8in3ku1l
      @user-mg8in3ku1l 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

The dugouts on temple hill and rattlesnakes coming out of hibernation happened in Manti.
Later, Brigham Young stood about where the SE cornerstone now is, and said this would be where the chief cornerstone goes, because it was on that spot that Moroni dedicated that place for a temple.
Those stories can be found in old copies of The Improvement Era, Juvenile Instructor, and an awesome Masters' Thesis published at BYU in the 1960s.
Which is what I read on the drive to and from the Manti Temple open house last month!

I traveled to Copan Ruinas, Honduras in 2005. The ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Copan are just north of the Copan River there. Very interesting place. We went down for my daughter's 3rd birthday since her mother's family is from that area of Central America.
I spent one morning walking along the Copan River and had the opportunity to share a copy of the Book of Mormon with a taxi driver.
We attended sacrament meeting there and felt the love of the humble saints we met.

I recently lived in northern England near the Preston Temple where I was an ordinance worker. The architect of that temple is a member in one of the local wards.
He told of a time when President Hinckley visited to choose a temple site, and my friend drove him around. President Hinckley had served his mission there, as had President Holland and Elder Cook, and most of the Apostles in Joseph Smith's day.
They visited President Hickley's old mission apartment, from which he wrote home about his discouragement, and His father wrote back to lose himself in the work. They visited the towns to which early missionaries felt inspired to go, and entire townships converted in their thousands and the villages emptied of people as they emigrated to join the saints in Zion.
None of the potential temple sites on the list satisfied President Hinckley. Then on the way back to his hotel he suddenly asked to stop the car. He led his group in climbing a hill in a vacant paddock of land, and said that in ancient times a prophet of the Lord had visited this exact site in England, and dedicated it for the building of a temple in the latter days.
The land wasn't for sale. Locals wanted it to be turned into a business park or hotel site that would create local jobs. They didn't want any church, mosque, synagogue or temple built there.
While the local saints fasted and prayed, non-member neighbours of other temples attested to the benefits a temple brings to a community, and peoples hearts were touched.
When the temple received the go-ahead by the local Council and plans were drawn up, they referred to the original maps of England to establish the boundary lines for the plat of land.
On that old map they discovered people had known that site by a traditional name which history had forgotten, but the Lord remembered.
It was anciently known as Temple Fields.
Now a beautiful House of the Lord, stake center and Missionary Training Centre stand on the site, and on the adjacent fields is where The British Pageant is performed, telling the tale of the Reformation in Europe, the Restoration of the gospel in Britain, and those early converts who emigrated to America.
Of the 70,000 pioneers to arrive in the Salt Lake Valley in the late 1800s, more than 98% were from Europe, of which 75% were from Britain.
Thus we see two things. The olive branches of two distant fields were grafted together, and continue to bring forth good fruit. And prophets can see around corners, not just to the future, but also to the past.

After being a “heartlander” for years, I became a confirmed “meso” after I could no longer justify the heartlander model. I live in the Southeast and have lived here for many years. It's hot and humid during the summers and bitter cold in the winters.
And we have the New Madrid earthquake fault (western Kentucky) to worry about. But no volcanos. The activity in the Book of Mormon, though, was volcanic - it does _not_ describe an earthquake. I've also lived through many snow and ice storms, the snow completely burying the cars and knocking out power. We've also had monster ice storms that were so severe, even walking from one place to another was fraught with peril. I attempted to walk to work and fell so many times I could not walk even in the woods near my home. Yet never have I read any accounts in the Book of Mormon having to do with snow or ice. Nor is there any mention of ice cold weather, snow, ice and so forth.
There's only one mention of snow, and it's by Nephi 1, and he compares the “driven snow” (the whitest) with purity. After that, nothing. When I visited Mexico some years ago, I was told the weather is the same year-round. Hot, humid, sunny and storms are short in duration. They have deadly serpents and spiders, thick vegetation, extensive roads and most of their mounds remain unexplored. Evidence is that the Book of Mormon took place there, as the heartlands simply wouldn't support the populations described by the Book of Mormon prophets. Thus, Bountiful would probably not fit in the Kirtland area very well. Chances are, Moroni dedicated the Kirtland Temple site after he fled north and east from Mesoamerica to Utah, then east. He might have even dedicated the Washington D.C. before going north to New York, to the tiny drumlin in which he deposited the plates.

I agree as an Angel he may have designated prior temple locations prior to our dedicating these present day temples. I am glad you are instructing us to emphasis location as significant in the Lords doings Fascinating.

From the Church official website article: "Book of Mormon Geography" The Church does not take a position on the specific geographic locations of Book of Mormon events in the ancient Americas. Speculation on the geography of the Book of Mormon may mislead instead of enlighten; such a study can be a distraction from its divine purpose.
Individuals may have their own opinions regarding Book of Mormon geography and other such matters about which the Lord has not spoken. However, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles urge leaders and members not to advocate those personal theories in any setting or manner that would imply either prophetic or Church support for those theories. All parties should strive to avoid contention on these matters.
Speaking of the book’s history and geography, President Russell M. Nelson taught: “Interesting as these matters may be, study of the Book of Mormon is most rewarding when one focuses on its primary purpose-to testify of Jesus Christ. By comparison, all other issues are incidental.”3

Even though I don't use Scripture Central as a source, the Church itself has said something similar. Thank you for speaking the truth- the folks who follow this particular channel need to see your comment. Some folks don't realize false teachers can be people who are IN the church and pro-gospel. And some false teachers don't realize they themselves are false teachers...

