- The mid-engine Corvette is here! I do a walk through at the reveal, show the interior up close, show the different colors, discuss the engine, transmission, styling and give my first impressions from the hanger in Tustin. Who is going to be buying the new Corvette?Let me know below.
The 2020 C8 Corvette starts at just under $60,000 and does 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. It has an optional Z51 package with adjustable suspension and track-focused hardware.

With the European cars, the price is so high because of three reasons: they're not mass produced, the quality of materials is a little bit better, and you're paying for the brand.
I can't wait to see the ZR1 or equivalent version of this car which will actually have a six figure price tag.
european cars are overpriced ... I am a swiss car mecanic and work on vw audi skoda and seat and I have to say they have so many issues I rather buy japanese cars or american cars... their engines a much more reliable

I was surprised by this car. Im sold on it! I think im choosing this over the supra. BASE MODEL 490hp, V8 rear engine. And targa top! For $60k i never been so hyped over an american sportscar in years.

I was thinking about the supra vs C8 as well. This kind of mop is the floor with it. You can't even say reliability yet on the Toyota due to its venture with BMW
@@jlung051 I dunno BMW or Toyota either way I've pretty much looked more in depth with the supras B58 and coming from BMW owners they say they haven't experienced any problems with them and that its a solid engine and the only problem that I can think of them saying that they experienced was it leaking coolant although I think BMW fixed this since they were the early B58s back in 2015 and there's a bunch of different B58s that are updated versions or have a few differences to other B58s and can handle power very well and can make easy power from tunes but the aftermarket for them is pretty small they have achieved up to 700hp just recently and they say its more than likely that they can support 1000hp but no one's gotten close to that yet. Now not saying the vette can kill it it easily can but there pretty different since ones a I6 and ones V8 but I guess their debatable since their prices are pretty close.

I've had my C5 for 11 years. Supercharged 427 making 791 rwhp that I've loved ever since I bought it. The c7 almost convinced me to get rid of it but I wasn't totally sold....then the C8 shows up. I'm literally drooling over it and now it's time for me to upgrade!

On the front they were probably trying to keep a "look" of the hood of the previous Vette's.

No, european cars are still more advanced than this particular vette in both tech and materials. This is not gonna compete with any super car its higher trims will and will have the price of one like the zr1 always have been this is targeting the entry-level caymans but i wouldn't be surprised if it slightly punched above it's weight but its not taking on any true super car and dont have to really mention hyper cars either.

I really like the look and performance numbers so far of the base model, and 60k price, awesome.
Always liked the Vettes, had 3 Z06’s in the past, 2 C5’s and a C6. They just keep getting better. This C8 may just bring me back into the fold. Beautiful car! I love it.
Think Toyota just lost a bunch of Supra buyers. Especially since the price is close to one another. Priced up Supra $45,000 with add ons $58,000 ish, and Corvette coming in at just under $60,000 with add ons probably $63,000 ish. I think people will pay a little more for the Corvette than the rebadged BMW z4.
This car will be $85k fully loaded. For $60k you get the base one. $50k for a base Supra. It’s a notch up in both performance and price. I think people will cross shop.
@@revmatchtv maybe depends on the standard options on the vehicle. I remember a lot of people thinking the Corvette was going to be in the 80s price range for the base, so to hear the base is under 60 is a big +.
The Vette is clearly more car than the Supra, but i wouldn’t expect to see any actual cars at that $60k teaser rate. The mark ups are so much better on the loaded up versions and allotments are tight. Expect dealers to tack on $10k + market adjustments on the few base cars in existence. In reality there’ll probably be a $20k spread between the C8 and Supra real-world.
I'd definitely buy one...If I can afford it. It looks good and the price is so attractive.

Chevy was able to make an entirely new chassis, a new engine, improve performance all around, and not partner with any other company and still make a starting price under $60k. Yet these internet trolls are saying the new Supra would be $100k if Toyota made it on their own....😂 please.