10 And now behold, this I speak unto their seed, and also to the Gentiles who have care for the house of Israel, that realize and know from whence their blessings come. Mormon 5:8-10 In the book of Moroni, he is telling us that his nation has failed and fallen, and he is pleading with and reminding us that we have a responsibility to his descendants. That we have care for the house of Israel. Which President Nelson has been laser focused on. Moroni, is crying to us that we need to have charity for the Lamanites, that we will find when we arrive on the American continent. He is warning us that if we do not have charity for the Lamanites that there will be consequences for us.
If we are to have care for the Lamanites we need to know who they are!!!

Scripture central is absolutely biased toward the mezo American model and has called those who believe the heartland model zealots. That's hardly measured and cautious. The condescending comment and replies about the followers of this channel should probably be tempered by a little humility.

Scripture central is not the Brethren. The church essays are not the Brethren. The Brethren (many, not a few) have talked about one pin point on the Book of Mormon map - that is the Hill Cumorah in New York. Are you people on this thread saying you don't believe the prophets? I stand with the Prophets. The church essay is saying that the church is not going to put many pins on the map where all the locations are in the Book of Mormon story. Stop saying the church has no stance on locations. The Hill Cumorah is an official stance. Having that pin makes all the difference to where the whole story happened. The Meso story is crumbling. Scripture Central is hypocrytical - they hammer the Meso story but expect their readers/listeners/viewers to be dumb and never find out about all the church history evidence (esp Oliver Cowdry letter 7) that proves that Joseph Smith always taught that the Book of Mormon happened in the USA.

Hey Jared, hidden in plain sight? The Kirtland temple photo you took during the eclipse and showed in this video [10:59]...if that photo was taken of what the temple looked like while the eclipse was happening to the left/behind the photo, and if the sun was being blocked out by the moon's shadow, WHAT is THAT 'sun' looking thing to the RIGHT of the temple of that pic?!?! And by any chance, would this 'sun' have been positioned in an easterly direction?!?!

It’s a red flag to me when people try to name a specific place in the Book of Mormon. There’s so much we know but there’s so much we don’t know. It’s a special temple either way. I don’t love speculation about stuff like this. I think it dilutes truth.

Thank you for speaking the truth- the folks who follow this particular channel need to be reminded of that. It's such a sad thing to see fellow members grab onto someone "speculating for fun" and absorb all their guesses instead of studying the actual gospel. It definitely dilutes and distracts from actual truth. It troubles me that so many church members consume the content of these LDS TH-camrs IN LIEU of actual personal scripture study and the use of "Come, Follow Me."

@@b.t.mangus8600 - your comment proves you don't listen to this particular channel or know what it is about. Thanks for showing your ignorance. People are intelligent enough to make their own decisions about this type of information. Jared never says he knows about this type of speculation, only that he has done research on the topic and he presents the information (quotes from prophets and apostles and then matching to what's happening right now) - then you can make your own decision. This does not dilute truth at all when only truth is being read by Jared (words of prophets and scriptures). I can't fathom what your motive is for coming on this video to discourage people from being excited about Christ coming again. Please expound on that.

The same applies to speculation on the second coming timeline where current events like the conflict in Israel, red heifers, blood moon eclipses, solar eclipses, vines growing on the walls of Jerusalem spelling the name of God, the paths of the eclipses spelling the titles of God across North America etc etc being used to imply the winding up scene is imminent, maybe even this year like a thief in the night.
The positive aspect of this is it stirs people up to immediate preparation, filling their lamps and trimming their wicks in anticipation and readiness. That's a good thing, and for this reason this channel is worth its weight in gold.
But the flipside is that if events are not figurative or already fulfilled (as this channel sometimes speculates) then viewers may have expectations set in their minds about how quickly Christ will return. If that season passes without happening, some might lament that Christ missed His date as appointed by man, and is not coming.
Some might then stop making their preparations, and lose their patience and faith. Then they stop being ready, and after this He comes! That would be tragic.
Regardless, I've heard Jared often remark that viewers should seek their own revelation and be guided by the Holy Ghost.
Meanwhile the great utility of this channel is in educating viewers on how there are dots that people might not know of, how those dots are connected, and the bigger picture it reveals. This is testimony-affirming and brings forth good fruit.
By that measure, Christian Homestead is a brilliant resource, if members use it to supplement and not replace personal scripture study, Come Follow Me, General Conference talks and personal prayer and revelation as their primary sources of instruction and direction each day.

@@nicholasread5397 - agreed - I think we can agree that there are 2 categories of topics presented on this channel. 1 is strict scripture and words of prophets and then matching to what is happening in the world. 2. Jared mentions things that are happening in Israel for example and says he doesn't know if there is any significance - but thinks it is of interest. As for people who are preparing for the second coming - it is up to each individual to recognise the importance of filling their lamp with oil and doing their personal preparing. It is up to them to keep constant with that preparation and it is not the fault of anyone doing any speculation if an individual stops their preparation because they choose to be disheartened. I always direct people to these scriptures when talking about warning people to not get their hopes up so they are not dissapointed on Christ's timeline. Matthew: 24:43 - when did the theif come? BEFORE the good man of the house was ready. The Good man of the house thought that the thief might come later and he wasn't prepared earlier. Couple that with Matthew: 24: 45-51 - and we have a picture of the 2 types of people that think that he is coming later. 1. is the good man of the house - he has good intentions but was lazy in his duties.... and 2. The servant that should have known better and was not looking for the coming of his Lord and he chose to ignore the signs of his coming back and instead say "the Lord delayeth his coming" and on top of that he smite his fellowservants and eat drink and be merry.
I would rather be the one preparing and warning my fellow servants and prepare my whole life.

I could see why that would be a red flag for you. I think it's important to note that it was specified that the church hasn't taken a stance, but that some historians believe. The very important job of historians is to study about, and find historical items and places. If church historians believe it's the city of Bountiful, you can bet they have some compelling evidence to believe that. It may not be our job to speculate, but it is their job to do so!