I'm a big fan overall, and I'm not typically a Corvette guy. Least favorite bits are the rear end, the front side grills, and no manual option. The price point is the biggest bomb obviously. Nice job, GM!
P.S. Anyone who says it looks like a Ferrari or Lamborghini knows next to nothing about car design and probably thinks a Mustang looks just like a Charger.
I mentioned this way in the past that this is the reason why Toyota did not build their own bespoke Supra. They know it would have been sold for close to 150k.
They knew damn well what Chevy had planned.

I get the pitch to say it starts at 60K but there wont be a single one sold or on a lot for that price. Real pricing with options will be $70-80K. Still a great value for what you get.

This is one of the best reviews so far on the new C8 Corvette ! I'm so happy that Chevrolet has decided to manufacture the C8 in right hand drive as well. General Motors Holden here in Australia have officially announced that it will be selling the C8 Corvette in 2020 ! This may well be my next car !

It might be because white shows a little more. But the white color looks longer than the red and blue cars.
The last car showed with out the wing is the best option for me you can see a more refined fineshed look something like an Austin Martin

Not like any of that matters to those who see price/performance/drivetrain understand that it makes sense. Maybe it's just me.. but the "luggage" space in the rear near the engine really relieved me.. it may be easily removed to access the engine to work on the motor without having to drop the motor out like some other mid-engine vehicles where the engines are neatly packed into the rear. Apart from working on it.. that space could provide a nice area to mount some goodies. Hopefully the tub can be removed easily.. I could imagine it's just some snaps or bolts?🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ either way I'm very impressed with this Corvette as I have been a die hard Corvette/ car guy for a long time.

Finally! GM made the Corvair and then Fiero, none of the concepts like the Reynolds aluminum vette, Cerv, Astro, Indy, and Xp-882 and Xp-897 rotary engines ever made it to mass production, they nailed it this time!!!
The car looks amazing. Although, the rear of the car is giving me a Camaro esque vibe. The Supra might be a great car at the 50k price point, but for styling and power, the C8 is definitely a better amazing car at 60k. The interior doesn't look as bad, but one question Rev Match. Are you still going to get the Supra or pay a little bit more and get the C8?
I’m going with the Supra. It will be a while before this is available and it’s a lot more money with options. Easily 50% more.
@@revmatchtv 100% true. The Supra is a legend brought back to life, while the new C8 is a new, wildcard entry for Corvette into the Mid-Engine market. The interior styling is a lot better on the C8 since its very driver centric and race car type feel. While, the Supra has more of a luxury sports car styling. Either way, I think the new Supra will be a popular car for its handling, while the C8 will be known for its power and exterior design.
Let's be honest, Corvettes are now frequently just as powerful as some of the best supercars and are a fraction of the cost, reliable and not terribly expensive to service.
Hands down, Corvettes right now are some of the best values out there for how much power they're putting out.
Hopefully this lowers the price in time for the 7.0l zo6 i want 😂😂

This car is half the price of a Porsche 911 and yet still less expensive than a 4 cylinder Cayman. My prediction is that this car will spell the end of production for the Cayman....They only sell a few thousand of them a year now,,,and if this new Corvette could steal, say 2000 sales away,,,,,would it be worth manufacturing it anymore? We all know Porsche is about making big PROFIT on every car. It would not make sense to keep producing a car with VERY low sales numbers if in fact the Vette can steal some. I don’t see how it couldn’t.
Cayman and Corvette are not cross shopped now. Why would that change all of a sudden?
Based on the prototypes in camo I didn't think I was going to like it, but now that I see it without the camo I actually really like the way it looks. I'd definitely have to get one without the spoiler though. They showed a convertible without the spoiler for a split second during the presentation and it looked much better without it.
Edit: Ah, there's one at the end of the video without the spoiler. Definitely looks better without it.
I agree. The brown one with that tan interior is gorgeous. And the lack of a spoiler makes look much cleaner

A friend told me today, he is buying one for him and his wife to share, and one for his father/mother. That's how below $60K move people from other competitions.
